Chapter Seventeen

- Why? - she asked innocently while opening the big front door.

- You're telling me that the only people living in this ridiculously big house are you and your mom... - I said.

- Well, there's Susan too... - she said.

- Susan? - I asked.

- The housekeeper. - she said. - Come in.

She invited me in, and my jaw hit the floor.

- Well, that's a big mouth. - she said.

- Shut up. - I said blushing. - Holy shit... - I whispered while we made our way to, I guess, the living room.

- Make yourself at home, I'll go get Mom. - she said walking upstairs.

I sat on a fancy couch, uncomfortable.

I wait about 2 minutes until Chelsea appeared in the living room again, but this time, with a tall, thin woman.

- Hello Darling, Chels told me you wanted to talk to me. - she said sitting on the other couch in front of me.

- Umm yeah...  I... I'm... - I tried to say something but I was so nervous.

- It's okay darling, I'm not gonna kill you haha - she said jokingly.

- I'm... You're Devin Edwards' sister, right? - I asked.

- ... Yes... Why? Do you know her? - she asked concerned.

- Yeah, I... I did... She's... My mom... - I said.

- You're... Omg...  You're Dev's daughter? - she asked shocked.

- Yeah... - I said.

- Oh darling!  - she said getting up to me and hugging me. - where is she?

- She... Uh... She died 9 years ago... - I said starting to tear up.

- She died? - she asked in disbelief. - How? - she whispered, now crying.

- Cancer... - was my only answer.

- What about your Dad? Where's Patrick? - she asked me.

- He died last year, cancer too... - I said.

- Oh baby... - she hugged me again and I broke down in her arms.

After I calmed down she asked.

- Do you have another family?  - she asked stroking my hair.

- I have... 2 sisters in Texas, but I can't go back there... - I said.

- Why not? - she ask confused.

So I told her everything, about Demi and all.

- Well, Dani, you can stay with us. - she said.

- Really?! - I asked hopefully.

- Of course. I'm not gonna let you alone baby, besides, Chelsea needs some company when I'm working. - she said.

- Thank you so much! - I said hugging her tightly.

- No problem. Now go unpack, Susan is making dinner. Chels baby, show Dani her new room, I'm gonna call Chris to tell him about... About Devin and everything... Welcome home Dani. - she said walking out.

- YAY I'm not going to be alone anymore!! - Chelsea screamed hugging me.

- Haha smooth your boobs, England. - I said.

- Shut it, Texas. - she said. - let's go to your room.

To be honest with you, I thought they were gonna kick me out when I told them I was their family.

But I was wrong, they took me in, and they're so good with me.

My aunt insisted in buying me new clothes.

But she went far from that haha.

She got me enough clothes to wear a different outfit everyday for a year.

She also bought new lots of shoes and everything.

I feel spoiled, and sometimes uncomfortable but she said she wanted to spoiled me.

She kind of remind me of Dallas.

Dallas.

I miss my big sis.

I miss everyone.

But I won't go back.

I'm fine here, I'm saver here.

Chelsea and I have become really good friends, we talk a lot and she's really cool.

I started at the same school as Chelsea.

Everybody at school's good. There's no name calling or beatings after school.

I'm really like here.

But I don't feel like home...
