Machines

Tell us we can't read

Tell us we can't solve x + 598

Tell us we're stupid

Tell us we're making you look bad.

America, we're not your lab rats.

We are students, people.

Ones who are just as worthy to stand their ground as you are.

Tell us not to cheat

Tell us to raise our hands

Make sure we never speak out of turn.

God forbid we ever voice our opinions in this metal contraption of a world.

One by one, we watch them fall.

They are machines as they walk the line.

But we won't take it.

We'll stand tall.

Tell us we're ugly

We don't fit the mold.

Watch us take our place in memory of those who've fallen.

They never knew of the wonders that wait,

Once you're outside the metal gate.

Laughing with glee we'll escape unharmed.

You may have given us an education,

But you can't have our minds.
