We listen to the radio on the way, yelling out the windows of his beat up truck. It's the kind of truck that only has one bench for the front seats, and an old tarp over the bed. The seatbelts were self-installed, and the windows have crank levers.

Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. I like his truck... and I like him. The way he runs his fingers through his hair, the way he dances in his seat, and the way he drums his hands on the steering wheel... there's something about it- about him that makes my chest warm. Light and tingly... but this time I'm not afraid of what that means.

We park in the dim lot behind Texas Roadhouse, letting the music play for a bit.

"Texas roadhouse is expensive, are you sure?"

He turns the keys so the engine sleeps but the music still plays. "Yeah, I'm sure."

Neither of us move, just waiting for the other to do something. I look over at him, a smile creeping onto my face.

"What is it?" He smiles as well, leaning back against his seat.

"I wanna kiss you again." I say, voice breaking. I clear my throat with a chuckle. "If that's okay."

"You want to kiss me again?" Caleb asks, trying to stifle a grin.

"You heard me."

"Okay."

"Okay?"

"Yeah let's do it."

We just stare at eachother for a moment, hearts thumping in anticipation.

"So... are you gonna come over here and kiss me?" Caleb asks, raising an eyebrow.

I scoff. "No. Are you gonna come over here?"

"No." He laughs.

We stare at eachother for a long second. There's only two feet between us, but we're both too stubborn to make the first move.

I blink. "So I guess we just... won't then?"

"Fine." Caleb shrugs. "I guess not."

"Fine."

We both turn to look out the front windshield, refusing to back down. We watch a family of four walk by, headed towards the restaurant. Once they are out of sight, I simply can't take it anymore.

I turn, just as he does. He pulls me in by the back of the head, and I grab him by the shirt. We meet in the middle, and I think you can guess what happens next.

He kisses me, and I swear I ascend into the astral plane. I let out a soft breath, surprised at the flickering chemicals that bounce around my brain when my lips touch his skin. The sensation is still foreign... but not unwelcome.

I set my hands on his thighs, appreciating everything about him. He's warm, and alive. Very different than my pillow, which is the thing I hug most often. He breathes and hums with energy. He responds when I kiss him back.

His kiss is somehow more meaningful than any I've ever had before. Sure, I've had a girlfriend in the past, but none of our kisses were this... dangerous. This feels like a rebellion. If anyone ever found out about us, I know for sure I would die.

He breaks away, and I mutter his name breathlessly. He turns my head, and gently -ever so gently- places a kiss on my neck. His action is so careful and delicate, it almost seems sacred. My insides flutter, and my toes curl. He lingers there for a moment, feeling my pulse against his lips.

My heart is hammering, my chest is heaving, and my head is spinning. "Dammit Caleb." I whisper, still gripping his legs.

"Does this mean I win?" He asks with a laugh, finally pulling away.

"What? No." I respond, a bit dizzy from his touch.

He taps his chin. "Hmm I think I'm the better kisser."

"I'm just... out of practice."

He puts his arms over my shoulders, pulling me in so our noses bump as he speaks. "I can fix that."

I just gaze at him and smile. "Roger that, captain."

Our smiles collide like planets, slow and graceful, orbiting a bit before contact. This kiss is gentler than the last, with more... I don't even know, i just love it.

~

I lay in my bed, once again dizzy with giggles. I can't believe I kissed him. I kissed Caleb Eldridge... and I liked it. And now I can't wipe this stupid grin off my face.

The burgers tasted amazing, but not as amazing as him.

Did I just think that out loud? Oh gosh I'm such a sap. I bury my face in my pillow, embarrassed at myself. That's pretty fricking gay if you ask me.

Clarissa's gonna be so proud. I have to tell her all about it, since she's the one that introduced us that first night at the party. Plus, she seems especially interested in seeing this relationship off to a good start, so I might as well.

I- ha I feel like I can't breathe. I just- wow that kiss. I keep replaying it in my head, heart pounding when I think about his lips against mine. Oh I am so whipped. This is not good.

I can't stop thinking about the way he touched me. Hands exploring my skin and clothes. When he pinned me against the wall, or when he cradled me in his arms. I wish I could feel that again. I wish I could kiss him all day everyday.

But of course, my luck only goes so far. He's going on a business trip soon, leaving me spellbound until he returns. Maybe that was his plan all along; to torture me by making me want more. I fell right into his trap.

I hug my pillow tight, still smiling like a doofus. I fell right into his trap, and I really don't mind.

"So!" Clarissa yells as soon as she picks up the phone the next morning. "How bad is the hickey?"

"For Pete's sake, I don't have a hickey!" I roll my eyes. "I told you, I'm not really into that."

She hums. "You will be soon. It always takes a special someone to convince you. Anyway! Why did you really call?"

"Clarissa, you're never going to believe it." I lay down across the couch. "I kissed him."

I have to hold the phone away from my head as she yells "It's about time! When did it happen?"

"So here's the thing." I say into the phone. "We kinda kissed twice-"

"Twice?!"

"Once during laser tag-"

"I knew it!"

"And once in the car when we got burgers." I sigh contentedly.

"A double whammy. Dude, how do you feel?"

"Happier than I've felt in literal years." I run a hand through my hair. "I feel like I'm on top of the world?"

"I'm so happy for you Sky!"

"Thanks. And thanks again, for everything. Your little speech on Wednesday gave me the courage to do it." I laugh.

"It wasn't a speech." I can practically hear her roll her eyes.

"Lecture?" I tap my chin.

"No."

"Sermon?"

"God, you're making me sound like a youth pastor or something."

I just laugh.
