Lilah

I sat on the edge of the bed, looking out the small window with my knees hugged to my chest. My eyes were red, my cheeks tear stained. This was the second time I'd cried on the stupid ship. I wanted out, wanted to be back home. I had no doubt James had already made it back to our home. To Sun and Sam and Jacob. To our parents. I wanted to scream. Wanted to cry out. I wasn't being hurt, and technically wasn't entirely being held against my will as I chose to be here. Chose to be here. That's what I kept reminding myself. I was not forced to be here. I made the decision to be here so James could go home. I repeated something else to myself, whether I believed it or not I didn't know. My name is Lilah Fairchild, and I will not be afraid. It was a lie, I knew it was a lie. I wasn't afraid of much. Spiders, needles, snakes, they didn't bother me but, I was afraid of where I was, who else was on this ship. I won't be afraid to fight for myself, to fight to stay alive, however. I repeated it in my head again. My name is Lilah Fairchild, and I will not be afraid. Maybe if I kept saying it to myself, I'd eventually believe it. A sharp knock came at the door, causing me to jump.
"It's unlocked." My voice was odd, even to myself.
The door was pushed open and there stood the captains first mate, Ella.
"You're to join the captain for dinner." She sounded bored, almost annoyed.
"How about no?" I muttered sarcastically.
"Correction: you're to join the captain for dinner, or you don't eat at all." She looked at me and I sighed.
"Fine. His cabin I'm assuming?"
She merely nodded and tossed clothes at me. "Change and if you get lost, yell for me and I'll help ya."
I nodded as she left, shutting the door.
I stood and locked the door before looking at the clothes Ella tossed at me. A green shirt and grey pants. Could be worse I guess. I pulled off the clothes I had been wearing and changed. The shirt hung off one of my shoulders. I pulled on the brown boots I'd been given originally and sighed, sitting on the edge of the bed. A sigh passed through my lips as I brushed a hand through my hair. My stomach grumbled and the debate in my head as to whether to dine with the captain or not ended. Guess I'd be eating with a pirate again. I stood, unlocking the door and stepping out. I knew my way to his cabin like the back of my hand at this point. I felt eyes on me as I walked and I subconsciously crossed my arms over my chest, quickening my pace slightly. The door to his cabin opened before I even knocked. I was met with a smirk.
"Didn't know if I'd see you or not." A purr curled into his voice and I was half tempted to leave.
"Well if it was this or no dinner, I'll settle for dining with you." I rolled my eyes slightly. Might as well piss him off a bit while I'm here.
He breathed a chuckled and the corner of his mouth turned up into a smirk.
"So are we gonna eat or-?"
He shrugged and moved out of the doorway, letting me step in before closing the door.
"Have a seat love." He motioned his hand over to the table.
"I have a name and you know that." I mumbled.
"Hmm." He chuckled, pulling a chair out for me.
I sat, crossing my arms. "Why, praytell, did you want me here?"
"Because I intend to learn everything about you Lilah." He chuckled
