Riley's POV

Don't cry. Don't cry. I thought to myself.

It's not like he was even your boyfriend. He was just a guy. Who was really nice to you. And lead on that he liked you. But he really just didn't care about you..

I let out a heavy sob before trying to pull myself together again. Maybe it was just a sign. A sign that I was meant to stay away from everyone and live my life in this house forever.

I run back downstairs and begin to prepare supper. I have lost my appetite and don't want to eat so I only prepare one plate.

My father comes home just as I set his plate on the table along with a bottle of beer. He takes his seat without giving me a second look and digs in while I tidy up the kitchen.

"You're not eating?" He suddenly asks.

"Not hungry." I reply. He grunts.

"I work all day to provide good for you and you don't even eat." He grumbles.

I keep my mouth shut as I wipe off the counter top. But he continues to scold.

"You're so ungrateful! You think you can go off to dance and come home and laze around! I work my ass off for you and how do you pay me? Huh?!" He begins to scream. "You don't realize how much easier it would be if you were dead just like your mother and sister! Do you think I wanted you to live? Do you think I wanted you to come out alive? Well I didn't!"

I don't said anything. I want to be dead right now so I don't have to be within five feet of him and I don't have to think about James.

But he's also right. All the times he told me that nobody cared about me. That I was better off not talking to anyone from dance. He was right. If I just stayed away from James, I wouldn't be like this right now.

"Where do you think you're going?" He growls at me as I try to escape to the attic.

"To my room." I reply shakily. He pushes away from the table and grabs my hair.

  "Ow!" I shriek.

"Did I say you could go?!" He shouts. I scream and kick, accidental kicking him in the knee.

"Ugh!" He  screams. He sends me a deathly glare before grabbing the beer bottle. He raises it and than I see it come closer until I feel a sharp pain in my head, and I hear the sound of glass shattering. My body hits the floor.

  Then it goes black.
