*This update is for all the people who called me out for the cliffhanger;)

He dropped the phone.

It was the shock that made him do it and as soon as he heard it crash to the ground, he rushed to pick it back up and call out to Hadessa.

"H-Hadessa? Is it really you?"

Sobs came from the other side as she became overcome with emotions, "Jackson! I'm so scared Jackson, he found me! He's threatening to take-"

"Shh, slow down baby, I can't understand you when your shouting. Who are you talking about?"

"Your Dad!"

Jackson's blood runs cold, "that fucker! I knew it all along. Are you okay? Where are you?"

"Delaware".

"Shit! I'm booking a ticket right now. I need you to go the police and report a break-in and then run to a women's shelter-"

"Jackson I-I can't. I can't leave the house he said-"

"Fuck what he said! I won't be over until four days max. You need to listen to me and run Hadessa. I know my Dad, if you don't leave now...he'll come back and finish ki...just go, please".

Ending the call, Hadessa grabs necessary things and the suitcase that is still filled with clothes that she wasn't able to wear while pregnant. After she puts everything in her car, she says a prayer before tacking off to the police station.

The station is filled with people and Hadessa can't even hear her own thoughts because of how loud they are shouting and laughing.

She shyly looks around the room to where a policeman is screaming at a guy in handcuffs and another is talking on the phone as he writes notes down. The rest of the officers are mingling around, talking on the phone or typing on laptops.

"Yes?"

Turning around, she faces the policeman at the front desk, "umm, I'd like to report a break in and threat?"

She's nervous because she has never talked to the police before and nor has she ever been in a police station. Oddly, she feels like the one that's broken a law.

"Okay, here. Write down your statement and we'll get back to you".

Get back to her? Is this how things really work or is this man just being dismissive? Hadessa thinks to herself.

Regardless, she walks to an empty corner, sets the carseat down and fills out everything that happened today. When she finishes she returns it to the man who takes it and and goes back to typing on his computer.

"Um...excuse me? Do you perhaps know when you'll get back to me?"

The guy raises a brow, "what's that? Speak up lady, it's loud in here so I can't hear you!"

"I said, do you know when someone will get back to me? It's urgent".

He looks down at her long report which took up space on the back aswell, "yeah, I don't know but we'll give you a call".

She nods although her anxiety just went up the roof, "oh okay...and um do you know where the closest womans shelter is?"

He looks her up and down before narrowing his eyes on the baby, "you aren't running away with the child are you? Because that's kidnapping and the father can charge you. If he's abusive then you can leave the baby here and I can-"

"Everything is in my statement. You can read it-"

"Don't get short with me Ma'am".

This sparks anger inside her, "I am in no way getting short with you. You asked me a question and I'm telling you that it's in my statement for you to read because I don't feel comfortable saying it out lou-"

"Mark! Everything alright?"

They both turn around to see another policeman with one hand on his holster the other holding a donut, as his narrowed eyes are set on Hadessa. And to her embarrassment, the room has gone quiet as everyone listens in to the drama.

Lifting the car seat back up, she makes her escape out the Station and back in her car where she calls Jackson again.

"They said they'll let me know when they look at my report. They don't care Jackson".

He senses a breakdown coming so he quickly speaks up to reassure her, "I'll deal with them later. For now, you aren't safe in that town so go three towns over and make sure it's a big town so you can blend in. I'll be there in two days".

"Okay and should I check in to a hotel or motel?"

"Hotel, a big one so there's a lot of people there. And Hadessa?"

She presses the phone closer to her ear, "yeah?"

"I love you...I'm sorry and I'll make this right okay?"

Now she's starting to cry, "I love you too Jackson. Kiss Caspian for me".

"I will baby".

The sound of Natalie fussing reminds her that she still hasn't told Jackson.

"Um...speaking of babies...we have one. I promise I've wanted to tell you but...Jackson?"

She pulls the phone back only to realize that he has long since ended the call.

Thanks for 5k guys!
