Barry's P.O.V.

"I need to go. Don't you ever forget what I said." I heard Megan tell me on the phone. Her voice trembled. I thought I could hear someone else with her.

"Wha-" before I could even respond, the called ended. What's going on?

"What's wrong, Barry?" Joe stood next to me at the entrance of the precinct.

"I don't know." All I did was stare at my phone. "Megan was talking like she was gonna die." I look up at Joe. "I think she's in trouble."

"What did she say?"

"She confessed that she loved me and to not forget it. It sounded like she was crying."

"Do you have any ideas where she is?"

"She didn't say, but she had a tracking device on her phone." I pulled up the app on my cellphone and checked for her phone's location.

Joe stared at me like I was crazy. "You are one overprotective boyfriend."

"I had no choice, she knows about my power, so I have to make sure she stays safe. And right now, I don't think I'm doing my job. I can't risk losing her, Joe." I pause. "This might just save her life."

My eyes scanned my phone's screen for a red dot on a map. "She's here!" I pointed at my phone and showed Joe. Then I zoomed in and took a closer look at where she was. "Why would she be on that side of the city? That's where she said her vision was..."

I suddenly realized why she was so freaked out on the phone. "Joe, find Megan's dad and take him into custody. He's going to kill her!" That's all I said before speeding out of the building, not caring if I blew my cover or not. That's not important right now. What matters is keeping Megan safe.

I slow to a stop when I see a body, face down on the ground in a pool of blood. No. Please, Lord please let her be alive. I can't lose her. She's everything to me.

I gently turn the body over. Her body was covered in blood, and I could see the gruesome wounds. Her eyes were slits, barely open. She was still alive. Just barely.

"Hang in there. Stay with me, Megan." I picked her limp body up, and realized how cold her skin was getting. She lost a lot of blood. Too much blood.

I zoomed to the nearest hospital and ran in with normal speed. "Someone please help her!" I shouted out loud, causing everyone to stop what they were doing. A few nurses and doctors sprinted up toward me with a bed and I gently lay her on it. I followed them until a nurse stopped me from entering a room.

"Sir, you're going to have to wait. We'll inform you when you can visit her." She sent me back to the waiting room.

When I sat down I called Iris. My foot was repeatedly tapping the floor.

"What's up, Barry?" Iris sounded cheerful as usual, oblivious to what happened.

"I need you to come to the hospital. Right now." My voice was quivering.

"What happened?" Iris' happy tone left and she got worried.

"It's Megan."

"Where is she?" Iris ran up to me when she arrived at the waiting room.

"They took her in a room. She lost a lot of blood."

The blood drained from her face. "What happened to her?" We sat down on the uncomfortable seats.

"Her dad stabbed her."

"No, he couldn't have! He wouldn't do that!" I shook my head at Iris. "Right?"

"He's the one who killed her mom and cousin."

"Oh my God..." Iris covers her mouth and closes her eyes.

Why didn't I believe her when she thought her dad was going to kill her? Why didn't I go with her instead of staying to work? I promised to protect her and I failed. God, please don't take her.

Hours later...

I guess Iris and I dozed off for a while, because the next thing I know is that it's one in the morning. I walk up to the person at the desk. "Are we able to see Megan now?"

She raises her eyebrows at me. "Sorry sir, only immediate family."

I put my hands down on the desk and snap at her. "Her mother's dead and her father is the one who stabbed her. Now can her friends go see her?"

The woman looked startled at my sudden outburst. "Let me see if it's okay." She holds up a finger and checks with her advisor on the phone. "Go ahead. She's in the ICU. Room 4."

I run back to Iris and shake her awake. "Come on, we can go see Megan!"

"Right now?" Her sleepy eyes scanned the room.

"Why do you think I woke you up? Come on."

We both sprinted as fast as we could to the room (I didn't use my super speed, but I thought about it).

Before we entered, a nurse stopped us at the door. "Only one person can go in at a time."

Iris and I turn to each other. "Ladies first." I did a little bow and let Iris visit Megan.

Don't get me wrong, I would've gone in first. But why would she want to see me after I failed to protect her? She probably blames me for this. Who wouldn't? Hell, I'd blame me if I was her.

About ten minutes later, Iris came out from the room. Her eyes were red and her cheeks were stained with mascara from weeping.

I could feel her watching me as I walked into the hospital room and closed the door.

There was a doctor writing something down on a clipboard to the right. "Will she be okay?" I question.

The man looks up and turns toward me. "Hard to say. She lost most of her blood." Then he walked out of the room, leaving me alone with Megan.

I sat down on the edge of the bed. She looked like she was dead. Her body was almost as white as snow. When I picked her hand up, I noticed hold cold it was.

I stayed quiet for a while and just took her appearance in. The only sound in the room was the constant beep of the heart monitor.

"I'm sorry." I choked back tears. I rub the back of her hand with my thumbs. "I failed to protect you and I'm sorry." A few tears made their way down my face. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you when you said your dad might be the killer. I'm sorry I didn't tell you immediately that I had super speed." I take a deep breath. "I should've told you how I felt about you sooner."

Get a grip, dude. I try to stop the tears from falling. I move my hand to her cheek and gently put my forehead on hers. "I love you, Megan. I can't lose you. So please," I swallowed, my throat dry. "please, don't leave me."

I brushed a strand of hair behind her ear as I leaned forward ever so slightly and touch her cold lips with mine.
