CHAPTER 29: Foul Feelings

The gentle, whirring of the fan echoed from around the dark room to the bathroom. The 14 year-old couldn't help but reminisce the fleeting flashbacks with his adoptive father, a slow swing was swaying in his line of sight; as if it wanted to distract him from the memories.

The distraction was futile as he began to pout sadly, salty tears threatening to fall from his pale face.

Izuku could still remember the remaining life in his eyes, the smile that would occasionally appear from time to time; a smile that was a miracle to see.

And oh, the soft voice that made him feel safe from the horrors of the world. The man was his saviour, who took the boy away from the slavery of a life he was living.

But he made it all disappear with a mere chance at fate and curiosity.

If only he could relive that moment, he could've treasured it more.

"Hey kid, you doin' alright? You seem a lot quieter." Stain asked albeit worried for the young vigilante that seemed too preoccupied with his thoughts.

It took the boy a moment before he answered, as if he heard the latter later than expected. "Im fine! Was just thinking about someone, I'll go patrol this way now." Izuku sniffled; pulling a tight, closed eye smile before heading to the opposite direction Stain was going to go.

Izuku leaped across the buildings, Kaki spotted a few thugs who looked like they were threatening a middle-aged man. The boy swooped down, swiftly knocking two men out cold with the help of his friend, his mask that resembled an owl glinted in the darkness as the boy turned to the man.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly, picking up the silver coins that fell out of the white envelope on the soiled land as well as the opened leather wallet with green paper bills, debit cards, and a picture of a woman and a young boy.

"Yes..Yes, thank you so much! I didn't know what to do, I.. I just got my salary today and it's.. my sons birthday." The man adjusted his glasses, gratefully receiving the money the boy picked off the ground.

(// I chose an owl mask for his vigilante costume thing because an owl's head is flexible and can do a 180° to look out for potential predators! ^^^//)

"Happy birthday to him, you're a good guy." Izuku patted the man's shoulder or part of it at least, he couldn't really tell. The guy made the green head think of his adoptive father again, and it just made him gloomy yet again.

It was harder than it was intended to be, Izuku didn't even feel this way when he found out his mother left him to die in a forest; nor did he feel this way when he was forcibly killing all those people in the past.

Was it because Aizawa was his saviour?

Or because he was the man that gave him all the boy was hoping for;

A Family.

"Alright, Class 1A. Due to the incident that recently happened with the hero killer and the striking similarities the vigilante has with your missing classmate, your finals will be postponed. Any questions regarding this?" Midnight read through the piece of sheet that was given to her a while ago.

The class shook their heads, even though the police hid the incident from the public's eye; the students of Class 1A had found out about it not long after the head of the police department confronted the two heroes in training.

No one really minded their finals getting postponed, because they were truly worried for their classmate; or because they haven't had time to study or actually care for exams.

Three of Izuku's closest friends were especially worried, fearing that their friend had become a vigilante instead of the heroic path he was thriving in. They were just worried for his health, and knowing the probable reason made it all worse.

The thought distracted the class all throughout each lesson, mainly Todoroki, Shinso, and Katsuki; the males were his friends after all. Class 1A's atmosphere wasn't healthy at all, it concerned the teachers and even the principal. They were talking about the hero class after all, but the class couldn't help but still think about their missing classmate and not to mention their homeroom teacher who passed away so suddenly.

When will these memories cease? Possibly never.
