You had been out on a mission to give a letter to the Dendro Archon who had ruled over Sumeru, Zhongli had entrusted the letter to you for your efforts of traveling with Lumine these last few months.
You had all been very close, but it had been months since the Traveler went to Inazuma. You understood clearly on what she had planned in her mind, and it was one goal only, to get her brother back.
You couldn't blame her at all, you had been there when Lumine and Dainsleif fought off the Abyss Herald. Aether had popped up and had been working with the wrong side, you feared the worst.
Your footsteps echoed around the forest you had been, it was hot and humid, the wet and muggy temperatures had been sticking to your skin. You groaned as you noticed a stream was ahead of you, and the only way to get through it, was to go in it.
You were familiar with only one person in Sumeru, and it was a man named Cyno. He had happened to cross by Mondstadt before the Traveler had ever come to Teyvat. He had crossed paths with you and gave you ideas on what exactly Sumeru was like, and how grand it really was.
You missed your friend as it's been years since you've seen him, not to mention you both really hit it off as friends. You teased him too much about his hair always being in his face and how you couldn't ever see his pretty eyes from how he'd try to hide in his hood, thanks to you, he's worked on that since.
"Leave it up to me, Zhongli. It's fine! Don't let anyone else go! Because I know exactly where I'm going in Sumeru!"
You sighed, and looked up to see if any vines had been hanging down close enough for you to grab onto. A tree a few meters away had plenty of vines hanging down, it was clear that you had been in a rainforest. The tops of the trees loomed in on you, and it was obvious by how many bugs had been attempting to swarm around your head.
You walked up to the tree and began climbing onto it, your hands getting small slivers in them. You winced and eventually pulled yourself up onto the branch, you huffed, "There's a reason why we stick to fighting, not swinging across rivers like Tarzan!"
Your hands ripped the vine and you used it to stand up onto the branch, but the moment you did, you heard a loud, crack!
Your eyes widened and you noticed the branch below your feet shook from how unstable it was, it would break within seconds, you looked to the other side of the river, a cliff ledge was waiting for you.
It was either do or die situation, and you decided do. You got a running start off of the branch, your hands gripping the vine tightly and you jumped off the branch. Your screams echoed around the rainforest as the branch supporting the vine had a loud, snap from above you.
"No! No! Damn it!" You screamed and the branch snapped, your body fell towards the river. The cold water hit your body like needles and your head hit a rock, your screams were being drowned out by the raging river itself. You tried surfacing the water, only to see yourself heading towards a waterfall.
"OF COURSE! My luck is fantastic!" You yelled and tumbled down, the gallons of water pouring ontop of you. Your ears were ringing and you were underwater for a bit of time until a certain someone had pulled you out.

Your head pounded and your eyelids slowly lifted, a pair of bright orange eyes had been looking down at you. Fingers had snapped at your ears to try to get your attention, you groaned in pain and tried to swat their hands away.
"Well, that's what you get for thinking a vine would actually hold you while swinging across a raging river." A voice stated to you from above, your head was in the person's lap. Their fingers had some sort of medicinal cream on their fingers and put it against your forehead, which stung.
You assumed that your head was banged up from the rocks at the bottom of the river, the person's fingers had been trying to help with the blood. Your eyes eventually adjusted to the light in your eyes, and you opened them sleepily to see a man who had been very carefully attending to your wounds.
His bright orange eyes fixed on helping your health while you noticed he had a hood like the head of Anubis, which had been an ancient god of the Egyptian times. His white locks of hair had been down at his shoulders and his bangs tangled in his face, you began to understand who it was.

"Cyno?" Your voice called out and he whispered, "Long time no see, Y/N. You look fantastic." He said sarcastically, you groaned at his response.
A wet cloth pressed against your head and you leaned into the touch from how amazing it felt against your pounding head.
"Where are we?" You mumbled, your eyes shutting again from how exhausted you had been. "Right outside of Sumeru's city, hold on tight." The Cyno's arms wrapped around your body and lifted you up, immediately sprinting in the direction of the city.
Your head was tucked into his chest, you were handled with such care that it shocked you that it had been this long since you'd seen your friend. He was always gentle around you, which was why you both bonded so fast.
And with that, you passed out in good care.

You woke up with a yawn and stretched your muscles, the sunlight had been hitting your eyes. You squinted and got up, your hand flying to your head from the migraine you had.
"What a warm welcoming from Sumeru." You rolled your eyes and slowly rose to your feet to look out the window, you had been staying in. The town had so many bright emerald trees that really held it's title of being filled with rainforests, not to mention the huge tree that had been sitting in the middle of the town with its huge branches sprouting outwards.
It was certainly no Liyue, but it was absolutely stunning. Your eyes sparkled at the view and your door opened quietly, a pair of footsteps walked in. Your eyes immediately looked over, Cyno, who had potentially saved your life had walked in with a glass of water.
His eyes perked up when your savior noticed you had been awake, "Thanks for saving me, Cyno." You said with a friendly smile, the man's eyes watched your movements before slightly nodding.
"Why did you think swinging across a river was a good idea?" He raised an eyebrow at you, putting the glass of water down on your end table.
Your cheeks flushed in embarrassment. "I-I, well-"
His lips rose in a small smile and changed the topic to save you from embarrassment, "Well, what brings you here? It's been a long time."
"I was sent by Mo-" You stopped yourself short before saying Morax, you decided to keep it short about why you had been there. You had assumed that most of Sumeru knew of what happened to the Geo Archon.
"This is for the Dendro Archon." You pulled out a letter from your pocket, it had been a little winkled from the water but intact. You had heard good things about Lesser Lord Kusanali, but you didn't have any plans on staying longer than you had to.
You had missed your friends at home and the tea Zhongli had made for every morning, you viewed him as your older brother and you, you had been the annoying younger sibling.
The man took the letter from you and didn't open it, he nodded his head. "Want to see some of the nation? For old time's sake? I remember boasting to you about how amazing our nation really is." He asked you with a grin, your lips creased upwards in a smile.
"Since your asking so nicely-" You stopped yourself short and stared at his face again, he stopped and stared back, his cheeks flushing red from how long you'd been staring. Your hand went up and moved his white silky hair out of his eyes, you cheekily smiled.
"You look cute with your eyes showing, don't hide them from everyone." You teased him and booped his nose before making your way downstairs, the Sumeru scholar stood in your room dumbfounded.
His hand reached up and touched his hair for a moment where you had just pushed it out of the way, his cheeks were red. Cyno didn't realize how much he really missed you, you had been the only person who had called him cute or even cared for him.

Cyno sighed and went down after you, your excited self was already at the door and obsessing over the giant tree that loomed over Sumeru City.
Your face turned into pure awe at the beautiful sight of Sumeru, your smile had been priceless. You couldn't help but feel so excited for a new region you've never stepped foot in, until today.
"So, this is the Nation of Wisdom." You said to Cyno, who had met you outside. The sun had been hitting down on Sumeru in every correct way possible, making the city stand out even more. You couldn't help but feel so happy to catch a break from Liyue even if you missed the people in it.
"Did it live up to your expectations?" He said from your side, his Anubis hood ears had been standing tall on his head. You looked over at him and nodded excitedly, "Liyue and Mondstadt are the only nations I've ever visited. Inazuma is closed off to the world while the other nations like Fontaine, are too far away."
Cyno grinned at you from how lit up your face was, your excitement was getting to the best of you. You grabbed his hand and pulled forward, killing to explore more of the new nation. "Come on! Come on!"
"Y/N-" He called after you and put a hand on his hood to keep it on his head, his ears flew back as you dragged him down the pathway, giant roots of the tree that had been the biggest you had ever seen had spread across the pathways. They arched across the houses of Sumeru, leaves on the branches swayed back and forth in harmony with the wind.
Children had been throwing around a ball and chasing each other down the street while you and Cyno had looked like a pair of lovers who were wandering aimlessly around the city. His arm eventually linked in yours and your hands entwined as you continuously wandered around the Dendro Nation, Cyno slowly began to relax more and more around you.
You looked over at him and asked, "Cyno, where's your favorite place to go?" His eyebrows raised in shock, "My favorite place?"
You nodded eagerly and his eyes went up at the giant tree above the both of you, your own sights followed his eyes and looked up. A huge branch had been stretched out across your head, "It's relaxing up there." Cyno said in a small voice and you immediately begun climbing the tree, the Sumeru Scholar right behind you.
You pulled yourself up onto the branch and reached down to help Cyno, which he took your hand and pulled him up to the tree branch. You walked along the branch to see an amazing view of Liyue, The Chasm and Mondstadt, which had been way in the back. Your eyes had stars in them from how gorgeous the view was, you completely forgot that the main reason you came to Sumeru was to deliver a letter to the Dendro Archon.
It would have to wait until tomorrow, you had been occupied. "So, this is Sumeru?" You said and looked at the vast deserts not too far away, the rainforests had macaws flying off the tree tops and the sandy dooms had gusts of wind come by and ruin the mountains of sand. You were beginning to fall in love with the region, it was so different compared to Liyue.
You sat down and Cyno joined beside you, "Different isn't it? It's not to everyone's liking, but it has its beauty in places."
You turned towards him with a grin, "Are you kidding me? Wait until the people of Inazuma begin to travel, they'll completely be blown away like I am." You leaned your head on Cyno's shoulder and watched the sun begin to set, his fingers once again entwined with yours. You both sat in silence and enjoyed the perfect view together, your head began to slowly sink down and rest on his shoulder.
Cyno's body immediately tensed up beside you, his cheeks began to once again flush red and he had hoped you couldn't see him. Both of your arms wrapped around his right arm, you snuggled right up into his side. "Y/N?" His voice called up above you, you responded with a small hum.
"When you go back to Liyue, will you promise to write to me? Or visit occasionally?"
You paused for moment, you weren't sure that you exactly wanted to go back to Liyue. Well, not right away at least. You wanted to spend time meeting the people of Sumeru, and you had just reunited with Cyno. You couldn't possibly go back home and just forget this day, you were thankful to Zhongli for coming up with this idea for you to go.
"What if I don't want to go back?" You said with a whisper, but the man at your side clearly heard it. His tension relaxed and his head began to slowly rest on top of yours, his lips began to form a small smile.
"I don't want you to leave either, it's been years. Don't leave now." The smile on your face returned and you sat up to look at Cyno, who took his head off of yours at your sudden moves. Your fingertips moved underneath his jaw and ever so gently moved his silky white hair out of his face, while doing this, you moved closer to his cheek and pressed your soft lips against him.
The tips of his ears were red and he couldn't help but smile from how happy he was to have you back with him, he had missed his friend dearly, but that friendship could very clearly turn into something much more that you both were hoping for.
"I won't leave, Cyno. Not for awhile, at least." His grip on your hands only tightened, his heart was filled with pure bliss. He turned his head and returned your own kiss to your temple, you had felt like you were dreaming.
"Good." Was all that came from his mouth, and the both of you enjoyed the rest of the evening cuddled up together.
Your future had plenty of adventures that lies ahead of you, the Traveler themselves wasn't too far to coming into your pathway. It would be an exciting many months with Cyno at your side and drawing your swords at your enemies and also learning Sumeru's secrets. After all, it was the Nation of Wisdom and well known for its Knowledge.
Cyno would be your personal guide for pretty much everything, and he was happy to be your guide. He would be able to experience every little thing that surprised you and the little facial expressions you made when you were happy, the love in your relationship would be absolutely endless.
And you never wanted anything more, to be reunited with Cyno himself.
