Y/n POV
The week went by incredibly slow, painfully slow if you will. I've been ignoring Dalton since Thursday, it's now Friday. I know, only two days, but still. I made sure I had all my things before walking to the elevator and going to the main lobby. When the elevator doors opened, there stood Kelly at her desk, typing something
"Hey kels" I smiled
"Miss Russo" she smiled back
"What are you doing?" I asked
"Rescheduling Aaron's meeting to tomorrow" she explained
"Yikes, work on a Saturday" I said
"For him, thank god not for me" she laughed
I laughed back
"What are your plans for the weekend?" She asked
I shrugged
"Probably just gonna stay home and relax, I feel mentally drained" I said honestly
"I get it" she said
"What about you?" I asked
"Jake, my boyfriend, said he planned a very special date" she made an impressed face
"Ou la la" I teased
"Oh shut up" she lightly shoved my shoulder
I put my hands up in a surrender
Just then, Dalton walked out of the elevator. We made eye contact, but didn't say anything
"Should you get going?" She asked
"I drove myself today" I said
"What? Why?" She asked
Kelly knew better than anyone that Dalton and I are very very close, this is probably the longest we've ever gone without talking
"We got into a fight" I said honestly
She pouted before she spoke
"Im sorry" she said
"It'll all blow over, he'll apologize" I said
"So it's his fault?" She asked
"More like both, but what he said was the most hurtful" I explained
She nodded, telling me she understood
"Well, I hope you have a good evening and weekend" I smiled
"Thank you, you too" she smiled back
"Enjoy your date" I winked at her
"I will" she winked back
With that, I let out a laugh and walked outside to my car. As I was getting in, I saw Dalton sitting in his car on his phone. I didn't bother to make eye contact though, but I could definitely feel him looking at me. Instead, I started my car, buckled my belt, and drove off.
I know I might be overreacting a little bit, but what he said was hurtful, especially since we've always told each other everything since we were able to talk. I hated fighting with the Gomez siblings, especially Dalton because he's my absolute best friend. I didn't realize I was crying until my vision started blur when I hit a stop sign. A tear made its way down my cheek, to the corner of my lips. The saltiness of the singular tear just made me cry a bit more
"Fuck" I said to myself as I wiped them away and took a deep breath
There was no way a girl could be the cause for the end of our twenty five year friendship.
I took a deep breath and continued my way home with soft music playing in the background. As soon as I pulled into my driveway, I quickly made my way inside of my house, not wasting a minute. I closed my door and set my bag down by door, kicked off my shoes and sat in my couch
I looked around and noticed that it seems empty in here, I should get a dog or something. Yea, maybe I'll get a dog. Almost immediately after I sat down, my doorbell rang
"Ahhh!" I groaned
I stood up to my feet and walked to my door. I opened it to reveal Dakota
"Oh hey, did we have plans tonight?" I asked worried that I may have forgotten something
He lightly laughed
"No, Dalton told me to come check on you" he said
"Hm" I hummed
He nodded
"Well, come in" I said moving aside for him to walk in
"What's going on?" He asked as I took a seat on my couch
I shrugged
"Yes you do. Now tell me" he said
"I'm sure Dalton already told you" I said
"Yea, but there's two sides to every story right?" He asked
I nodded
"So tell me" he said
"We're fighting" I shrugged
He looked at me with an obvious expression
"Duh, but why?" He asked
I took a deep breath and started to explain everything to Dakota. There were times when his mouth dropped open in shock because he just couldn't believe his own brother
"Then he said something along the lines of no one ever said we have to tell each other everything. I don't know, he just said it like he didn't even care" I shrugged looking down
"I think it just slipped. I don't think he would actually say anything like that to hurt you. Maybe it was all in the heat of the moment" Dakota told me
"I don't know. Why did he send you over here anyways?" I asked
"Because obviously he cares" he said
"Did he tell you anything?" I asked
"He just kept telling me that he messed up. He even said that you drove yourself today. That never happens. You two have always rode with each other since you could drive" Dakota said
He was right, even in high school we would ride with each other because it just made sense
"He doesn't want this to end your friendship and quite frankly, I don't want it to either" Dakota said
"I don't think it will, but I'm gonna wait for him to apologize to me first" I said as I leaned more into the couch
"And you should. I don't think you did anything wrong. He's the one that said the hurtful things, not you" Dakota comforted me
I smiled at him for a good two to three seconds without saying anything
"What?" He asked
"You always know how to say the right things" I continued to smile
He just laughed as he shook his head
"You and him will be fine. He'll cave eventually. He knows he fucked up, he's just being stubborn. You know how he is" he told me
It's true. Dalton is very stubborn, he always thinks he's right and he never does anything wrong
"Yea" I said
"Can you believe that shit though" he said
I looked at him confused
"He's dating a pop star" Dakota said sounding amazed
"Oh yea, no. I can't believe it at all" I said
"Good for Dalton, now you have to find someone so you're not a third wheel" he said
"I just got out of a relationship" I shrugged
"I know, but you need someone whos actually gonna be there for you, not in a mean way, but Harry wasn't. He was always busy. It was either me or Dalton there for you" he said honestly
"Yea, you're right" I said
"You need someone to be there for you" he said
I nodded
"You'll find someone" he said standing up
"Where are you going?" I asked
"I'm gonna head out, you seem to be okay" he said
I pouted because I was lonely
"Stay?" I asked
He just looked at me with his head titled
"Please, we can watch movies, I can order food, and we can draw and come up with some new tattoo designs" I said
He thought for a moment. I knew I had him when a smile appeared on his face
"You had me at tattoos" he smiled
I smiled back and patted the spot next to me for him to sit
"Pick a movie" I said
"Already on it" he smiled
