Well, there was another reason why we let him stay, because we needed him to clean our rooms.
Kidding. We needed to ensure he only gets the information that we give him. So, they won't be able to find us especially, my partner in crime. Dyson Leanza.
Such a nerd with brains. He couldn't even pull the trigger but when it came to the Internet, computers, gadgets and hacking, no one, I bet, no one can beat Spider and his web.
He was the reason that all these years no one had found me. Well, I wasn't careless but better safe than sorry.
"See, I told you we should cut him off when we had the chance," I yelled at Dyson and the confident grin faded from Alex.
"So what? He was helpful to put Dante in his own tracks." I could feel the smirk through the earpiece.
Alex raised a questioning gaze and asked, "Yo-you knew?"
"Well, of course, boy. You can't hide from me," I said a proud grin crawled on my face under my mask.
"And me!" Dyson said.
"Yes! Yes! And from Spider." I rolled my eyes.
"It doesn't matter if you knew or not. You're going to be dead and we'll hunt down your Spider boyfriend." He scoffed and stated with a miasma coated voice.
"Boy… what?" I asked, feeling a nausea flooding under me.
"I think my ears got a heart attack," Dyson said while I heard him gulping. Well, we both were like brother and sister not the other way around.
"Kill her!" Alex ordered and the men pointed the guns toward me and that swordsman was ready to cut some throats.
"We'll see about that," I said and clicked on my smart watch in which Dyson gave me the 'okay' of our plan B.
"On it."
"Well, now things will get a little interesting." I placed my hands over my head as if I'm surrendering and they stood dumbfounded.
A gape formed on Alex's mouth and I said, "In three. Two. One."
Everyone looked around and there was absolutely nothing. Not even a blow of explosion, not even flames. Nothing.
"What the hell, Spidy!" I yelled.
"Don't shout! You should have counted from fifteen!" He yelled back and I clenched my teeth. "Timing matters, you know!"
"I'd be dead by then," I hissed through my gritted teeth.
I looked at my shocked audiences and said, "Err...hold on a moment?"
Then the fearful blow of the explosion, the noise of glass, the rushing men and the hoarse howls of the soldiers exploded through the room. Orange flames rose with smoke which had taken a bite out of the side and the roof of the building. I ran toward a place opposite of the impact and covered my back to a nearby wall.
After a few minutes, only cries of soldiers came through the air mixing with the acrid smell of the explosives.
I stood up and saw Alex's body lying there a foot away and blood was oozing out of his mouth. I walked close to him. He was gasping for air and looked at me and struggled to form coherent words, "Ho… w? De… fuse… d."
I knew he was trying to ask why the bombs worked when he had defused them already.
"You know, the bombs you came with were actually all fake. We changed the locations as well as the bombs, that's all."
