The shadows cast are patterns on the walls
cerulean and azure sweeping 'cross
the room from surface of the swirling spring
that catches on the candles' flick'ring flames,
arrang'd to light the space enough to see,
yet dim enough that corners still are black,
and one must dilate pupils ere thiy gains
th'ability to see the chamber whole.
Pariah stands at th'edge of cleansing pool
whilst grimacing disdain at what a fool 10
he's been, believing th'words presented t'him,
convenient in their timing as they were;
he should've known they'd be too good to be
the truth, but desperation drove him t'ward
a trust he would've never otherwise
accepted from the human scourge, who are
ensnar'd in politics for personal
ascent and never for the good of those
beneath, and whom he vow'd upon his birth
to wipe from Earth for Her and also her 20
by Luna's guidance—th'arbiter of Sky
in His attempt through conduit of man
to fix the human error plaguing Her,
and he the perfect vessel by his past.
Distorted by the swirling pool, he glares
upon his own reflection broken up
and in this moment notices one more
that blends with his; he turns his gaze toward
the woman standing at his side and grinds
his teeth at how absorb'd he had become 30
to miss the sounds she's like to have produc'd
on entering. Examining her face
he comes to see this woman is the same
whose visage is alike to Owner's shape,
who stood before the crowd to plead his case
when Owner put his body down to sleep
before the Spouse destroy'd the wretched hag;
and once he hath determin'd who she is
he opens dialogue with her with this:
"Do you expect that I'll believe the yarn 40
you spun to bind the anger of the crowd?
I don't believe a single second you
were under spell the same as I was plac'd,
or that your sisterhood could all be trick'd
to take the plunge when all that it would take
is one to disagree with Owner's call
