A huge black dragon that looked like a winged snake and spawned. It was estimated to be Level 7 or higher. And everyone there looked at it completely and utterly shocked as the monster that they were trying to stop has finally appeared right in font of them.
Everyone: ?!?!?!
Neze: What the heck is that thing...?!
Alise: A winged snake? Or wait, is that a dragon? It's huge! How does it fly?!
Kaguya: Horrifying...! It looks gross and it makes me sicks! I've never seen anything like that before!
Sora who was looking at the new monster started trembling when he saw it. His breath started to ragged.
Sora(mind): It looks exactly like... The One Eyed Black Dragon!
Erebus: A black freak that woke up to the attracting power of Arcanum. If I had to give it a name, it'd be something like Delphine. Familias. Can you see that hole on the ground? It's a special shortcut to hell dug through 19 floors. It's the gate to darkness and the symbol of the underworld, which is to be opened to connect 2 worlds. Babel will collapse, the Age of Gods will end, the story of the truth will be established as promised- It's the Era of Darkness and Chaos.
Ryuu and Alise: !!
Erebus: Rejoice and die. I, the absolute malevolence shall provide you with death. Sparkles of justice are no longer necessary.
The Nightmare monster was targeting Erebus since he's a God, but his followers started defending him even if it meant dying. After his bodyguards told him to secure himself he gave them the order to take him to where Alfia was.
Alfia: Hmm. He's brought us something that's better than what I've expected. At first I heard it was a hoax, though. I've never seen such a monster. Looks like there's still a lot more to discover in this Dungeon.
The Nightmare started going rampage and destroy everything that it sees. And the power that it was releasing was so great that it might destroyed the entire floor. And they still had to deal with Alfia, the situation couldn't be more worst for them. When suddenly, they all felt a huge gust of wind.
Sora(mind): This wind...!
Sora and everyone else look towards Aiz who's hair was shadowing her own eyes as she was starting to look furious.
Aiz: That thing- That thing...— That thing...!!!
Something snapped inside the blonde swordswoman as her heartbeat started pumping faster than ever.
Aiz: HAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Seeing the monster, Aiz went berserker and began to fight it alone.
Sora: Hey! Come back here!
Aiz didn't listen to her captains order as she started slaughtering the other monsters and rushed towards Nightmare without the care in the world. She had become a deadly berserker that's even worst that Asuna. And Erebus was enjoying the show as he just stood there with a smirk on his face.
Sora: Sword Princess! Come back here! Listen to your commander!!
Riveria: Damn it! She is bursting with anger...!
Gareth: She's going ti get herself killed!
Asuna: She might have gone berserk, but she won't stand a chance against that monster!
Aiz started fighting Nightmare on her own, but none of her attacks was working, as the monster just instantly regenerate at a fast speed.
Sora: GO! Riveria, Gareth, Asuna!!
Riveria, Gareth and Asuna: !!!
Sora: The three of you stopped and save her!! Leave Mother to me and the Astraea Familia! Asuna, use your Auros to stop her wind from going on a rampage!!
Riveria: Don't be silly, Sora Yatagami!! Even though you have the strength of a level 6, there's no way you can take down a level 7 monster-
Sora: Do you trust me?
Gareth: But...!
Asuna: Let's go, Riveria, Gareth. Without knowing if that girl is safe or not, you won't be able to focus anyway. And here...!
Riveria: I owe you one...!
Asuna and Riveria then began to chant.
Riveria: Echo conveying our desire, O shroud of the forest!
Asuna: As source of the water flow, grant my target with the protection of water!
Asuna and Riveria: My name is Wishe/ My name is Alf! Aqua Shield/ Veil Breath!
It was both Riveria and Asuna's defensive magic that safeguards them.
Riveria: Defense magic has been set up! You'll all be protected while the effect last! Do me a favor and don't die!
Gareth: We're counting on you! Once this is all over, we'll have a feast! I'll teach you all how to drink like a dwarf!
Asuna: You better win, Sora!
Riveria, Gareth, and Asuna left and once they left, Lyra complained to Sora, however, the others agreed with her, stating they would defeat Alfia.
Lyra: You truly out of your mind! Are you sure that you can beat her?
Sora: Not by myself! But all of us together can!
Alise: This game isn't over until you give up! We can do it!
Lyra: You both are idiot!!
Sora: No more useless chatters! Are you ready?
Astraea Familia: You got it!!
Alfia: Fighting me without your teamwork. Getting a little cocky here...
Sora: Nope... I'll keep standing no matter how many times I fall. Until you stopped what you were doing, Mother!
Alfia: Hmph!!
Riveria tried to call Aiz and make her retreat, however, she couldn't hear him, as she had been overtaken by her emotions. Gareth noted that, despite their attempts to damage it, Aiz' wind was the only thing that could hurt Delphyne. And, to top it of, the monster had a regeneration skill. Although Aiz attacks were being able to restrain the monster, Asuna said it wouldn't be for too long, as the power of her magic and skill combined was harming her. And back with Sora and Astraea Familia, all of them were still fighting Alfia, with Sora at the lead.
Sora: I'll try to weaken her as much as I can! Once you all see an opening, rushes in!
Alise: Agaris Alvensynth!!
It was Alise's fire enchantment magic and her whole body was covered in flames.
Alfia: Hmm, a flame of enchantment... is that everything you got?
Sora: You should pay attention!
Sora started using his speed to the maximum he could muster and started speed blitzing all over Alfia leaving her no time to defend.
But Alfia didn't even bother to dodge. Thanks to her enchantment magic, Sora's attacks basically had no effect on her.
Alise: Follow me, girls! It's time for a combo attack! Fly like a butterfly and sting like a queen bee!
Astraea Familia: Yes, commander!
Sora with the help of the whole Astraea Familia, they make a combo attack that makes the imperfect perfect as a whole. The greatest weapon of adventurer is teamwork. But Alfia only said one word.
Alfia: Gospel.
It was once again Alfia's spell that produce a loud noise that blow everyone away, but Sora's momentum didn't stop as both he and Alfia started speed blitzing all around the area while Alise and the others take some healing.
Sora: Mother...!
Alfia: Bring it...
Some time after the fight started, Alfia noticed they were keeping their distance and playing safe, trying to make it an endurance contest.
Alfia: So your making this an endurance contest. You must've told them about my magic.
Sora: Exactly...!
Kaguya was wondering how much it had been since the start of the fight when Vito arrived accompained by a group of Evilus members. He was grateful to get before the end and prepared to battle. Not wanting to bother the rest, Kaguya opted to fight them by herself and told Lyra to support her. Once she had finished wih the rest she went for Vito.
Alfia: I see an increase in your strength and speed. Your evolving even further, huh brat.
Sora: I already told them that your nullifying magic was actually enchantment. By pretending to cast spells by extending your arm, you only make it looks like you're casting magic barrier. But they already know that it was the same as Asuna's and mine lightning and water enchantment. As well as that you can't take off that magic, if you don't want either of us to land a huge damage on you too.
Alfia: You and your judgement skill.
Lyra: As long as we keep our combo attacks, its only a matter of time before you collapse.
Alfia: So I take it they also know about the sound of gospels that I'm cursed with.
Sora: Yeah... About your Silentium Eden, that nullifies all external magic attacks while it's in effect. At the same time, that magic effects internally too.
Before the final war start. Sora already told them about Silentium Eden. A super short chant enchant magic that covered Alfia's body in magic negating "armor", and she was easily capable of using it after her enemy had attacked. She kept it on at all times and it required her to use a large amount of mind to sustain it. Despite its ability to nullify external magic attacks, the true nature of her magic laid in its ability to greatly diminish the power of her own magic. Alfia referred to as that it wasn't an "armor" but rather a "seal" to keep her own "noise" within herself.
Sora: They also know that it greatly decrease the power of magic that you cast, Mother.
Lyra: We know that all those crazy destructive attacks... were not at full power. But was restricted all along.
Alfia: Then allow me to play a melody of true noises that I hold a grudge against.
Sora: You think I'll let you do that!
Alfia: Of course not... That's why your going down first.
Alfia suddenly move even faster than before, that it rivals even Sora's speed completely shocking him and the rest. And Alfia appeared behind Sora and kicked him away multiple times and sent him flying towards the wall.
Sora: Gah...
Alise: Sora!!
Alfia: Now taste the bitterness of the noises that I hold grudge at.
Alfia then set off her enchantment and noticing she had already undone the enchantment, Alise ordered everyone to retreat, however.
Alfia: Vanish!
Sora: Not good!!
Sora who was at the rubble uses his speed to the fullest extent. Moving at the speed of light, Sora rushes towards the girls as Alfia unleashed her spell that she used to fought against Asuna the other day.
Alfia: Gospel... Satanas Verion.
Suddenly a huge blocks of sound, and the shockwaves that occur from the attack was larger from the average gospel appeared and The Astraea Familia members all closed their eyes as they were enveloped by a huge light.
Alfia: Evidence of the sins I'm deemed to have committed before I was born. Oh, what could possibly sound more unpleasant? All I can do is take away everything. It's been like this now and before.
Kaguya who was fighting against Vitteaux looked at them completely horrified that her teammate just got hit by the blast and Vitteaux started laughing hysterically.
Kaguya: Captain... Lyra... Neze... Lion... Yatagami...?!
Vitteaux: HAHAHAHA!!!! This is insane! Predator and Silence! Not even the Flashing Strike can scratch them! Those two are out of this world! As long as we have the fallen Heroes- there's no future for Orario!
After the explosion, the girls all opened their eyes, but to their surprise, they got zero injuries. They were no longer standing near Alfia, as they were all several hundred meters away from her.
Lyra: H-How did we...
Lion: W-we're alive...?
Neze: B-But how did we...?
Ryuu then noticed that Alise was not with them.
Ryuu: Everyone! Where is Alise?!
They all started searching around and looked towards the place of the explosion and they were horror at what they saw. They all saw Alise laying on the ground with Sora on top of her shielding her from the blast as Alise looked at him with tears on her eyes.
Alise: Sora...!
Sora: Huff... Huff...
Sora could only reply to Alise's plea only with a stilted gasps. The instinctive cast of her lightning had lasted mere seconds against the direct blast of shockwaves, and the mix of black hair atop Alise's' heads was smattered and disheveled. And all Sora could do was smile at her.
Sora: Are...you... alright...?
Alise: Sora...
Alfia: So you moved everyone away from the blast before it hits you. Your speed really is impressive. But you aren't able to save the last person, so you used your own body to shield her from damage.
Sora: M...Mother...
That's all Sora could say before collapsing on top of Alise and she along with everyone else panicked.
Alise: SORA!! SORA!!!
Sora didn't say anything. All his body was a wrecked. Blood was streaming from all side, heads, eyes, ears, nose, body parts. As he lay motionless on top of the red hair girl.
Lyra: It's alright! He's still breathing... But his injuries are heavy!
Ryuu: If it weren't for Lady Riveria and Miss Asuna's magic... He would've vanished!
Alfia: So he has finally fallen. It was a nice effort... But it's not enough...!
Alfia said without any concern to what she had done towards Sora and the girls only looked at her shocked.
Ryuu: What?!
Alfia: This is the end for the Age of Gods. There will be no second chance. Your friends, the elf, dwarf, and the girl brat is doing great too. I'm especially surprised with Hatake's little sister... She's fighting the Nightmare well.
Alfia said while glancing at her fallen child. As if she was indicating that Sora and Hatake are the same person.
Alfia: I never knew the prelude of the destruction of Orario would be this interesting.
Ryuu: Do you not feel anything?
Alfia: Feel what?
Ryuu: Do you not feel anything after what you've done to him?! He's your son!
Alfia: None...! I never consider him as my child. To me he is just a disappointment like the rest.
Alfia said with a bit conflicted voice. It clearly shows that she doesn't meant it. If anything, she was more than proud at what her son has become. A True Hero, that will guide the Next Generation to victory. But in the girls eyes, they looked at Alfia with a disgusting face.
Lyra: How could you say such cruel things?!
Neze: Even when you're trying to destroy the world, this boy right here continue to love you with all his heart. He even believe that there's still good inside you!
Alise: Are the bonds that he and you share were nothing to you. Because to me, all the time he spent with you was the best!
Alfia:...
Alfia started to think about the time he and Sora spent together. On how she would train Sora for hours with her harsh training. And after they were done, Sora would constantly ask her out to do some Mother and son bonding. How even he could make her laugh and smile from time to time. If anything, Alfia love Sora too much, that her love is immeasurable. But all she said was...
Alfia: I guess there's a bit of fun memory. But nothing else... He's nothing but a disappointment to me.
Ryuu: Wha-!
Everyone was shocked by her answer that they don't even have the right words to reply.
Alfia: It's an incarnation of evil that kills deities and destroys order. I'd bear with it if it would be the key to eliminate disappointment. To me, the disappointment that resides within my body is a bigger pain to bear.
Ryuu: What's disappointment to you? What's a disappointment that turned you into what you are?! You were once a child of the protector of Orario, Zeus and Hera just like him!
Alfia didn't say anything for a few seconds. Thinking whether she should tell them, but in the end she spoke up.
Alfia: Very well. You chose to go and bother me with noises. If you want, I'll let you hear my answer. I'll let you hear about our disappointment.
Alfia then told everyone her disappointment and everyone just stood there listen.
Alfia: Our disappointment is about helplessness. Nothing is more pathetic and simple as that.
Alise: Helplessness? Pathetic? What are you referring to...?
Alfia: Orario... or I mean, the world... and ourselves.
Sora:...
Lyra: What does that suppose to mean? Explain so that we could understand our language!
Alfia: There's no explanation to our lack of power. We slew Behemoth and Leviathan, but got defeated by the Black Dragon.
Everyone eyes widened when Alfia told them about the Three Great Quest.
Ryuu: The Three Great Quest!
Alfia: Proud warriors that were respected by deities for possessing unchallenging skills easily got knocked down... For the first time ever, we've witnesses true chaos. Everything was smashed, ripped into pieces, burnt, fed to predator... All I saw in then end was a blurry vision of a sea of blood.
Neze: ?!?!
Alfia: Those who survived were worshipped as the mightiest Heroes, but they soon fled. That's when I realized none of it was right. Adventurers have no resistance against true despair. They are helpless being who can't deceive the Heroes and reach the world's longings. In this age of Gods, no one will be able to match that Black Apocalypse
Sora: The world yearns for Heroes.
Everyone looked at Sora who just woke up, but still badly injured.
Sora: But then, where do these Heroes that the worlds yearns for come from and how do they get recognized? Can True Hero exist in this Generation? That's what they keep asking?
Lyra: Wha-?
Sora: Unfortunately, Mother and Zald sensei proved a theory when we all got defeated by the Black Dragon. They proved that things were not done correctly. They believe that Heroes of the Age of Gods can't slay the monster. That's why, they want to bring back what we most respected until this day. They want to bring back the Age of Heroes!
Alise: Wait, you can't possibly meant...?!
Alfia: Indeed. The clock shall be turned backwards to bring back the Heroic Legend!
Sora: In the ancient times, monsters were strolled around everywhere and the world was ruled by terror and despair. Then, humans stood up. They risked their lives to go beyond their limits and face a huge wall of despair, to defeat their enemies before they got destroyed. Those violent but valiant heroes of the past were brought to the world by the era- and it became the legend of the Mightiest!
Neze: So, these monster that they want to released was for they all to relieve the ancient world...?!
Alfia: Exactly. The world is slowly perishing, and by introducing chaos, I shall turn it into a perfect stage for Heroes to be born. Or else, we won't win. Humans won't win. The Black Apocalypse shall swallow all, and the world will be lost entirely!
Sora: That's why tons of sacrifices have to be made for a single chance to stand against the Black Dragon. That last Hero that shall save this world. Isn't that right, Mother?
Alfia: Indeed. Thousand years. It's been a thousand years since the ancient times had ended, deities arrived and humans started receiving blessing from them. That's how long it took for the world to be prepared to battle with the ancient monster- and this is what we've got. We've been defeated pathetically. The thousand years of the Age of Gods were proven meaningless. Nothing worked against the Black Dragon!
Alise, Ryuu, Lyra, Neze: ?!?!
Sora:...
Sora couldn't say anything as he remembered how badly they got defeated by that Black Dragon.
Alfia: The mightiest man was legend worthy of admiration! The tyrant woman had divine power! The fastest man alive! And the strongest divine berserker! They threw up blood, lost their limbs, screamed and in the end ran like a miserable wimp! They were a true depiction of helplessness!
Alfia said while glancing at Sora. On how she remembered that Sora was struck by lightning and unleashed an arrow of lightning to allow them to escaped.
Alfia: I was disappointed at ourselves! I was disappointed in ourselves! But there's still hope. That's what Heroic Legend is-
Alfia started reminiscing on how the Heroes like the books that were able to fight without the help of falna, although received help from the Spirits, had been able to overcome the threat of monsters with their own power.
Alfia: The ancient people fought with monsters emerging out of the dark hole without being bestowed with Falna. Can you believe it ? The spirit were there to help, but people of that era fought only with their own power to prevent monster invasions.
Sora: The Hero of the dawn gave birth to another Hero, passing down their will. In the end, two Heroes managed to drive the Black Dragon away from Orario, one by damaging its eye, and the other for giving a huge scar on its chest.
Alfia: Exactly, Heroes of the past managed to accomplish what we failed to do. That's all that matters.
After Alfia had told them their stories, Ryuu spoke up.
Ryuu: Then, what's disappointment to you? What are your aim...?!
Alfia: Heroes of the Age of Gods were a huge failure. Then, we must step beyond the Age of Gods to introduce a new, True Hero. For that, we're going to bring back the Age of Heroes.
Everyone other than Sora all looked at her completely shocked.
Neze: Wh-What are you implying...? Are you saying that you're trying to destroy Orario because...
Alfia: Because I wish to save this world.
Alise...!!!
Everyone couldn't believe what they were hearing. All this destruction just to seek Heroes. Just so they could be able to triumphant over the Black Apocalypse.
Lyra: So I guess you folks also want world peace, huh?! Can't we just work together hand in hand to make it happen?!
Alfia: That would be impossible. You haven't seen the dragon apocalypse yet. You know nothing about absolute despair. Nothing will change what we believe. Zald and I already reached the one and only answer.
Sora: But I have...
Everyone looked at Sora and saw that he had tears on his eyes. He was crying after hearing the person who he look up to as a Mother and her reason for wanting to do this destruction. In the end, they all had the same goal. Sora, Asuna, Alfia, and Zald. The four of them seeks Heroes. But they come up with different answers.
Sora: I know what true despair is. I know the pain of losses. And I know, that superiority that could be achieved beyond terror and despair. The circle of tragedy that human once experienced, and the view beyond... The chosen one shall overcome sacrifices to reach the goal.
Alfia just looked at him silent. Sora was telling her his side of the stories.
Sora: There is no such things as one and only answer. We all have different kind of answers we believe in. Even now, I still believe that there's more of a reason that your doing this. That's when... the Black Dragon can be slain! The world could be saved from apocalypse. That's why...
Sora then looked at Alfia with determination on your eyes.
Sora: I won't let you have it your way, Mother! I'll prove it to you, that there is such thing as a True Hero in the Age of the Gods!
Alfia:...
Alfia looked at the determination on his eyes. It was the same like when she first met him. It was the eyes of someone who had experienced huge losses, but still try to move forwards anyway. Someone who continue to bear the pain of loss and sadness, and had the will of a true hero could overcome despair.
Alfia: Then prove it to me. Show me the power that you use to save us all! And I shall be convinced.
Sora: I will...
Alfia: Prove to me the power of will, determination, and justice!
The girl's voice reverberates. It was the shouting of silence, who was supposed to be stronger, beautiful, and quiet than anyone. No one managed to respond to her desperate shout. But one person, was standing, and it was Sora. He stood up, with his abilities called regeneration that could heal any physical injuries, his wound started to close up as he move forwards.
Alise: Sora... Your wounds...!
Alfia: Again you stand up. Again and again...
Sora: Yeah. I'll stand no matter how many times I fall. Because everyone entrust me to. If I do quit I betray their trust, and I refuse to let them down!
Alfia:...
Ryuu: Yatagami...
Sora: You are just as lost as I am, Mother. You're still in the middle of your journey just like me. But I do know one thing, Mother...
Alfia: And what is it...?
Sora: True Hero won't come around of you stick with the answer you came up with!
Alfia: What...?
Sora: Your not striving for the future of Heroes! You're only turning back the clock! There will be no future Hero beyond that, as well as today! There will be no such thing as the Last Hero, if we don't strive for the future! What you're doing is basically ending the wills to be passed down, entrusted by the one that died that day!
Alfia: !!!
Sora: Also the will entrusted by the adventurers that you ended!
Astraea Familia: !!!
Sora: My Dad once told me. In the world full of adventurers. In the world of the Heroes. Those who break the rules are regarded as scums... That's true. But, those who abandon their friends are worst than scums...
Both Sora and Alfia started remembering the day how their comrades risk their lives so they could ran and survive, but Sora continue to gave his answer.
Sora: And those who don't cherish their comrades memories... Are even worst scum than that!!
Alfia:...
Everyone started to clinch their fist. Their shoulder were practically trembling. Alfia could only watch in awe. Even Erebus and Astraea who just entered the dungeon to watch the confrontation looked at him in awe too. Sora had made up his mind. He will strive for the future as he generates his lightning blade in his arm.
Sora: I won't abandon the memory of the old you. Even if its the current you, who's repudiating it. And I'll continue to strive for the future! That is and always will be the path of the Hero that I have chosen!! So follow me, everyone!!
Sora exclaimed, eyes filled with determination as he looked back at the whole Astraea Familia. Their whole bodies were shaking. Their chest eyes, arms and legs quaked violently. As they gaze at the boy standing in front of them. Ryuu curled her hand into fist, Alise's felt her heart well up with courage. Neze's eyes changed into determination. Lyra's body feel like it was spark with lightning. This boy here, truly deserve the title Hero better than anyone.
Neze: Well said!
Ryuu: We can't be losing either!
Lyra: He's a complete fool! But it what makes us want to follow him!
Alise: I truly agree with him! The future! Let's all strive for it!
They all stood up. They snatched their weapons from the ground. They all shone with a renewed brilliance as though filled once more with their own fighting spirit.
Ryna: It looks like we've got the answer.
Maryuu: Yup, all thanks to our Hero standing right in front of us.
Iska: No matter how hard it is, we should strive for the future.
Nion: We're the ones who can remember and pass on words spoken by Ardee and the others, as well as their smiles.
Asta: One day, when the time comes and we are to become stars—
Celty: We won't be lonely because we've got everyone.
Alise: Do what you must. Adjust the balance. Until the day we become like the stars. In the name of Goddess! Leave a trail of hope on this land that leads to the future!
Astraea Familia: Swear to the sword and our wings of justice!
The Astraea Familia all rose to their feat. They all stood beside the boy as their final battle began as everyone was united as one. And Alfia saw that Sora once again united all the people, adventurers alike and she form a smile on her face.
Alfia(mind): Sora my son. I couldn't be more proud of you.
Alfia: To strive for the future instead of the past... To have faith in possibilities instead of clinging onto history... So that's the answer that you have come to conclude. Very well, I swear to myself, I will turn you all into corpse with this battle. No exception. Everything will vanish. With noises, you provoked me into battling... Try surviving, brat, justice Familia.
Alise: We will! We'll survive, knock you down and strive for the future!
Ryuu: We will defeat you, Alfia!
Sora: Give it everything that you've got! All for One and One for All!!
Astraea Familia: YEAH!!!!
Kaguya and Vitteaux were watching from afar and this time it was Vitteaux turn to looked in shocked.
Vitteaux: That Flashing Strike again! Again and again! He keeps standing no matter how many time he falls!!
Kaguya: Now I understand why Alise had fallen for him! That boy really do has the ability to move people's heart. When you see him trying his hardest, even when all we did was make fun of him in the past. We instinctively wanting to land a hand. And that's because, people only knew that they have each other to strive for the future! I couldn't help but get excited as well! My heart is on fire!
Vitteaux couldn't understand how simple words could encourage them to continue as he saw them fight. Kaguya said they should carry justice and repeated that it would always come around, irritating Vitteaux who asked what was he then and where was justice for him. Kaguya told him he believed only in his own thoughts and assumed no one would try to understand him an things were simply unfair, justifying himself with anger.
For that reason, she concluded he was helpless and justice wouldn't come around him. She said they would continue passing justice and wills, so that people yearned for the future instead of the past, something that Vitteaux considered unacceptable, efusing to believe in justice and declaring he would destroy everything. Tired of him, Kaguya told him to shut up and used a technique with which she was finally able to take him down, and left to help her friends.
And Astraea who was watching from afar, couldn't help but smile at him as Sora just united everyone as one as they all strive for the future. And Erebus was watching Sora in awe as Alfia son once again stand up as their final battle has began.
