I spoke to my neighbor
Across the way.
Asked how they were doing.
Said it was their 50th anniversary today.
I replied, that was quite a long time.
Most marriages don't last that long.
He nodded in agreement, saying
Their love had always been strong.
Said he loved his dear wife.
He always called her Lamb Chop.
Said her dark eyes and sweet smile
Nearly made his heart stop.
He said at first, he gave her a red rose
On their anniversary each year.
Then he planted a rose garden
Because she was so dear.
In parting he replied,
Let me tell you, so you'll know.
True love can be found
Where these red roses grow.
