Alex stood still on the stage in an empty blackness, no one in sight... he had never felt so alone before, the feeling shook at  his bones and rattled his head but he needed to find peace in his darkness.

He never sung or played alone, Luke and Julie had always been the main focus of their band which he of course was ok with but he hadn't had much experience in soloing.

The theatre was empty so why did it Matter? Who could hear him? He took a deep breathe, still now, when he was alone fear consumed him but he stayed strong. He had to stand tall.

He wandered to the very front, a spotlights illuminating him. There was a lone wooden stool deserted on the middle of the stage with a single microphone lay on top. He reached out and clenched it for dear life and took a seat, he stared at the floor and began to sing softly

"I've learned to slam on the break
Before I even turn the key
Before I make the mistake
Before I lead the worst of me

Give them no reason to stare
No slipping up if you slip away
So I got nothing to share
No, I got nothing to say"

As the music began to pick up the pace so did his voice, it grew louder and he started to sway along with it, soaking up all his fear and using it, Channeling it.

"Step out, step out of the sun
if you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned,
because you've learned"

He lifted up his head to face the empty theatre, the music filled up inside in a mix of rush and adrenaline, his voice became softer yet powerful with a certain amount of almost confidence. Though he was still seated, Alex's body language and gestures grew.

"On the outside always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
I'm waving through a window
I try to speak but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
I'm waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see,
is anybody waving back at me?"

He jolted up out of his seat as it slowly faded away, his self belief shining through while he pranced around the stage having the time of his life, murmurs developed in the non-existence audience and the spotlight followed Alex around wherever he may go.

"We start with stars in our eyes
We start believing that we belong
But every sun doesn't rise
And no one tells you where you went wrong

Step out, step out of the sun
If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned,
because you've learned

On the outside always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
I'm waving through a window
I try to speak but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see,
Is anybody waving back at me?"
