⎯⎯⎯⎯ IMANI SADE, born and raised in Compton, California, was what people like to call a child prodigy. Indeed, the girl found an ear for music at quite an early age, which led her to master numerous instruments with ease.
After being discovered at the age of sixteen, while dealing with her own inner issues, Imani took her first footsteps in the music industry as a songwriter and musician, staying behind the scenes. Rapidly, she caught the attention of numerous major artists, writing for them some of the biggest Pop and R&B songs of the 80's.
Although Imani was known in the music industry for her ability to create an instant hit which would stay at top of billboard charts for weeks, she, on the other hand, found more interests in making Rock oriented music. Record labels often tried to make her change her mind, because 'a black rocker wouldn't look right for the masses'. This resulted in Imani not signing any contracts for years.
