A/N: this can help to Jisoo's part singing :)

Jennie pulled the car onto the main drag of town, she made sure to slow a little as she passed by the information center. She noted the lack of news vans and relaxed.

She was hesitant to bring Jisoo into town what with the ongoing press witch-hunt, but she hoped they'd take a break once darkness fell. It seemed she had been right.

The town was adorable at night, local restaurants and pubs lit up with charming little neon signs, and the quaint glowing streetlamps almost taking her back in time. People milled around on the sidewalks, calmly strolling here and there.

It was a vast contrast to the night life in the city with its pounding bass of electronic music, drunks stumbling around, idiot party-goers hollering and leaving occasional puddles of vomit behind them.

Jennie parked at the end of the main street and got out of the car, with Jisoo already waiting for her on the sidewalk. She smoothed the fabric of her yellow dress and adjusted her fancy sandals.

Jisoo gaped. "It just keeps getting better." A sly smile.

"Oh you," Jennie dismissed the compliment with a wave of her hand.

Jisoo snatched it mid-air and pulled her along by the shops and pubs.

She gave Jisoo a slow head to toe evaluation as they walked. "You're very sexy in your elegant purple shirt."

Jisoo looked down at her and grinned. "I know it."

Jennie shoved Jisoo with her shoulder and Jisoo teetered with a laugh.

"I suppose I should let you lead since I have no idea what we're doing here." Jisoo regained her balance and slowed her pace.

"We're there." Jennie said, tilting back and looking up at the bright purple neon sign above their heads.

KARAOKE 2NITE

"Oh you're bad," Jisoo said, smirking and opening the door for Jennie.

With a mischievous twinkle in her cat-eye she brushed past Jisoo.

"Show me that star quality."

Jennie crossed through the pub and headed for a back corner where several TV screens were set up and a man was fiddling with a laptop and various wires. She had secured the best seat in the house for their activity.

Other patrons bustled around, talking excitedly and flipping through songbooks.

Good, she thought. We won't be the only ones.

As a gentleman broke the ice with a lively Bruno Mars tune, Jisoo became visibly nervous. She shifted around in the booth and rubbed her neck.

Jennie pushed the songbook towards Jisoo and smiled. "Why so anxious?"

"I dunno," Jisoo's normally confident demeanor was crumbling. "I've just been the behind- the-scenes-gal for so long..." she trailed off as the next singer, a woman with curly hair and dangling earrings, strained for some high notes in a particularly ambitious power ballad.

Jennie leaned in to Jisoo's ear and whispered.

"It can't be worse than this."

They had some food delivered to the table and Jisoo seemed to relax once the pressure to perform was momentarily off.

They downed a few pints of beer and enjoyed their spicy chicken wings, laughing and serenading each other animatedly to some of the catchier tunes.

Jennie could see Jisoo was loosening up. When Jisoo busted out some air guitar to play along with Justin Bieber, she knew it was time.
