An Imaginary City

A/N: 

I wrote this poem when I imagined about a peaceful city where happiness and togetherness prevails. No war and no diseases.... Just you and me!


The sun shone brightly in the sky like a crown of the king,

the stones are scattered like pieces of a puzzle throughout the lane,

I spotted a tree in a distant with my naked eyes,

I sat under the tree from exhaustion and just too tired to walk.


Suddenly, I was welcomed by two splendorous gates,

leading into a serene city.

There are rows of houses, with people smiling

and content with what they have.


The gardens of each house are splendid,

covered with the sweet scent of flowers,

the areas are green and smell like nature.

The sparrows and nightingales showing off their immersing melodies

and I wondered, "Do they still exist?"


As I walk, I see blacks and whites with arms on each other,

hanging out like they are long lost friends,

I can see the true smiles on women's faces,

free from domination and violence.


I spotted a lake filled with blue water,

tasting as sweet as honey, and

free from pollution and human intervention.

The city makes me feel serene as if I belong here.


I jolted back to reality by the earsplitting sound

of truck emitting smokes,

I realized it was all a splendid dream,

with fatigue gone, I stood up with

my newfound determination to explore.

After all, it's a city worth searching for...
