A Different Beginning ~ Part 76 ~ Updated: 3/13/15 Late Evening
“How is your hand feeling?” Luke asked lightly touching the edge of my brace and I shrugged. His voice was warm and the scent of vanilla washed over me making me feel even sleepier.
“Okay. Just a little sore.” I smiled resting against his chest as I curled up under the covers closing my eyes. My nerves had finally settled and the warmth made me tired. Letting out a soft yawn, Luke lightly pushed my hair out of my face.
“And just a little sleepy as well.” He smiled laughing softly before placing a soft kiss on my forehead and I blushed softly. He was very gentle and knew just how to make me smile. Closing my eyes I took a soft breath.
“FOOD!” Gabriel’s voice echoes through the house and instantly I bolt up at the loud noise. Instantly, Luke’s hand slips around me to steady me. Gabriel walks into the kitchen area and glanced over to me with a smile. “Come on Trouble let’s get some food in that stomach of yours.” I glance down to Luke who nods and we shift over to the table. Foot steps can be heard from around the house as everyone comes down for lunch.
Sitting down in the middle of the right side of the table, I tuck my feet under me and wait for everyone to come down. Gabriel has the food spread out on the table and Silas has plates in hand while North stumbles around for cups and drinks. I smile as Nathan and Luke start to fill their plates as well as others which Silas passes over and North shouts drink orders out. Watching the contained chaos I watch happily trying to catch everything that is happening.
Mr. Blackbourne and Dr. Green are lightly chatting about the school and different medical issues that have been in the news recently while Kota and Victor talk about their mathematics class. North and Silas sit down, North sitting at my right as Nathan is at my left.
“Sang what would you like?” Luke asks me pulling my attention away from the conversation Silas and Gabriel are having about the food at the school. My eyes wonder about the table and I point out a few different boxes that look appetizing. Luke served me and I quickly took the plate before digging in with my fork. I was eating chicken when Gabriel caught my eye.
“Trouble do you want to use some chopsticks?” My eyes widened and I glanced at the two sticks he had in his hand. Quickly swallowing I glanced around the noisy table noticing that Dr. Green, Victor, and North were using them as well. Interested I nodded and Gabriel smiled handing me an extra set. Pulling them out of the wrapper I pulled them apart and tried to get a good hold on them with my fingers.
Laughter boomed in my ear and I glanced over at North who smiled at me. “Would you like some help baby girl?” He smiled demonstrating how to hold them. Working my fingers into the same positions I was able to pick up a piece of broccoli and bringing it to my lips. Chewing I smiled happily to North who ruffled my hair and I continued to try to pick up different pieces of food on my plate.
“Luke what are you doing?” I glanced up to see Luke stabbing at a piece of meet with one of the chop sticks in hand. I couldn’t help but giggle as he made an innocent face.
“I am spearing my food Gabriel.” He said and a few of the other’s laughed all eyes on Luke as he continued to try and get the piece of meat on his skewer but continued to miss.
Feeling full I sat back on my chair letting my hand rest on my lap. It had begun to sting a little as I worked with the chopsticks. I rubbed it slowly through the brace. Nathan’s hand found my knee under the table and I glanced over. His soft eyes met mine and I could see the worry spotting his vision. Quickly I placed my hand on his and gave his a gentle squeeze.
“What’s the matter Honey?” I smiled watching him and he smiled back slowly but I could still see that worry in his eyes.
“Is your hand hurting?” He asked and I bit my lip glancing down at my hand. Letting out a soft sigh and I shrugged.
“A little.” I smiled softly. “But I am okay.” Nathan’s eyes focused on me for a little longer but he seemed to find what he was looking for because he nodded letting the worry disappear from his eyes as he continued to focus on eating. His hand stayed on my knee however making me blush as he squeezed it lightly once and a while.
The others had started to clear the table and before I could stand up Nathan had taken my plate from me and headed over to the sink. I glanced over to Dr. Green who smiled as I approached. “Pookie what would you like to do for the rest of the afternoon?” I shrugged slightly unsure as to what everyone would want to do.
Mr. Blackbourne stepped forward lightly ushering me to the couch. “How about we watch a few shows and relax for a moment?” I smiled nodding thinking that would be a great idea. Shifting to the couch the TV flickered on and Kota settled behind me and Nathan in front. Curling up with the blanket from before the show Castle came on.
All of the boys chatted lightly as the joined us in the living area and soon enough I was curled up in Kota’s lap half asleep with my feet in Nathan’s lap as he lightly rubbed them through my socks and the blanket. Glancing over to Kota he smiled down at me and lightly rubbed my back. “Go ahead and sleep Sang.” He whispered and I closed my eyes slipping away.
I stood in the middle of forest snow covering the ground in white. It was as if I could look out for miles and miles and all I really could see was the trunks of the trees. The cold snow made my feet numb as I stood still. There were no birds, no cars, no people… Just complete silence. I took a breath letting it out slowly and my breath collided with the cold air transforming it into a light mist.
It was kind of piece full until there was an ear piercing scream. I started to run. Rushing fast through the trees I ducked and swung around the branches. There was something else in the forest and it wasn’t something I wanted to meet.
But I soon would as I tripped falling into a patch of snow. Shivering I stood still and slowly started to turn around the figure right above me. My heart pounded in my chest as I tried to let out a breath. Fear gripping me tightly.
I instantly sat up my eyes wide open. There were hands tightening around my waist and I bit my lip still in the dream. “Sang…” Kota’s voice washed over me and instantly I relaxed into his touch as he brought me close to his chest. “Easy…” He whispered into my ear and lifted me from the couch carrying me into the kitchen.
The faint sound of water going in the background and then silence I hid in Kota’s chest shivering in the blanket. “Mr. Lee?” Mr. Blackbourne’s voice washed over me and I let out a hitched breath.
“She had another dream.” He whispered softly and soft hands touched my back lightly seeking to comfort me. I continued to shaken scared and closed my eyes focusing on my breathing as I was shifted from one to the other.
I inhaled Mr. Blackbourne’s scent clinging tightly and he rubbed my sides slowly. “Mr. Lee head upstairs and get a bath running.” He whispered and lightly rocked me as he shifted from one room to another and then shifting to stairs. “Sang what was it about?” He whispered lightly holding me close to his chest as climbed the stairs.
“S-Someone wa-was ch-chasing me..” I whispered my breath hitching and Mr. Blackbourne paused placing a hand on my side signaling for me to stop. We reached the top of the stairs when I felt the air shift.
“Pookie? Owen whats going on?” Dr. Green shifted into view and his eyes widened meeting mine and he stepped forward slipping a hand to my neck checking my pulse.
“She had another dream. I am taking her to the bathroom to take a nice warm bath so she can calm her nerves.” Owen explained as Dr. Green’s hand moved to my back rubbing it lightly.
