Chapter 8: A Chase

Start from the beginning

Elbowing our way through the crowd after the Voider was extremely difficult, seeing as most players glared at us and elbowed us back 'accidently.'

Yeah, yeah old lady. We get it. You don't like being shoved. No need to hit us with a purse.

I snickered at Wels' comment, knowing he would never say something like that out loud. We continued our chase, seeing as though Xizara was not slowing his pace. In response, we quickened our pace, slowly gaining on Z.

"XIZARA!" I yelled, trying to catch his attention, but my voice got lost in the sea of people. I groaned in frustration.

Stop groanin' like a baby and hurry up!

Shut up, Wels.

He snickered, never slowing his pace. Together we managed to shove our way towards Zara, until we were about 50 feet behind him. (I have no clue how far that is lol I am horrible at distance stuff) We both called out to Z, our voices tumbling over each other as we tried to both control our mouth at the same time. The result was a inhuman grumble of sounds. Players yet again gave us nervous glances and sped up their walk as we let out the merged yell.

You speak.

I let Wels take control of our mouth, so he yelled out to Xizara.

"XIZARA! WAIT! Z!"

This time, the Voider spun around, surprise evident on his face. I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't him turning and running the other way, no longer caring if he shoved anyone to the ground. I felt Wels groan, but I had already stepped forward, ready to chase after him, and he had no choice but to follow unless he wanted us to face-plant onto the asphalt.

We now ran, full-speed, after the white-haired boy, trying not to care too much about who we knocked to the ground. Much to my dismay, Xizara broke out of the crowd, making a mad dash into a nearby alley way. By the time we made it to the alley, Z had gained distance, being able to run without obstacles for several seconds before we made it into the clear.

When we finally left the crowd, we saw Xizara turn a corner at the end of the alley. I only sped up my stride, Wels following suit, and we chased him down the dirty path.

The buildings in the Market had all been just plopped down wherever, with roads only coming in after the buildings, so there were miles of maze-like back streets and alleys in The Market. After several turns, we had trapped Zara in a corner.

You take full control. Your closer to him.

Wels was going to give me control? He never did that?

You sure?

Nope.

But I felt him take the back seat of our mind, leaving me to drive our body on my own. I quickly took control of the mental wheel, knowing the left side of our body would go limp if I didn't. When I grabbed onto Wels' side, I shook my arms and legs, getting used to controlling a full body, seeing as it has been a long time since I have last had complete control.

Don't hurt us.

I rolled my eyes at his statement.

I won't. Hopefully.

I took a step forward, instinctively putting the right foot in front of the other first. I almost stumbled to the ground when I forgot I had to move the left one too.

How do players control two legs and two arms all the time? It's exhausting and confusing.

Xizara had backed into the wall, looking terrified. He had a dagger in his right hand. It was shaking.
