5 years later

Four beeps of the passcode, the sound of the door opening.

Wei Ying deeply inhaled filling up his nostrils with the familiar smell of his apartment. If loneliness could smell, he would have been overwhelmed by it. It was the very thing he kept the world blind about.

With a sigh, he took off his jacket. He removed his tie and loosened up his shirt, relaxing his shoulders. He walked over to the kitchen counter to make a coffee for himself. He needed some caffeine in his system to make it through the latter part of the day.

Once it was done, he went over to the glass wall of his living room. He gazed at the view beneath him while sipping his coffee.

The lights turning on, vehicles on the road... It had been long since the last time he felt fascinated by it. Nevertheless, he kept looking. Blankly staring at it with numb feelings, reflecting his monotonous life.

The doorbell went off, pulling him back to reality.

He kept his mug on the coffee table and went over to the door.

He opened it.

"Wei Ying," said the visitor.
