Entanglement (Sequel to The Nerd)

Chapter 9

"See you at the finish line" he whispered whilst brushing his lips against mine. I quickly kissed him before pulling away and walking towards Holly and Blake. 

"Come on lovebird" Blake said wrapping his arm around my shoulder making Holly laugh when I frowned at him.

"What's this racer like?" I asked as we were halfway to the track. Blake had his arm around Holly at the moment. After about the 10th time of constantly shrugging his arm off of her shoulders she gave up. 

"Not that good... He's only a new racer." Blake said which made me nod.

"How's Charlotte?" I asked as we walked towards our usual spot in front of the whole crowd where Scott, Becki and Jamie were already stood. 

"She's ok I think she's sort of getting used to the area. I tried to get her in Wakeside high school with it being closer to home but they won't accept her so she's now going to Haywood high." Holly said which made me nod.

"When does she start?" I asked. 

"Next week" she shouted over the noise of the engines. I nodded before turning around and looking at Jake parked up ready to race. Wayne walked in front of the cars and stood in between them both. 

"READY GUYS" he shouted before looking at both of the cars individually. "GO" Jake took the lead straight away as usual. I couldn't help but feel a smile slowly creep onto my face. 

"Congratulations" I said as I ran into Jake's opening arms once he climbed out of his car. He spun me around once before putting me back on the floor. I couldn't help but smile at him.

"Thanks baby"

"Congratulations man" Scott said whilst walking over and high-fiving him. I pulled away gently from him so people could congratulate him on his winning but he suddenly frowned and pulled me back into his side whilst tightening his arm around me slightly. When Jake was shaking all of the crowd's hands I couldn't help but notice a familiar figure at the back of the crowd.

“Jake” Travis said as he approached us. “Good race” He held his hand out towards Jake, who just looked down at his hand before looking back up at him.

“What are you doing here?” Jake asked in a cold tone whilst slowly trying to put me behind him but obviously with me being stubborn I wouldn’t allow him.

“I’m here to watch the race” He said smiling as if it was obvious.

“Well you’ve watched it so now you can go” Jake said. Travis started to laugh and moved closer to us. I stepped back but only slightly however, Jake stood his ground.

“Now Jake I’ve heard that you’re getting a habit of talking to people like this” Travis said.

“Well I will if I don’t want to waste my time with them”

“Jake there’s no need to be like this I was only going to congratulate you” Travis smiled.

“Travis what are you doing here?” Blake asked as he walked towards my side.

“Blake I haven’t seen you in years” Travis smiled.

“Well I was going for the rest of my lifetime but you’ve ruined that now” He smiled which made Travis laugh.

“Aww Blake don’t ruin a perfect moment”

“Travis just get out of here” Holly said as she stood at the side of Blake with her arms folded.

“Is that Little Miss Holly Jones? Whoa you’ve definitely changed” Travis said whilst biting his lip and looking her up and down. I watched Blake slightly move so he was in front of her.
