'Fuck, I can't believe I'm doing this. What if all of this goes to waste? What if he says no? Oh my god.'
Jungkook let his mind produce all negative thoughts as he opened the door to Taehyung's house.
He shook his head a little, as if he was shaking away all the anxiety and focusing on his goal: Get the house ready for Taehyung. It was only 1 p.m. though. As he had said, Taehyung wouldn't be home for another 7 hours. But, being the perfectionist that he is, Jungkook thought the time would be just right. He needed everything to be perfect, not a thing should be misplaced for his baby. He wanted Taehyung's first birthday with him to be the most memorable one he's ever had.
He entered the house as he dropped the bag containing the huge number of supplies he had brought with him. He scanned the house, creating a blueprint for what he wanted to do and where he would put the stuff he's got. He had with him things like balloons (a lot of them, that is). He had normal ones, red heart shaped ones and a few helium filled balloons that would say, 'HAPPY 22 TAE'. Though the main event of tonight would be him asking Taehyung to be his boyfriend, he couldn't completely ignore the fact that it was his birthday too. Therefore, he aimed for a good balance of both. In the first half he would only focus on him asking him to date him, and the second half would be dedicated to his birthday.
In the span of the next 30 minutes, all the friends had assembled in the house. The first one was Jimin, he had come early to help Jungkook as he had promised. Jin and Namjoon were the last ones to enter. They had just come in as they commented.
"Wow, y'all have already done so much. This looks so good already." Namjoon said as Jin hurried to get the cake in the fridge before the icing started to melt. He had made the boys' favourite chocolate cake with a twist (and tons of strawberries on the top, obviously).
It had been two hours since Jungkook had started setting everything in place. Half of the balloons were inflated and floated around the house, while the other half were already put. The theme was red and purple. Red for the romance part and purple because it was Taehyung's favourite colour.
Jungkook got up from sitting down as he stretched his limbs. He looked at Jin as he placed the helium balloons on the wall. "Hyung! The T is slanted, what are you doing? And the gap between A and E is too much."
"I'm trying my best Jungkook. Get your ass up here and do it yourself if you have an issue." Jin retorted, a little tired. His muscles hurt, he had been trying to get the balloons up for a while now, they just wouldn't stick. And now that he had successfully taped them to the wall, Jungkook thought it wasn't good enough.
"Fine!" Jungkook walked to Jin and swatted at his hip, indicating him to get down from the ladder. Jin smiled in relief as he walked down and sat on the couch to ease the tension in his body.
While Jungkook and Jimin were blowing the balloons, Jin and Namjoon were sticking them to the ceiling and walls. Yoongi was busy getting the mic connected to the house speakers and Hoseok was getting a basket of Taehyung's favourite snacks look pretty. On the dining table, there were 7 wrapped boxes in red and gold wrapping paper and one gift that was different and unwrapped. The cake and food were in the fridge. They had called for Taehyung's favourite food from his favourite restaurant.
"Guys," Jungkook began as he climbed down the ladder.
"Let's take a break, I'm pretty sure all of you are hungry. Let's go to the cafe!"
Relieved sighs and cheers were heard from the others as they instantly left their work and got ready to go. They were afraid they wouldn't get a single break knowing how Jungkook wanted everything to be perfect. He would be like this in other occasions too, but this one was special, this one was about Taehyung, nothing could go wrong.
|7:15 p.m.|
"Jimin Hyung, it's time. You have to text Tae right now."
"Yeah." Jimin grabbed his phone.

"Ugh, he's sad." Jimin put his phone in his pocket as he said.
"WHAT?! WHY?!" Jungkook almost screamed, looking at Jimin with wide, concerned eyes.
The others, including Jimin chuckled as they shook their head at their bestfriend being madly in love.
"He says who wouldn't be pissed when you have 8 hours of classes on a Saturday during winter break, a day before your birthday." Jimin replied.
"Ugh I know, my poor baby, this better make him happy." Jungkook looked around the living room. Everything was complete and the area looked beautiful. Gold and purple fairy lights lined the entire ceiling, making the atmosphere and air in the room look purple. The balloons were in place with the 'HAPPY 22 TAE' placed in the center. The bag of confetti was placed in a corner, hidden and would be thrown when the clock struck 12. Taehyung's gifts were neatly placed on the table with purple ribbons scattered over them, giving it an aesthetic feel. Jungkook's main gift was safely tucked in his pocket.
Jungkook smiled as he looked around, satisfied with their hard work, "Hyungs, thank you so much for making this happen. It's even prettier than what I imagined it to be."
They all smiled and nodded in acknowledgement. Jungkook continued, "So, as per the plan, Jimin is going to pick Tae up. I'm going to get ready and all of you can also go home and rest. We'll meet here at 11:20, sharp and Jimin will bring Tae at 11:50. All good?"
Five different kinds of 'yes' and 'yup's were heard. Jungkook displayed his infamous bunny smile as he said, "Okay, see y'all soon!"

'I hate today, what the fuck.'
Taehyung looked at his watch as he sat in his class, extremely bored, pissed and tired. His day had been absolute shit. If having eight hours of classes wasn't enough, it was his birthday tomorrow and he didn't see any signs of his friends planning anything for him.
'We'll do something, okay??' He remembered his conversation with Jimin.
'So they really don't have anything planned huh?'
Even though thoughts like these floated in his mind, he suppressed them. He knew he shouldn't be too selfish and should be grateful for smaller things. But who doesn't like to be the center of attention on their birthday? Be pampered?
Actually, on any other day, he probably wouldn't feel this way. He was truly annoyed because he hadn't spoken to Jungkook all day. The boy hadn't even wished him good morning. Taehyung had messaged him but he had not replied. At least he didn't leave Taehyung on seen. A part of Taehyung wondered if something was wrong, but he prayed to God for everything to be fine.
He really didn't know. So he slumped in his chair and let a sigh of relief as he heard his professor dismiss him.
When he walked out of the hall, Jimin was already there, seated in his car. Taehyung slightly smiled at him as he got in.
Jimin looked at Taehyung's expression and understood why he was sad immediately. He could read Taehyung like an open book. He tried to hide his smile as he visualized the night, how happy Taehyung would be. How wrong he is to think his bestfriends didn't plan anything for him.
Oh, he was in for a surprise.

Thursday Update!!!
Holy shit I didn't update all day-

Sorry for updating late, my life has been a mess lately, I almost missed my exam today and completely forgot I had to update 🤦♀️
