Right after he heard the shot being fired he parked the car on the street and jumped out of it. He ran to the front door of the house he and Hayley had lived in 5 years ago and without any hesitation he opened the door and went inside. He pulled out his gun and checked the living room first, there he saw some blood on the floor but he couldn't spot Emily or Hayley. Also there wasn't any signs that Foyet was there.
When Hotch was about to check the kitchen he heard a noise coming from upstairs. He turned around and went to the stairs.
"Come on Emily you can't hide for long.", he heard Foyet calling. Seemed like he didn't know that Hotch was there. Hotch wanted it to stay that way so he tried to be as quiet as possible while going upstairs.
He had heard Foyets voice in the bedroom so that's where Hotch wanted to go but right when he took the last step he got greeted by Foyets gun. "Hello Aaron.", he grinned and fired two shots but Hotch had managed to let himself fall to the ground and wrapped his arms around Foyets legs so he lost his balance and fell down the stairs, together with Hotch.
When they landed on the ground Hotch got on top of Foyet. He punched him quite a few times before Foyet rolled around and now he was the one being on top of Hotch. He punched him and tried to grab one of the guns but Hotch was faster. He had grabbed Foyets gun and slapped his sleeve with it. "Where are the two?", he asked mad.
"Dead.", Foyet laughed as loud as he could.
"Then why we're you searching for them?", Hotch replied even more angry now while punching Foyet as hard as he could, since he was still laughing. He didn't get any answers out of him, Foyet just continued laughing until he suddenly stopped but Hotch didn't even realize it he just kept punching Foyet.
Meanwhile Emily was upstairs with Hayley, the two of them were hiding in the wardrobe and Emily was pressing down a tshirt on Hayleys upper body since that was where the bullet had hit her. "Hayley come on help will be here soon, stay awake for me.", Emily whispered desperate.
"Have you slept with him?", Hayley asked and you could hear how weak she was right now.
"No I promise you, I haven't.", Emily told her immediately. "At least not in the last 10 years.", she added so Hayley would believe her.
"I knew something was off as soon as you joined the team.", Hayley chuckled with her last strength.
"I promise you I didn't want this to happen. I told him more than once that he should stay with you.", Prentiss tried to make her understand.
"Emily I need to know something. Promise me that you'll tell me the truth.", Hayley begged her.
"Yes whatever is I promise you I'll be honest with you.", Emily reassured her.
"Would he still have been with me now if I hadn't gotten pregnant?", she wanted to know.
"Okay I promised you to be honest..." Prentiss sighed. "He told me he wanted to leave you but that evening you told him about your pregnancy.", she added honest.
"Thank you...", Hayley mumbled and then her eyes shut down.
"No Hayley come on stay with me. Don't do that now. You have almost made it, help will be here any minute.", the brunette started to shake her a little, hoping that this would wake her up.
Downstairs the team had finally arrived and stormed the house. When they got into the hallway they saw Hotch beating up Foyet.
"Hotch.", Morgan called but got no reaction. "Hotch stop. It's over.", he said when he had walked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder.
"They are dead Derek.", Hotch cried out. Morgan pulled his boss off of Foyets body and held him while he broke down when suddenly the SWAT team called for them upstairs "We found someone.", they said.
"Come on let's go there Hotch.", Morgan said and he and Hotch rushed upstairs. When they got to the bedroom they saw the open wardrobe where Emily was sitting and giving Hayley CPR.
"Oh my god you are alive. He- he said you two were dead.", Hotch stuttered.
"We need the paramedics here immediately.", Morgan shouted and not even thirty seconds later two paramedics arrived and went over to Emily and Hayley. "Ma'm, you can stop now, we will continue that for you.", one of them said that calm to Emily.
"No I can't let her die.", Emily cried desperately.
"We will take care of her.", the same paramedic told her.
"She has to live. She is pregnant.", Emily said but it looked more like she was talking to herself than to the paramedics. JJ walked over to her friend and pulled her off of Hayley. "It's fine Em. She will be okay, they will take of her like they said.", JJ tried to calm her down. "We'll get you checked out too, that bruise on your sleeve looks pretty bad.", the blonde said and helped Prentiss stand up.
"No they need to take care of Hayley.", Emily demanded.
"It's fine, they will. I promise you but now let's go out of here so the paramedics can do their work.", JJ told her and brought her out of the room.
Hotch who had just watched this scene followed them and as soon as they were out of the house and JJ had brought Emily to an ambulance he ran over there and pulled her into his arms.
"I'm so sorry Emily. For all of that. It's all my fault and I'm so glad that you're alive, i thought you were dead when i heard the shot being fired.", Hotch told her while crying. "And I love you too. I love you more than anything in this world. I promise you I will never let anything come between us again.", he said.
"I knew you'd make it in time.", was all Emily could get out. "Is Hayley okay?", she asked desperate.
"I don't know. They just brought her into an ambulance.", Hotch told her clueless.
"Please go and check if she's still alive. I promise you I did everything I could to make sure she would make it until the paramedics arrived.", Prentiss explained frantically.
"It's okay Emily. I know that. I'll go and check if someone knows anything, I'll be back in a minute.", Hotch replied and after getting a quick nod from Emily he walked over to his team.
"Hey does anyone know if Hayley is okay?", he asked worried.
"Oh now you care about that.", Morgan mocked him.
"Derek.", JJ said outraged. "The paramedics were able to get her pulse back.", she told Hotch.
"Which hospital are they bringing her?", he wanted to know. After getting an answer Hotch went over to Emily to let her know that he and the team would meet her at the hospital.
When they arrived at the hospital they met up with Garcia and then went straight to a nurse to ask her about Hayley and Emily. She couldn't tell them much except for the fact that Hayley was still in the operating room and Emily was waiting to see a doctor. The team went to the waiting room of the hospital and waited for some news. The first twenty minutes no one talked but then Morgan decided to start a conversation. "So Hotch when would you have told us about you and Emily?", he asked upset.
"Morgan stop it's not the time to discuss that now.", JJ interrupted him worried.
"I think it is. Knowing that information would have changed the search after Foyet.", Derek replied mad.
"What would have changed? It would not have given us any clues about his location.", the blonde stated.
"But we would have known why he was actually after Prentiss.", Morgan argued.
"Derek believe me it wouldn't have changed anything.", JJ said desperate.
"Hold on. Did you know about them JJ.", Derek raised an eyebrow and you could see that he was really upset.
"Morgan no matter who knew something, it's my fault. You are right I should have told you.", Hotch told him before JJ could reply anything.
"So she knew.", Morgan replied disappointed.
"It doesn't matter Derek, all that matters is that Emily and Hayley are alive.", JJ said serious.
"Sorry but for me it matters. All this time he was lying to us and then he didn't even tell us about it when Foyet kidnapped her. All of this makes me more than mad and right now I am still ignoring the fact that Hotch slept with an underaged girl.", Derek was still mad.
"Stop Derek that's too far. You don't know what happened back then.", the blonde interrupted him before he could say more.
"Yeah maybe but he still lied to us.", Morgan replied angry.
"You can't just blame Hotch. It was my decision too.", they suddenly heard someone say.
The team turned around and there was Emily standing in the door frame of the waiting room.
"Oh my god Em! You're okay!", Garcia exclaimed and rushed over to her to hug her.
"It's good to see you.", JJ said after walking over to the brunette and giving her a hug too. After that Emily walked over to greet Rossi and Reid too and then she got to Morgan. "Derek I'm sorry. I should have told you from the start what's going on it wasn't fair to you to keep it a secret. As a team you all should have known but I realized that too late.", Emily said to him and gave him a hug.
Afterwards he gladly didn't say anything else about that topic so Emily went over to Hotch. He immediately pulled her into his arms and held her tight. "I'm so glad you're okay.", he whispered.
"Yeah me too but how's Hayley?", Emily asked quietly.
"We haven't heard something expect for the fact that she is still in the operating room.", Hotch answered her question.
"Good that means she is still alive.", Prentiss replied relieved. "I thought maybe I didn't press hard enough onto the wound...", she added worried.
"You did a great job Em don't worry.", Hotch tried to calm her down. The two sat down next to the rest of thr team and again it was really quiet. After a while JJ noticed that Emily fell asleep with her head on Hotchs chest and she couldn't help but smile.
She thought no matter how terrible this whole situation was, maybe these two could finally be together now.
