(28) Worst Comes To Worst

The green haired boy looked at us in thanks before the three of us returned our attention to the man in the bandages. Then I noticed the swords. Sharp, pointed edges that seemed to glitter under the blood they soaked in.

I felt a pang in my chest, remembering the now vague memories of my late father's gruesome injuries when I came back with Dad that one day (A/N: first of all I don't really put notes in the middle of chapters but here's the thing, this sounds confusing. The 'Dad' she's referring to here is Aizawa).

I gasped violently, eyes watering slightly when I felt a grip on my shoulder. Todoroki gripped my shoulder firmly as he stared into my eyes.

"Are you feeling alright?"

I blinked twice before refocusing on the situation at hand. There were two possibly injured heroes on the ground. Three other unharmed students and an infamous killer. "I-I'm fine, thanks Todo-kun. Don't worry about me. We need to deal with this first."

Deku shot me a worried look when I noticed Stain draw a sword from behind his back.
"NO!" I screamed, hoping shield would reach him in time. I was desperate. Thankfully, a purple barrier appeared in between the two, the sword bouncing soundlessly off my newfound shield.

'Agh.. I used too much energy for that. I need to be more careful about reserving my strength or we won't be able to help Iida and the other hero.'

I clutched my chest once again, the earlier pain dulling from the rush of adrenaline I'd felt trying to protect Deku.

"We need to detain him as fast as possible. You two need to work together to do that, okay? I'll help the others," I pleaded at Todoroki and Deku, who just nodded silently.

'If they can manage to fend him off until reinforcements arrive, I can focus my energy on healing these two.'

I waved my hand and created something of a Purple Flame dome around us, cutting off the Hero Killer's ability to further harm the injured heroes. It was a pretty large creation, and I could feel the significant drain in my energy after sealing it off.

Between the two of them, I noticed that the older hero seemed more injured than Iida, who appeared to be paralyzed.

I rushed over them immediately, making the dome slightly smaller in hopes we weren't taking up too much space and distracting our other two classmates, as well as trying to conserve some of my depleting energy.

"Iida, I'll be with you in just a second." I rushed over to the fallen hero who made an attempt to scold me for meddling in dangerous affairs.

"You and your friends should've left while you still could. It was just me and the boy here he's wanted after all."

I gave him a questioning look, "But then what kind of hero would I be if I couldn't help those in need?"

Then I produced a small but vibrant green flame and placed it next to his injury. "You guys are paralyzed, aren't you?" Between the numerous visits I've had at UA prior to my enrolment as an official student, Recovery Girl had shown me some of the basics of certain medical care and identification aspects.

"Yes. Your friend over there had just made the conclusion that by consuming his victims blood, Stain is able to immobilize them."

I understood now, although the new information only added to the worries I had for Deku and Todoroki. However, I just focused on my patient. "This flame will most likely remove the paralysis, although I don't recommend you moving just yet. Your wound needs to heal first."

I then walked over to Iida, who was laying basically face down on the pavement. Then I noticed the stab wound in his shoulder, which was earlier obscured from my vision by the way he was positioned. "Oh no..." I whispered.
