Megan's POV

Where's Mason? He should be back by now, shouldn't he? An hour must've passed since he said he was getting lunch.

It's not that I'm waiting for my food. I'm starving, but I don't care about that right now. Is Mason in danger? Or did he get busy with something?

I've attempted numerous times to get up from the bed and after I succeeded and tried to leave the room, I discovered the door was locked. Seriously, after all the effort I put in standing up, this is what I get?!

I'm laying back on the bed, not sure what to do. I'm completely useless in this situation; I can't even leave to find my brother.

The door silently opens and someone enters. It wasn't Mason. If it was, he would've said something as he entered.

I immediately sit up and ignore the burning sensation in my back. I find Blade sitting on the edge of the bed with an innocent smile spread across her lips.

"Hello, Meg."

"Don't call me that," I growl in response. "Only my friends and...family can call me that."

By family, I only mean my mom, Mason, and Barry. It's a very limited list.

Blade tilts her head to the side like Barry sometimes does. "Aww come on, don't tell me you don't remember me."

"The girl who burned me? How can I forget about a menace like you?" I reply.

"Tsk, tsk. Megan, I expect better from you. I'm not the menace here if you compare me to Jaycee."

My blood boils at the sound of her name. "Emma Grace."

"My name's Blade," Emma glares at me.

"Emma Grace," I repeat and cautiously stand up from the bed. "You...you changed. What happened to the nice cousin I knew?"

Emma stays silent and avoids my eyes.

"Where's Mason?"

Her eyes flicker back to me for a small instant before putting on her fake smile again. "No worries, he's fine."

She was hiding something. "Where is he?"

"That is none of your concern right now. It's classified information unless you join me."

What would Mason and Barry want me to do? Should I join Emma?

"What're you going to make me do if I join?" I can't believe I'm considering this.

"You'll just have to find out."

I shake my head and narrow my eyes at her. "Forget it. This is all a stupid game to you."

Emma stands and walks towards the door. She glances over her shoulder at me, "You'll change your mind eventually. When you do, knock on the door and the guard will take you to me."

"I'd rather walk barefoot through hell than join you."

She opens the door and sneers. "You're lucky I feel the slightest bit of compassion for you. You would've been dead by now if I didn't," she exits and slams the door shut.

Compassion? If she was anywhere near compassionate, I wouldn't have lost an eye! I wouldn't look awful right now if she cared about me!

I sit on the bed with my back against the wall and take the engagement ring off again. I mindlessly flip it around between my fingers.

I knew I would miss Barry, but it never occurred to me how agonizing it would be. What was he doing right now? Was he having a tough time moving on, or did he get a new girlfriend already? Was he dating Iris? No, he wouldn't. Iris still has Eddie.
