Videogame- Wasteland 3.
(Y/N's POV)
I was in the barracks laying down after I went on another patrol run through the wastes, it was tough as usual but I got to find some old loot like a lighter and it still works so now I got my own lighter for my smokes and don't have to share one with someone now.
Y/N- Oh yeah.
The barracks were rowdy but I was in the zone that I couldn't care less about it and was gonna finally get a good nap for once since I joined up with the Rangers.
*BOOM!*
Ranger- WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?!?!
But that didn't last long and now they were panic all around. The captain of the barracks went inside with his weapon and had blood on his face already.
Captain- WE ARE UNDER ATTACK FROM THE PATRIARCH!! EVERYONE, GET YOUR WEAPONS AND FIGHT THOSE BASTARDS!!
I jumped out of the bed and ran to the armory to get my weapons, once I geared up I ran back outside and took cover. I peeked and saw that the Patriarch has already busted their way inside the camp.
Y/N- Goddamn it.
I saw two of them out in the open and took my chance to kill them. I shot the two in the head...
*Bang Bang!*
I got both of them but I quickly went back into cover as shots from all over were targeting me and I knew one screw up and I was dead. I waited and waited for the right time to run to another cover point but how it sounds over there, it doesn't sound like we are doing good. I heard the Patriarch troops searching the perimeters for any survivors to capture for slavery. Fuck that shit, I'll make a run for it so I don't have to go through that. I doubled check to see if the coast was clear and when I heard no more footsteps, I took the shot and sneaked my way out of the camp. I know I'm deserting the Rangers but you know what...
Y/N's mind- It's called the Wasteland in the first place, you don't have to be loyal to anyone. Only for your survival.
I took off my Ranger coat and everything involved with them on the ground with only keeping my rations, guns, and map so I can go to another nearby town where Ranger activity is not active there.
(No POV)
As the attack died down with the victory of the Patriarchs, the troops were doing another search for any survivors to take as slaves back to their base to present to their leader: Liberty Buchanan. A troop was searching in the woods when he stumbled upon a jacket on the ground. He picked it and took it to a search hound and had it sniff it. The dog barked and followed the scent to its owner.
Troop- Let's get him, boy.
Morning came around and Y/N set up his camp for the night and now was time to keep moving in order to reach the town. He packed up and headed out, walking for miles in a couple of hours made Y/N tired. So he rested in a dense woodland environment to keep himself hidden, but just as he laid down, he heard branches snap. Y/N looked for the source of the noise while taking caution, he sneaked around and his heartbeat was only getting faster ad he feels like someone was watching him. Y/N found nothing and went back to his spot but then...
"FREEZE RANGER!"
He stopped in his tracks and three Patriarch troops came out with their guns aiming at Y/N. He surrendered without a fight cause he knew fighting back would be a death wish so he didn't despite him wanting to. Troop one cuffed him and the other one put a bag over his head and stood him up and walked away not knowing where he was going. Y/N did know one thing...
Y/N's mind-This is probably Karma getting me back from deserting the Rangers. Damn it.
(Timeskip)
(Y/N's POV)
I woke up in a dark, damp, and dirty cell room with no one else with me, and not only that but I was tied up both my arms and legs. I looked around to see if there was anything I can use to break out of my rope but nothing sharp was around to use to cut it and plus, there were no sharp edges on the walls or anything like that so I'm pretty much screwed.
Y/N- Fuck.
I was in that cell for who knows how long but then I heard multiple people coming here so I pretended to be asleep still. The door opened and heavy footsteps walked in and stopped a second later.
"Wake up Ranger. I know you are not asleep."
Not wanting to piss off whoever was speaking, I opened my eyes and looked up but when I did. My heart froze in shock, I couldn't believe it.
That was the infamous Liberty Buchanan, the leader of the Patriarchs. Why did I have to get captured by these people?!
Liberty- There we go. Leave us, so we can talk one on one.
The troops left the cell and this got me very fucking scared on what is she gonna do to me?! Torture?! Starvation?! I don't know what the fuck!
Liberty- I'm impressed Ranger, you managed to escape with your life from last night's attack on your camp. But you deserted your group with no regard to rescue them. Why is that?!
What is going on here?! Why does she want to know about that?! *Sigh* I might as well answer her so I don't get tortured or something like that.
Y/N- I really didn't care for them to be honest with you. The only reason why I was there was cause my dad was in the Rangers and wanted me to join them even though I care not for them.
Liberty- I see, then you have no love for the Rangers.
Y/N- Nope, I always wanted to be a merchant. I always snuck out of training to learn from old books about business and stuff like that. I once even tried to sell my gear to get money to buy my way out of the Rangers but they caught me and I was punished soon after so...yeah.
She listened to my story and she stood there for a little while, I wasn't sure if she would believe me or not but I do really want to get into the merchant trade. She turned her attention back to me and went to my ropes and cut them off.
Liberty- So, you really want to be a merchant yes?
I shook my head, yes and she motioned me to follow her, and I did just that. The guards followed us behind us but I wasn't planning on running or attacking her or anything like that cause it would be suicide to do so. We walked to the main section of what I assume is the main base of Liberty and the Patriarchs, we went to the upstairs section, and then we arrived at a balcony where we can see the whole Patriarch civilization.
Liberty- I can start you up with a crew of merchants but of course, you have to follow the laws of my people.
Y/N- O-oh ok. But tell me this, why are you doing this?
Liberty- Cause simple, I need merchants to help expand the Patriarchs influence and we can't do that with slaves alone, we need to buy and sell many goods to keep our armies weel geared. Plus, you reminded me of someone I knew long ago, I never saw him again but he showed me a different side of this world and that I never forgot for years.
Someone she knew? No one knew this ever about her but then again, no one lived to tell the tale.
Liberty- So, will you join us and become a merchant for the Patriarchs. I can ensure that you will be well-protected as long you never break any of the laws around here.
I thought about it and I believe that even if I say no, she is just gonna kill me right here in her usual cold-blooded way. But for the most part, this is a rare opportunity for me. My own merchant line and I don't even have to fight in her army.
Y/N- You got a deal Liberty. I accept.
Liberty- Wise choice ex-ranger. Now, tell me your name.
Y/N- Y/N L/N.
Liberty- I can tell you already know who I am but you can just call me Liberty. Now, let's go and discuss your merchant deals and whatnot.
Y/N- OK.
We walked to a long table and began to discuss the plans for this and even though I will not miss the Rangers, I will miss dad.
Y/N's Mind- Goodbye dad, I'll miss you and tell mom I'm sorry.
(No POV)
As time went on, Y/N became a respected merchant of the Patriarch people while being feared by everyone else. Probably because when Y/N talked to someone and formed a bond with them, that person died the next day. But if that person is a woman, then that woman would be captured, tortured, and then thrown away to the radiated rivers. No one knows who is responsible not even Y/N when talking about it to Liberty. But what no one knew, Liberty was behind these murders all along, she couldn't help it. Those people got too close to Y/N and felt like she owns him so she gets rids of anybody she thinks is a competition to her. She remembered that Y/N is the man she met a long time ago and now that she found him, she will not let him out of her grasp ever. No one is safe from her wrath, her people, her enemies, her brothers, and even her own troops.
Liberty's mind- I finally found you and now...you are mine now. Forever and ever...Y/N L/N.~
