Sorry it took me so long to update. I worked on the story while I was gone as I promised however, once I got back, I didn't really have the motivation to do anything. No kidding., I've spent the last couple days lying in bed for hours and just staring into space. I'm gonna try to update again in the next couple days so I hope you can forgive me for being so late.

The sound of news reporters and the wailing of sirens could be heard at the ruins of what used to be the home of Y/n L/n and Tony stark. The agent stood at the edge of the destruction on what used to be the floor of her living room. Staring blankly out at the ocean in front of her, her mind moved a mile a minute.

Y/n swallowed thickly as she listened to the new reporters speak behind her.

"Stark still remains missing."

"Ye have yet to receive any comments from - girlfriend - Y/n L/n, also known as one of the members of the famous superhero group, The Avengers."

"Will Iron Man return?"

"Tony Stark presumed dead."

"Who will protect us now?"

She clenched her eyes shut at the mere thought. Tony wasn't dead. He couldn't be. Hell, they had survived and fought through an alien invasion led by a god. The woman hoped with everything in her that he was alive. She refused to believe that something like this is what would silence the billionaire for good. He wasn't dead. Right?"

Looking down at the ground, Y/n's eyes landed on a dented and scratched Iron Man helmet. She picked it up and pressed her forehead to it only to realize that it was beeping lowly and a blinking light flashed on the side.

The Avenger's eyes opened in realization and quickly placed the helmet on her head. It beeped to life and she looked around. Y/n smiled when she heard, "Stark Secure Server. Retinal Scan: Verified."

"Y/n, it's me..." The woman gasped and choked out a relieved laugh while she listened to the love of her life speak. Tears of relief pooled in her eyes by the time the message ended she took the helmet off and hugged it to her chest.

Maya stood behind the taller woman, "Hey, you okay?"

The agent quickly put on her best devastated look and turned to face the biochemist. She decided that she would let the world believe that Tony was dead. She didn't know who she could trust. She would let the world believe that one of the Avengers was dead in order to let Tony move forward in his plans without people searching for him. She knew that if they found out about Tony being alive, they would not stop searching for him.

"I will be." The agent kept her eyes to the ground and voice quiet, keeping the illusion of grief.

"Where will you go?" Was the brunette's next question.

Y/n looked to be in thought for a moment and finally raised her head to meet the eyes of Maya's, "To talk to a friend." She quickly walked by the shorter female and toward her car that sat on the driveway. The vehicle has survived the explosions only due to the fact that it had not been in the garage when the house was attacked.

When she entered her car, she rolled down her window and allowed Maya to lean on the door. "Get somewhere safe, Maya. If the Mandarin knows that you were her and you survived the attack, you could become a target."

The brunette nodded and leaned back, watching as the car drove carefully through the crowd of news teams and reporters before speeding off.

If there was one thing Y/n decided, it was that she would not allow Tony to go through this alone. She would find him and bring him back to her.
