For quite some time, Sam and Karina had been working together to find the solution to get Dean off the deal. By the means of working together, Karina was staying out of it. She couldn't help but spare a few details for Sam about how keeping a secret from Dean was a bad idea. He was hard to crack.

Sam was on the call with Bobby at the table with Karina. Karina was drinking her iced mocha and reading The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood beside Sam. He was looking at the laptop, the screen was loading the translation of the ritual he found with Bobby. Including Karina's warnings on her face, and her sighing of listening to Sam's conversation.

"What do you mean you don't think it will work, Bobby? It's a demon-dispelling ritual."

There was banging on the window beside Sam, Dean was holding the newspaper. He was looking at Sam, signaling for the news. Dean was heading toward the entrance as Sam spoke quickly to Bobby to end the call.

"Well, maybe we got the translation wrong. Look, we can't just let Dean fry in hell while we... there's got to be something. Ok, look I gotta go. Okay. Never mind."

Dean approached the table as Sam quickly shut his laptop and his phone. "Hey, who was that?"

"I was just ordering pizza."

"Dude, you do realize that you're in a restaurant?"

Sam looked around and played it cool. "Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah. We just felt like pizza, you know?"

Karina was reading the page when she whispered to herself. "Smells like the pants are on fire."

Sam side-eyed at Karina who was minding her business, flipping the page. He looked at Dean who looked at Sam weirdly, they both continued looking at each other. No pun intended.

"Okay, Weirdy McWeirderton." Dean took a seat across from them, "So, I think I got something."

Karina put her book down on the table, "Yes?"

"Cicero, Indiana." He gave the newspaper to Sam and Karina, "Falls on his own power saw."

Karina picked up the newspaper, letting her and Sam read the cover. She continued reading while Sam talked to Dean, "And? That's--that's it? One power saw?"

"Well... yeah."

Karina looked at Dean and asked, "That's it? That's the case you're anticipating?"

"Well, I don't know. Could be."

"Or is it something else?" Dean and Karina stared at each other while Dean was struggling with his words. Karina raised her eyebrows as she waited for him to continue. He began to smirk as he leaned over to them. She put her paper down on the table, annoyed. "Okay, I rest my case."

"There's something better in Cicero than just a case."

Sam asked, "And that is?"

"Lisa Braeden."

Sam scoffed, "Should I even ask?" Karina shook her head, mouthing no.

"Remember that road trip I took... Gosh, about 8 years ago? You were in Orlando with Dad wrapping up that Banshee thing."

"Yeah... the 5 states, 5 day-"

"Well, kind of. Although I spent most of my time in Lisa Braeden's loft."

Karina nodded as she rested her arms on the table. She couldn't help but down the details.

"Let me be straight, due to your language, Dean... You're telling me that you're glad to drive all the way to Cicero to hook up with a woman you haven't spoken to for years. Where on the other hand, I haven't had hot, sweaty sex for two years because of you two?"

Dean chuckled lightly as he looked Karina in the eyes. Not noticing that Sam was flustered in pink.

"She was a yoga teacher. It was the bendiest weekend of my life." Dean smiled as Sam and Karina smiled and rolled their eyes at each other. "Come on. Have a heart, huh? It's my dying wish."

Sam asked, "How many dying wishes are you gonna get?"

"As many as I can squeeze out." Sam nodded as he looked down, Dean tilted his head to him. "Come on. Smile, Sam. God knows I'm gonna be smiling after 24 hours with Gumby girl.'

Karina groaned lightly at the nickname as she took a sip of her mocha. Sam shook his head as he took sight of Karina, smiling at her. "Gumby girl. Does that make me pokey?"

Karina got off the table, grabbing the book and the drink. "Okay, I'm done." She fled off.

Impala was pulling up a motel in Cicero, Indiana. Dean stopped to let Sam and Karina out of the car. Dean looked Sam and Karina out of the window, "Don't wait up for me, Sammy, Kay."

Sam sighed lightly when Dean was revving the engine while Sam was grabbing his stuff out of the car. Dean was smirking at Sam and Karina, "Wait, Dean. Dean, you--"

He drove off, leaving Sam and Karina on the side road together. Karina turned her back to Sam and began walking down the diner, "I need to eat."

Sam yelled after her, "Okay! I just-- go to the check-in and- Meet you there!" Karina thumbed up on the way, then Sam nodded awkwardly, heading his way to the motel. "Ok..."

***

Sam and Karina were sitting in the booth, across from each other. Sam had the supplies he needed on the table. The waitress walked up to take their order, "What can I get for you, today?"

"BLT with fries, thanks."

The waitress wrote the order, then she looked at Karina. She began her order quickly, "I would like to have a burger, well done. No onions and no mayo. Onion rings and fries on the side along with A1 sauce. For the dessert on the go, a big slice of vanilla cake. If it is homemade, yes, if not, you should be ashamed of yourself."

"Everything is homemade, ma'am."

"Hanna, I'll take that to go. No need to call me ma'am, the name's Karina." Hanna smiled as she departed with the order. Sam grinned at Karina in awe of her, shaking his head. Karina looked at Sam, confused. "What?"

"Nothing."

Sam began tying his laptop, focusing on the plan he created to save Dean and Karina. He began writing down the translation from the screen on the notepad. Karina looked at Sam who was busy with squinted eyes. She drank water, and her hand leaned her face, looking at Sam again.

"You know there is a thing called communication?"

Sam chuckled lightly. "Look, we need to find a way to save you and Dean from the deal. We don't have time for that."

"Lying and keeping secrets from your brother? I'm sure he'll be thrilled about that."

"Karina, you know he wouldn't listen to me, and Bobby is finding another way."

"I just don't want to get your hopes up over something that is impossible to erase without consequences. There are always consequences involving something like that."

Sam's eyes looked down with guilt, shaking his head. "You know I can't... he's my brother."

"I know... and he's my friend."

Hanna served the food to Sam and Karina, they returned the gratitude. They both set up their meals, and Karina began putting the A1 sauce on the side of the bun. She grabbed the pepper shaker and sprinkled it on the fries and burger. Sam was studying her, getting the details of who she was as a person, not Huntress. She grabbed the ketchup and squirted it on the side of the plate.

She was eating her burger then Sam went back to writing the translations down. "So Sam Winchester, when was the last time we ever had our time together?"

"Since ever..."

"Care to determine that so you put down the pen before I stab it in your hand?" Sam tilted his head, blankly staring at her. She softly smiled, then he returned the gesture. He did what she ordered him to do. "Thank you."

"Okay, what do you wanna talk about?"

"Anything to stall the time so the dumbass can get hit on the yoga teacher."

"Yeah..." He grabbed the sandwich and began eating with her. "You haven't told me how you feel when you turn on your humanity. What was it like?"

"Stunned... Chilling... Every bone in my body was frozen. It's almost like you're having your first orgasm." Sam coughed his food, then Karina laughed. Sam nodded, drinking his water to ease his throat. "I don't know.... All of the sudden, I felt everything. Everything you think of."

"Yeah, you sounded like you were scared to turn it back on in the first place."

"I thought I would be too... but then I realized I don't regret it."

Sam Winchester smiled softly at Karina Leone while they were staring deeply into their eyes. Stunned... Chills... every bone was frozen as time passes. Blood was burning as well as hearts. Taking in every sense they both felt in each other, pulling closer and closer from their eyes.

"I'll be right back."

"Okay."

Karina sent a soft smile to Sam before sliding off her seat. She turned her back and walked away. Sam's eyes were on her as she went her way to the women's room. He glanced at the distance, he laughed softly as he was drowning in thoughts on one thing, Karina Leone's presence. He sighed as he waited patiently, not bothering with the laptop or notepad.

Until the footsteps head toward the same booth, he raised his face with a smile on his face. Thought it was Karina, but it wasn't her. His smile faded as he stared at a person who was sitting across from him. It was the blonde woman who saved him from the Sins. "Hello, Sam."

"You've been following me since Lincoln."

She slammed the laptop down, then she grabbed a fry from Sam's plate. "Not much gets by you, huh?" She took a bite of a fry, "Mmm, these are amazing. It's like a deep-fried crack. Try some."

"You better get out of here before my partner comes and sees you here."

"Who? Your lovely Huntress? I heard she turned on her humanity, that is headline news. Besides, I'm not scared of her."

"You should be, 'cause I'd seen her in the ways no one could have..."

She smirked lightly at him, "Awe, her loyal defender..."

Sam scoffed, shaking his head. He leaned over the table and asked the woman. "That knife you had-- you can kill demons with that thing?"

"Sure comes in handy when I have to swoop in and save the damsel in distress." She put her fry down to grab the carrier for the coffee that had not been used.

"Where did you get it?"

She slid the carrier toward her when she answered Sam's question with an avoidant answer, "SkyMall." She grabbed the ketchup and squeezed until the carrier was full of ketchup.

"Why are you following me?"

"I'm interested in you."

She returned the bottle and dipped her fry in ketchup. She continued eating it as she looked at Sam. He leaned back to her again, hoping that Karina would come quickly to get her, "Why?"

"Because you're tall..." Sam rolled his eyes, then she finished. "... and I love a tall man. And then there's the whole antichrist thing."

"Excuse me?"

"You know, generations of psychic kids, yellow-eyed demon rounds you up, celebrity deathmatch ensues." She grabbed Sam's drink, "You're the sole survivor." She took a sip.

"How do you know about that?"

"I'm a good hunter." She set the drink down as she leaned back in the seat. Crossing her arms as she smirked. "So, Yellow Eyes had some pretty big plans for you, Sam."

"'Had' being the keyword."

"Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's right. Ding-dong, the Demon's dead. Good job with that. It doesn't change the fact that you're special... and that Anthony Michael Hall E.S.P. visions kind of way."

"No. That stuff's not happening anymore... not since Yellow Eyes died."

"Well, I'm thinking you're still a pretty big deal. I mean, after all that business with your mom."

"What about my mom?"

"You know, what happened to her friends." Sam hesitated with unknown thoughts in his mind, she read his mind as she spoke out. "You don't know... You've got a little bit of catching up to do, my friend.'

She smiled, and she leaned forward to pick up Sam's pen. She grabbed his right hand and began writing down her number on his palm. "So, why don't you look into your mom's pals, and then give me a call and we'll talk again?" She set the pen down on Sam's hand, she got up from the chair.

Sam was reading the number, the moment she said her last words. "And by the way, you do know there's a job in this town, right?" She made her exit to another door, leaving Sam confused.

Suddenly, Karina came walking rapidly, Sam quickly put down his right hand under the table. She sat across from Sam, she looked at him. "There's a job in this town."

"Really?"

"I got a call from Dean in the hallway, he explained the details to me. Apparently, not only was one accidental kill, there were four more in the suburban neighborhood, and they were kept hidden from publicity. People falling off the ladders and drowning in their Jacuzzis."

"That is weird."

"I know, right? I let Dean know we're on the way, so let's pack up." Sam nodded until Karina noticed the carrier that was filled with ketchup. She pointed a finger, "That's a lot of ketchup."

"Uh... I like ketchup."

She squinted her eyes, "Huh..." She stood up from the booth while Sam was packing his supplies. She paid the check with an additional tip. She shouted, "Hanna, I like that cake now!"

"You got it, Karina!"

***

Meanwhile, Sam and Karina continued to work together as a team. Sam was dressed in a dark suit with a clipboard while Karina was wearing a low, wavy ponytail with a black pencil dress and high heels. They were visiting one of the suburban houses while Sam spoke to the wife of the victim. "So, once again, we're very sorry to disturb you. We just really want to expedite that life-insurance policy."

"Of course."

"Okay."

She guided them to the backyard to reveal a ladder leaning against the wall. "This is... where he fell."

Sam and Karina approached it when Sam inferred, "I see. Now, how exactly did he-"

"He was just inside changing a light bulb. Must have lost his balance."

Karina turned to the mother, "Were you here when this happened?"

"No. I was out. The only one here was our daughter, Dakota."

Sam and Karina turned to the sight of the ladder one more time. When they lowered their eyes, there was a little blonde girl with pigtails staring at them. Sam gave a small smile at the girl but she didn't respond. Just staring at them creepily.

Karina whispered to Sam, "Is this just me, or she reminded me of Rhona from The Bad Seed?"

Sam didn't respond as they investigated closer of the red smudge that looked like a stain of blood on the window, then to the black fence. It seemed like someone small who climbed on them upon the window. They returned their eyes back to the girl. Their eyes narrowed as she stared at them.

Karina whispered, "The answer is yes." Then she turned her back with a fake smile with a kind gesture. "I think that's all we need. We will let you and your daughter be for now."

"Thank you."

As soon as she stepped up the steps, the visual of the woman's neck caught Sam and Karina's attention. It was a strange bruise that they had never seen before. A circle with small holes like someone sucked her deep. Sam and Karina shared looks together as they walked to the car.

"Sam-"

"I know... I was thinking the same thing."

"I need my cake first before the research."
