Nervous Awkwardness

What does it mean when your crush can't look at you? Does that mean he hates you?

Example 1

"Kasamatsu-senpai, do you need any help?" You offer as the basketball team is cleaning up after practice. You had already done your share so you wanted to help your crush.

"N-NO I'M GOOD!!" He stammers, in a voice that wasn't meant to be loud. He had merely glanced up at you before returning his gaze to the floor. His face was super red and you just assumed he was mad.

Your shoulders drop but you put on a brief smile. It seemed so fake and in that moment you needed to get away. "O-okay, I'll see you tomorrow then."

He didn't reply, just staring at the floor as you left and you felt an ache in your heart.

What if your crush raises their voice at you? Are you just an annoyance to them?

Example 2

You were working on your homework during lunch, since you had fallen asleep last night on accident. You had been stuck on one problem for a while now, confused on where to start.

"Kasamatsu-senpai, do you know how to do this problem?" You ask your crush, whom you were eating with along with the rest of the basketball team.

"GEEZ, (Y/N), IF YOU DONT DO YOUR HOMEWORK AT HOME, YOUR GRADES WILL SLIP," Kasamatsu says. His voice was raised slightly and he sounded annoyed, even though he was really concerned about you.

You misread his concern as annoyance and your shoulders drop. "I'm sorry senpai." You apologize, and return to your work silently.

The rest of the team seemed to see how down Kasamatsu had made you. They all sent silent glares at him. Not that you saw them or how he regretted how he sounded.

If your crush avoids being alone with you, does it mean they can't stand you?

Example 3

You quickly gather your stuff after basketball practice was over. Today was the day, the day you were going confess to Kasamatsu.

"Kasamatsu-senpai, do you mind if I walk home with you?" You ask him as you approach him outside the gym.

He looked almost panicked for a moment before Kise walks by and Kasamatsu grabs his arm.

"S-sure, me and Kise were going home together anyway so what's one more?" Kasamatsu says nervously and the three of you began to walk.

Kise filled the air with his usual nonsense. And it seemed that Kasamatsu made it a point to have Kise between the two of you.

You sigh and Kise looks at you. "Is something wrong, (Y/N)cchi?" You look at him and he seems concerned for you.

"Wha- no I'm- know what? I completely forgot one of my textbooks at school, I'm gonna head back to get it." You say, kinda dejected. You turn around and head back before either of them noticed the hurt on your face. It seemed obvious to you now that Kasamatsu hated you.

But can such actions be misunderstood? Have a completely different meaning than what you really think?

Present

You sat outside the gym as tears silently rolled down your cheeks. It hurt, it really did. You wanted to just disappear in that moment, to not have to go to school tomorrow, or basketball practice where he would be.

After a while, you gather yourself together. You assumed that they were gone by now so you could go home without encountering either of them.

As you got close to the spot where you had run away from them, you hear Kise's voice. What intrigued you more than the fact that Kise was still here was what he said.

"Kasamatsu-senpai, you need to talk to her. If you keep this up, she will misunderstand."

A voice, a sweet voice that you loved replied, "But she is different than other girls."

"I know that you are awkward around girls, senpai, but it's far worse around her."

"That's because she is special." Who was she? You wanted to know that question so much. Was she Kasamatsu's crush?

Kise seemed to see where you were hidden and he said, "then you should tell (Y/N) that." After he said that, he walked over to you and exposed your hiding place.

"(Y-Y/N), you're here?" Kasamatsu stutters while his face was bright red.

"Kasamatsu-senpai, is that true? Do you think I'm special?" You ask, looking at him. You were really confused, I mean you thought he hated you.

At some point, Kise went away so it was just the two of you now. "(Y/N), it is true. You are special because I l-l-like y-y-you."

Your heart flutters and a new hope swells in your chest. Did he just say that he likes you? He doesn't hate you? You were so happy that you hug him. "I like you too, I like you a lot, Kasamatsu-senpai." I guess I misunderstood him all this time, you thought.

And that's the end folks, hope y'all liked it. Sorry I haven't uploaded chapters so often right now, I should be getting some more time soon, since some of my after school activities are ending. Though next year I'll have more schoolwork since I'm in 2 AP classes and I'm taking a test to get into an Honors class on Wednesday. Anyway enough about me, I have some things I need to talk to you guys about. I'm gonna be working on an abridged series for the yaoi anime, Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, with another wattpad author, @ShinigamiKoemi. She made a YouTube channel and she was the one who originally came up with the idea. She will be writing the script for the series and she needs people to help with voice acting.
