|5 DAYS LATER - 7th DECEMBER - 10:00 a.m.|
"By when can I expect the song, Jungkook?"
"I need at least till day after, Miyoung. I need to work on refining it."
"Okay, great. That's not too bad. Please make sure I receive it by the 9th."
"You got it."
"Bye then. Take care."
"You too, bye."
Jungkook sighed as he ended his call with Miyoung and resumed looking at his laptop screen which had now almost started feeling torturous. No, he hasn't stopped loving the art of creating music. He never will. The catch is that he's been up since 5 a.m., staring at the same device with only one short break for when he had breakfast with Taehyung.
Other than that, he's been spending most of his days just working and working. Even though he had submitted a song to the company just last week, it wasn't enough. They wanted more. Since Jungkook's songs were doing the best in the industry at the moment, the demand for his songs was high. And so were the expectations of everybody waiting: the producers, the artists and of course, most importantly, the fans.
Not only that, the pressure on him had also significantly risen, which is why he found himself in front of the screen almost all the time. He needed to make sure his songs were perfect. Nothing less than that.
As he nibbled his nail, wondering how he could make the song even better and polish the few things he didn't like too much, he felt two arms wrap around his neck and a gentle weight on his head. He leaned into Taehyung's touch with a sigh.
"Was it Miyoung on the phone again?" The older questioned.
"Yeah."
"Take it easy, baby. You're stressing too much. It's starting to worry me."
Jungkook tilted his head to meet Taehyung's gaze. He smiled, "I'm fine, Tae. It's just people are expecting a lot from me, and I don't know whether I can deliver."
Taehyung frowned, "You won't be able to with that attitude."
Jungkook hummed, "Hm?"
"You will fuck it up if you think you're gonna fuck it up. And trust me, because I say this from experience. Every time I thought I was gonna mess up a piece while tailoring, I did. Then I had to redo that garment all over again. I know you don't want that with a song." Taehyung chuckled.
Jungkook smiled and shook his head, "You're right, I don't."
"So, believe in yourself, love. You will do well if you put in your best effort. Which I know you are."
Jungkook grinned, lifting himself up so he could peck Taehyung's lips, "Thanks Tae."
"Shush. You don't have to thank me." He said before kissing Jungkook's forehead. He continued, "Anyways, I'm off to work now. Take care of yourself, okay?"
"I will."
"Okay then, love you!" Taehyung screamed, as he started walking towards the door.
"Love you too!" Jungkook shouted back.
"Don't stress!" Taehyung yelled again.
"I won't!"
Then, Jungkook heard the door close shut.
|1:00 p.m.|
Jungkook sat in his former game room, which he had now temporarily turned into a studio/office for himself. He had been working all day, without taking a single break. But, he decided that he could take one now, since it was time for lunch, and he was pretty content with his progress.
He got up and headed towards the kitchen as he thought about what he could cook for himself. He knew Taehyung wasn't going to be home till evening so he only thought about dishes for one. Even though he always missed Taehyung while the older was at work, he couldn't help but also find peace in the silent, empty house. Not that he didn't feel peaceful when Taehyung was around. But, there's just something about staying alone at home, knowing no random delivery man or package deliver will come knock at your door and disturb you. He felt so because it was an extreme rarity for anyone to show up at their place at this hour. Though, if given a choice, he would definitely want to stay with Taehyung than ever live alone again.
Since he usually didn't expect anyone coming at their house right now, it utterly shocked him when he heard the doorbell ring. He hurriedly rushed to the door to see who it was. While he walked in the hallway, he heard laughing sounds. His frown depended as he wondered where those sounds were coming from. When he reached the living room, he was pleasantly surprised to see Taehyung standing by the door, grinning and looking at... someone else?
Jungkook's frown that had melted into a smile after seeing Taehyung in the middle of the day, solidified into a frown once again. But he replaced that with a grin when Taehyung looked at him and ran towards him.
"Tae?! You're here?!" Jungkook asked, instinctively wrapping his arms around Taehyung's waist when the older circled his arms around the younger's neck.
"Yes! But only for a bit. I forgot a design at home, I need to grab that quickly." Taehyung kissed Jungkook's cheek and rushed to their bedroom.
That's when Jungkook turned his gaze to a man standing by the door. He spoke, "And who must you be?"
The man smiled, "Hello! I'm Daeseong, Taehyung's co-worker. You must be Jungkook, right?"
Jungkook plastered a forced smile on his face, "Yeah, nice to meet you." and shook Daeseong's outstretched hand.
As Daeseong looked away, Jungkook couldn't help but notice the latter's physique. He was tall, taller than Jungkook and had a well built body. Not only that, he was really good looking too.
Jungkook sighed and looked away, biting his lower lip. He thought, 'Why was Tae laughing with him?'
Before he could ponder any further, he felt a presence right in front of him, and Taehyung's familiar hands grabbing his own. The older spoke, "I see you made progress on the song. Good work. I'm proud of you. Keep it going and don't-"
"Don't stress." Jungkook chuckled, completing his sentence.
Taehyung smiled, "Yes, don't. I'll see you when I get home. Love you!"
"Love you too." Jungkook quickly pecked the older on the lips before reluctantly letting him go.
Then, he heard Daeseong speak, "Bye Jungkook, good meeting you."
Jungkook smiled and watched as Taehyung held Daeseong's arm and led him out of the house, closing the door on his way.
Jungkook walked towards the kitchen with a frown, a pool of guilt building in his gut, and numerous question bubbles popping in his head.
'Why didn't Tae ever tell me about that guy?'
'Why was he laughing with him?'
'Why didn't he himself introduce me to Daeseong?'
'Have I stopped making Tae happy?'
It would be wrong to say Jungkook was jealous because he thought Taehyung was cheating on him. No, he would never do that. He respects Taehyung enough to never doubt him about that. But, what bothered him was the fact that his boyfriend looked happy with another guy. Not that that was wrong, they were probably just friends. But, the thing is that since the past few weeks, Jungkook had been thinking that he hasn't been giving Taehyung enough attention. The two of them have just been too busy. With Jungkook working on his music non-stop and Taehyung spending most of his day at work, the two could see each other only in the mornings and nights on weekdays. The only time they could really spend with each other was on the weekends. But Jungkook was busy then too. He would spend almost half of both the days working on music.
He did think that he wasn't spending enough time with Taehyung but never really dwelled upon that thought for too long because the older never complained about it. But now, looking at Taehyung laughing and looking all happy with another man couldn't help but make him feel guilty and angry. The fact that Taehyung potentially spent most of his work time with Daeseong is what made Jungkook jealous: the possibility that his boyfriend was spending more time with someone else than he was with him.
He shook his head as if he was shaking all these thoughts away. He decided he would just talk to Taehyung when he gets home and that he should focus on his song.
With that and a sigh, he started cooking himself lunch.
|3:15 p.m.|
It had been over two hours since Jungkook had seen Taehyung last. He really thought he would be able to shift his mind off Daeseong and focus on work, but here he was, a couple of hours later and still thinking about the same thing.
He tried, he gave his everything into solely focusing on his music, but he failed. He needed to talk to someone about this. And he just knew who.
So, he dialed in his number.
"Hey Kook!!" He heard a cheerful voice from the speaker.
"Hi Jimin Hyung."
"What's up? To what do I owe the delight of receiving a call from you?"
"Hyung, can we meet please?"
"Yeah, of course. Everything okay, Jungkook?" Jimin's voice lowered into a worried tone.
"Yeah, uh, just I want to talk to you. In person."
"Sure. See you at the café in 20?"
"No, Jin Hyung would be there."
"No, he wouldn't. He's still in University for an extra lecture."
"Okay, then yeah. See you at the café in 20."
As Jungkook began to end the call, he heard Jimin's hurried voice erupt through the speaker again. "Wait! Jungkook!"
"Yeah?"
"Is Tae gonna be there with you?"
"N-no."
"What?! Why?! Kook! What's happening?"
"Hyung, we're fine. I'm probably just overthinking but I just need to talk to someone."
"Fine, you sure?"
"Yeah, Tae and I are amazing."
He heard Jimin sigh, "Okay then, see you soon."
|3:45 p.m.|
"Are you fucking kidding me, Jungkook?! You're jealous because Tae got his co-worker home and was laughing with him?! But, why?!"
Jungkook pressed a finger to his lips, indicating Jimin to lower his voice. Jimin rolled his eyes and crossed his hands over his chest.
"Hyung, honestly, I don't think I've been given him enough attention. You know, because of work and everything? We barely see each other on weekdays. And just the fact that he's probably finding comfort in another guy than me is making my blood boil."
"You're angry at Tae?" Jimin raised an eyebrow.
"No! Obviously not! I'm angry at- myself. And jealous of Daeseong."
"Well, at least you're aware that you're in the wrong."
"Yeah, I know. I just can't lose him. I can't afford to let that happen. I can't imagine a life without Tae. I-"
"Hey." Jimin called out softly, removing Jungkook's hands from his hair and placing his hands on the younger's shoulders. He continued, "Kook, don't underestimate Taehyung and your relationship, please. If you were able to make it out of a staged cheating with Taehyung not doubting you even once, y'all can go through anything. I mean it. I understand you're jealous, and that's totally reasonable. But, to be honest, you have to put up with it. Because you obviously can't go around putting restrictions on Tae and telling him not to hang out with some people."
Jungkook shook his head like a puppy, "I would never do that."
Jimin smiled, "I know that. But listen, though Tae must be spending his time with Daeseong at work, he can't possibly find the comfort and happiness he finds with you, with him. The two of you have gone through everything together, have been in love for two goddamn years. That kind of connection is very hard to build. You just need to trust Tae. And put in more effort by giving him more attention."
Jungkook nodded his head, "I will. I'll do everything."
"Also, talk to him about this. Ask him what he feels, okay? Don't keep it in the dark. You need to tell him you felt jealous today."
"Yeah, I'll let him know."
Jimin smiled wider, patting Jungkook on the back, "Good! Now, buy me a piece of chocolate cake. I deserve it." He said before flipping his imaginary long hair.
Jungkook chuckled, "Fine. Thank you, Hyung. I feel a million times better."
Jimin nodded his head, "I've known to have that effect that on people." He winked.
Jungkook shook his head and got up, walking towards the counter to get Jimin cake. He muttered under his breath, "Fuck, I hate you."
Jimin huffed, "I heard that, asshole."
Jungkook giggled, running before Jimin could reach out to him and hit him.
|10 MINUTES LATER|
"By the way, what happened about that whole thing with Yoongi Hyung and Hobi Hyung?"
Jimin almost choked on his cake before swallowing the bite and speaking, "Tae told you?"
Jungkook nodded his head, "Yeah."
"Gosh, we pinky promised. Are you kidding me?"
Jungkook snorted, "It's me. Of course he's gonna tell me."
Jimin rolled his eyes, "Right. Anyways, nothing happened. They're still not telling me. And they're still fucking. I heard them a couple of nights ago."
"And you're pissed that they aren't telling you about them, huh?"
"Yeah, duh. I'm their housemate for fuck's sake. Like, do they really think they're fooling me?"
Jungkook chuckled, "It's fine. Give them time. And don't be a dick to them. You left them at home during my song's ceremony for this reason right?"
Jimin sighed, "Yeah."
"They'll eventually have to tell us."
"Ugh. I can't wait though. Like, what's the harm in telling us? Their best friends?"
"Fine, here's a deal. If they don't tell us within a week. We'll expose them to Jin Hyung and Joonie Hyung." Jungkook outstretched his hand.
Jimin raised his eyebrows, "Ooh, I like it." He shook Jungkook's hand.
Jungkook chuckled.
Jimin spoke, "You should probably get going. Go plan something for Tae. Don't make it too big though. Just in case he gets mad at you. He'll love spending time with you anyway, so it doesn't matter."
"Right. I'll go pick him up from work."
"Nice!"
