Chapter 10

~Greys pov~

Of course thats the first thing Ray said. I couldn't handle it. I had mixed emotions from sadness, pity and anger. Mostly anger though. I knew the sadness will come later when I get back.

When I ran out the door I went under the patio. There was a little entry way. I sat there for a while just thinking. Then I got hungry. I walked inside and see Ray looking upset. When he saw me he got even angrier. I just rolled my eyes.

"You are so dramatic. You always want things to be about you. You wrote that song for the band. The band you're not in. Julie's in it. So she's going to be the one singing it." He rants. Then he calms down.

"Look im sorry for yelling, but you wrote the song for the band. If you didn't want Julie to sing it, you shouldn't have written it." I just nod my head knowing there is no point in arguing.

I grabbed an apple and went back to my spot under the patio.

~Julie's pov~

"I don't know why she got so upset. She did write the song for the band.". "Julie. She did an amazing job and the first thing your dad said to her was I can't wait for Julie to sing it." Alex says. "Yah. I mean he didn't even tell her good job." Luke agrees. Reggie went to follow Grey to wherever she was going.

"Look she didn't even want to play in front of you and Ray because of that. Its like whatever she does or get, Ray makes sure you get more spotlight." Alex says. I was shocked. That's not true. I share the spotlight with everyone.

"Yah. Julie did you even know thats shes been able to play guitar for years?" Luke asks. My eyes widen. "No. How do you know?". "Because she told me.".

"She doesn't talk to you or Ray because she doesn't want to keep being compared to you." Alex says.

"Wow. I never knew she was like that. I thought she was just grieving mom and didn't want to talk to anyone.".

~Reggie pov~

I followed Grey. She went under the patio. It was like a secret room. It had a tiny little door and windows that looked over the mountains. It was actually really nice.

"Grey?". "What" she said with no emotion in her voice. "Whats wrong?"
"Whats wrong Reggie? I just preformed a song I wrote and played guitar in front of my family for the first time ever. They have never heard a song I wrote. And the first thing out of Ray's mouth is I can't wait for Julie  to sing it. Also he said he can't wait for her  to fix our song. So no Reggie im not okay." she yells.

I know she didn't mean to yell at me, so I didn't mind. I know she needed to get this out. She looked like she wanted to punch something. "Im sorry Reggie. I didn't mean to go off on you." She whispers. "Its okay. I understand.". I put an arm around her shoulder and scoot her closer to me.

"Rays right. We wrote that song for the band. I knew Julie was going to sing it...I'm just being dramatic." She whispers the last part as her voice cracks. "Look at me." I say softly. She does. "Its not the fact that Julie's singing it. Thats not what bothers you. What bothers you is that Ray didn't even acknowledge how great you are. " I say looking into her green eyes. She just nods. I notice she does that a lot.

"Thanks Reggie." She said laying her head on my shoulder. I hum in response and put my head on hers. We just look out at the mountains.

~Luke pov~

"So its settled." I say grinning. We just made a great plan. "When do we play at the café?" Julie asks. "In summer." Alex answered. We will fill Reggie in on the plan and it will be set.
