Taehyung got out of his bed and looked into the mirror. 'I look like a mess.' he thought and proceeded to brush his hair with his fingers to look the least bit presentable. He felt a little guilty for making Jungkook leave his sleep and come see him at 2 in the morning, just because he wasn't feeling the best. But he had tried to say no yet Jungkook was persistent. Although, he was very thankful his boyfriend was here to see him.
He walked up to the door and opened it cautiously, trying to make the least amount of noise. As soon as he opened the door, he was pulled into a tight, warm hug. Jungkook wrapped his arms around Taehyung and pulled him close, Taehyung repeated the action. It was as if Jungkook was trying to shield and protect Taehyung from all the harm in the world.
Taehyung let out a content sigh of relief as he smelled the familiar scent of cologne and felt the familiar warmth around him, one that he had started associating with home and his safe place. Jungkook swayed him in his arms as he always did and planted a little peck on the top of his head.
He whispered, "How're you feeling Tae?"
"Better now that you're here." He smiled.
"Wanna go for a drive my love?" He pecked Taehyung's cheek.
Taehyung nodded his head, leaning in so he could leave a chaste kiss on Jungkook's lips.
"This is my first time going for a midnight drive." Taehyung announced, looking out at the empty streets. It felt very tranquil, calming and peaceful. Looking outside at the dim lit roads while sitting in your lover's car.
"Me too baby." Jungkook placed his hand on Taehyung's thigh and moved it up till it brushed against Taehyung's palm. He shifted Taehyung's hand's position so he could interlock their fingers. He brought their hands up to his mouth and kissed the back of Taehyung's hand. Then he rested their hands on Taehyung's thigh as he softly caressed Taehyung's knuckles.
"Really?"
"Yeah, I never had anyone to go out so late with."
"Oh." Taehyung responded and his chest swelled with pride.
"So, elaborate a little. Why were you down again?"
"I really don't know, one of those I'm sad for no reason kinda sad. I even felt a little lonely for some reason. I would normally just listen to music and feel better. But today, I just somehow really needed you. Like my mind wouldn't stop screaming at me. It kept saying 'JUNGKOOK' 'JUNGKOOK' 'JUNGKOOK'." Taehyung shrugged.
Jungkook chuckled and squeezed Taehyung's hand.
"What? Why are you laughing?" Taehyung chuckled too.
"Just, it feels nice."
"What feels nice?"
"Knowing you're so in love with me." Jungkook winked.
Taehyung scoffed, "You too are so in love with me."
"Really?" Jungkook teased as he raised his eyebrows.
"Why else would you be driving at 2 in the fucking morning?"
"True." Jungkook chuckled, leaning his head against the head rest.
"I already feel better, are you a magician or what?"
Jungkook laughed. He spoke remembering something he had read online, "Babe?"
"Hm?"
"Are you a magician?"
Taehyung laughed, "Why?"
Jungkook looked right at Taehyung, "Because every time I look into your eyes, everything else disappears." He quickly leaned from his seat to peck Taehyung's cheek.
Taehyung laughed as he squealed, "Focus on the road! What're you doing?"
After another ten minutes of laughing over stupid pick up lines and lame puns, Taehyung asked, "Kook?"
"Hm?"
"Can-"
"You're hesitating, stop hesitating in front of me. Speak your mind. You really think I'm going to judge you?" Jungkook squeezed Taehyung's hand and looked at him.
Taehyung looked at Jungkook with an arched brow and an amused smile. He wondered how Jungkook knew he was a little hesitant for neither had he stuttered nor had his voice been shaky when he spoke.
"How'd you know I was hesitating?"
"Because I know you, you were fidgeting. I can read you like an open book." A satisfied smile played at Jungkook's lips.
"Well, okay Jeon I-know-everything-about-Taehyung Jungkook," Taehyung said and Jungkook snorted.
"I want ice cream." He looked at Jungkook with a pout.
"At 2.30 in the morning baby?"
"I wanted McDonald's first, but then I thought about the same so I came down to ice cream." He giggled like a child, showing off his boxy smile.
"God, Tae I'm-"
"No you have to eat, I don't care." Taehyung responded, already knowing what Jungkook was about to say.
"But Tae-"
"Baby you have the best body in the world, you can take it. We'll share if you want."
"But Tae, your ice creams are overloaded. Like so much chocolate sauce and double scoops and you're gonna get a cookie on the top too-"
"Then you can have your own. And besides, I really can't do without my Kookie y'know." Taehyung winked.
Jungkook rolled his eyes with a laugh, "You're something else Tae."
"I know." Taehyung bit the inside of his mouth to prevent himself from laughing.
"I can't believe I'm eating cookie dough ice cream at 3 a.m." Jungkook complained but his words didn't match his actions.
Taehyung snorted, "Says the one who's gulping down ice cream as if he's been starved for days."
"Well, technically, I haven't eaten since the past 5 hours and you're supposed to eat every 2 hours-"
"Shut it Jeon, I don't want health lessons. Let me enjoy my ice cream."
Jungkook chuckled.
The two were currently sitting on a bench in a park opposite the ice cream parlor. It wasn't very far from their homes. It was like a midpoint between Jungkook and Taehyung's house.
"Tae,"
"Hm?"
"I need you to do something for me." Jungkook spoke as he ate the last spoon of his ice cream and put the cup on the side. He turned his body to look at Taehyung who still had half of his ice cream left. Well technically, he did take double the portion as Jungkook's.
"What is it babe?"
"Look here." Jungkook put his index finger under Taehyung's chin to turn his head.
"I want you to promise me that you won't hide anything from me. I want you to tell me everything, every little problem of yours, it doesn't matter if it's silly or not. I need to know. And you don't have to hesitate Tae, you know I'll never judge you. You can speak to me openly, like you're speaking to yourself." Jungkook looked at Taehyung. The boy had a small smile on his lips and his eyes were sparkling. Jungkook could feel so much love pouring out of his entire being, he could see it in the way Taehyung looked at him.
"Will you promise me baby? Pinky promise?" Jungkook held his pinky out.
Taehyung chuckled, "Pinky promise." He interlocked their pinkies.
"It's just that, it was so late, I didn't want to disturb your sleep-"
"As I said before, my sleep and comfort is nothing in comparison to you. You can call me at any hour of the day and I'll be there for you and I need you to understand that. I don't want you to suffer alone, ever. We'll share the pain and joy, always."
"Always." Taehyung nodded.
"I'm going to tell you the same kook. You need to promise me too, that you'll tell me everything, everything going on and I promise I'll always be there for you."
"Pinky promise." Jungkook smiled wide and so did Taehyung and they interlocked their pinkies again.
"I love you Kook." Taehyung kissed Jungkook's nose and smiled at Jungkook's laugh as he snuggled in Jungkook's chest.
"Love you too Tae."
