Delivering to a familar face

I cautiously walk up the gravel drive way, tiny pieces of loose gravel crunch underneath me.

The house I'm walking up to Is stunning.

House doesn't even do it justice.

Mansion was better.

Probably something I would never be able to afford in my life time.

The brown bag has some weight to it.

Mr gold didn't tell me what was in the package, only to make sure that it got to the location.

Most of the morning and afternoon I had spent with mr gold, being told what I was expected to do.

From what it sounded like I was to be his errand rat, simple enough.

Which was good because I had been given my first task when Mr gold handed me the brown bag and ordered me to deliver it to the occupant of this house.

I cautiously walk up the step, wondering exactly what I've gotten myself into.

Gathering my nerve, I press the doorbell.

There is a ring and then nothing.

I wait.

Trying to pass the time by scouting the house.

It could do with a fresh coat of paint and serious landscaping.

The lawn was unkept and the dried and crinkly bushes were hazardously placed.

The door slowly squeaks open and a pair of familiar blue eyes stare back at me.

It's him!

Jefferson A.K.A the man I ran over.

We both just stare at each other.

"You." I breath out.

Jefferson straightens up.

Aside from the small cuts here and there one could not think he had been hit by a car less than a week ago.

"How did you find me?" There wasn't any accusations in his tone one would usually expect when asked that question, but mere curiosity.

Their is something else in his eyes, something I can't quite place, dare I say it was amusement.

I hold the brown paper bag out to Jefferson.

"Mr Gold asked me to deliver this to you."

Jefferson stiffens.

He accepts the bag, and looks inside.

"Tell him that's perfect and I have already sent him his payment."

I turn to leave.

"Wait!"

I halt.

Turning towards a hopeful Jefferson.

"Would you like to come inside, I was just about to have some tea and it would be a shame to let it go to waist."

I am tempted but I needed to return to Mir gold and inform him of my success.

"I don't..."

"Please" he cuts me off.

I can't help but be taken aback.

There was Faint begging in his tone.

"It would be nice to get to know you better plus I never properly got to thank you for helping me the other night." He adds on.

"You do realise I'm the one that caused your injury's."

Jefferson merely shrugs his shoulders.

I should decline.

There was something almost familiar about Jefferson, his smooth voice gave me the fuzzys.

So I find myself nodding.

"Okay."

Jefferson pushed the door open wider and steps aside allowing me to enter.

He playfully tilts his head almost as in he was tilting an invisible hat.

I walk past him and enter the house.

It was even nicer on the inside.

Cream with hints of black and red, and furniture that looked very pricey.

Jefferson led me through the hallway and into what I presume is the living room.

What caught my attention was the stunning baby grand.

"You play?" I ask Jefferson.

He shakes his head

"No"

Okay.

Jefferson gestures to the white couch.

"Please take a seat, I'll go and fetch the tea."

He quickly departs leaving me by myself to cast my gaze around the room.

First thing that caught my attention was how clean it was.

Sure there were a pile of old looking book on the table, but aside from that.

Everything looked brand new, in fact I felt like I'd just walked into one of those home catalogue's you see in the store, with the perfect clean house that is doesn't even look like anyone lives their.

This is how I would describe this place.

Jefferson promptly returns, balancing the tea set on a sliver Tray

He places the Tray down on the table.

"Cream and sugar." Jefferson asks while pouring me my tea.

"Yes please, two sugars."

Jefferson adds the cream and two sugar cubes before passing the tea filled cup towards me.

I accepted it.

"Thank you."

Jefferson began pouring his own, I noted he took 4 sugar cubes.

Then while grasping his cup he walked around the table and sat next to me on the couch, leaving a small space between us.

Neater one of us speak for a while, caught up in drinking the warm tea.

Once my cup is half empty I decide to break the silence.

"So are the stitches healing."

Jefferson nods.

"Yes, it's fine."

He even pulls up his sleeve to show me the rapidly healing cut, my stitches still going strong.

Hesitantly I gently run the tip of my index down the incision feeling the jagged line under my touch.

Jefferson's breath hitched.

When I look up from my exploration I come face to face with Jefferson and intense Jefferson starting right back at me.

His enticing blue eyes seem to be grow darker I would liken them to two smouldering pools of gunmetal blue, they were so intense I had to look away.

The tension is building, the air seems warmer, my heart speeds up, beads of sweat form on my face.

A familiar tightening in my stomach.

It's then that I realise just how close we are, we were practically one person.

Clearing my throat I move to the left putting a couple of inches between us.

Jefferson seems to catch himself as well.

Clearing his throat he takes a sip of his tea.

"Is the tea okay?"

"Yes it's lovely, thank you."

"Good I wasn't sure if you liked camomile."

The Familiar tension has reduced, though only a little.

We Finish the tea in silence.

I rummage through my head trying to find away to start up a conversation that wouldn't lead to the outcome my body and mind was pushing me and possible Jefferson towards.

As if by luck this was the moment my bladder decided to make itself know.

"Do you mind if I use the bathroom."

"No problem, it's down the hall on the left, you can't miss it."

I thank him before easing myself from the sofa and following his directions.

As I make my way toward the bathroom I can't help but Glance around.

Something that catches my attention or the lack of something I suppose.

This house looks very nice, lavishly decorated, but that was the thing it lacked any sense of a home.

I felt like I was walking through an open house rather than a mans home.

No pictures, everything looked brand new as if it had never been used, everything in prime condition.

Not exactly the home of a bachelor.

Still I try not my I pay it any mind, it's not my business.

After Finishing my business and washing my hands I make my way back to the living room.

Jefferson is still in the exact spot drinking his tea.

Though he had composed himself in my absence.

I clear my throat.

"I really must be getting on my way now Jefferson."

Jefferson look over his shoulder tea cup still in his palm.

Blue eyes rake over my form, i almost felt like I was under observation.

Finally Jefferson nodded his head and places his tea cup on the table.

"Very well, allow me to escort you out."

He get up from the sofa and with a firm but warm palm on my back, leads me the the front door.

The heat from Jefferson palm quickly penetrated the thin Cotten of my top.

I wrap my coat tighter around me in order to keep out the slight breeze that had acclimated during my time with Jefferson.

I can already spot my car I'm the distance and will only take me a moment to reach it if I run.

I turn to Jefferson who was still perched my the door.

"Thank you for the tea."

A smile covers Jefferson's face.

And not his usual half smirks, this was a proper gentle smile, his eyes were soft and held affection.

Affection that was directed at me.

"I hope to see you again."

Tingles run down my spine.

I swear I've heard that before.

during my inner monologue Jefferson has given me on last look before promptly shutting the door.

Leaving me with these unfamiliar tingles.

The chilly breeze give me the motivation to reach my car as quickly as possible.

I only have a moment to compose myself before my phone rings.

Not really paying attention to the caller I press the accept and bring the phone to my ear.

On the other line I hear what sounds like panting.

"Hello."

"Hallie" a very familiar vivid pants out.

"Ashley?"
