Chapter 1

"You had your dreams, I had mine.
You had your fears, I was fine.
You showed me what I couldn't find,
When two different worlds collide." - Two Worlds Collide - Demi Lovato

I never thought I would ever be the new girl.

I never thought I would be living in another town much less another state.

Boy was I wrong.

Here I am sitting in the passenger seat of my car with my mom driving with a U-haul trailer hooked on the back and my younger sister peacefully sleeping in the back seat heading to our new home.

Tears still left remained on my cheeks after having to say goodbye to all my friends and family in my old home town.

My mom sprung the news of her getting a job promotion and having to move from our home state in Virginia to the sunshine state of Florida.

Having to leave everything you know, all your friends and family to a place where you know absolutely nothing is harder than you can imagine.

I can't help but let the tears fall as I think of this new life in Southport, Florida. I'm not very good at making new friends and I don't know what it's like to be the new girl.

I've gone to the same school and have had the same group of friends since Kindergarten. I really am at lost when it comes to being all alone in a new place.

10 hours later, I'm pulling up in front of my new two-story house. It's actually a pretty house but too bad it's in Florida and not in Virginia where I should be.

My mom smiles up at the house and turns toward me. "Alright guys this is it. Welcome to our new home."

My sister is already out the car and running towards the house, rushing to pick out her room.

She sees my frown before she wraps her arms around my shoulders. "C'mon sweetie, cheer up! I really think you will like this town. We are 5 minutes away from the beach for crying out loud!"

Yes having the beach 5 minutes is a big plus since we used to live in Virginia where it hardly ever got warm enough to even swim but it doesn't change the fact that I'm 10 hours away from my friends and family.

I slowly get out of the car and make my way into my new house. Climbing the stairs, I find a room that I would like to call my bedroom. My mom and sister said they would take the bedroom downstairs, therefore I want the up stairs to myself.

I pick the room with bare white walls that I will eventually paint a teal color to match my furniture. It also has a small patio that I can walk out on. I am taking in the scenery when I hear my mom calling me.

"Zoe, please come help me with the boxes please."

"I'll be right there," I yell back.

Yes my name is Zoe. Zoe Taylor to be exact. I'm 17 years old and will be a senior in high school starting this next week. I have long brown hair that goes down to about my chest. It's straight today but I like to curl the ends every now and then. I have brown eyes that match my mom. I tan very easy so living in the sunshine state may not be a bad thing for my looks. I also have glasses but prefer wearing my contacts. On days like today though, I wear my glasses. With my long legs that go along with my 5'2 figure and pretty fit body I used to play softball but quit freshman year. I'm normally shy until I get to know you and like I said before I'm not good at making friends.

My mom told me I should use this move as a fresh start. I should get out of my shell and not be afraid to make friends and make a name for myself. Just like my younger sister Bailee.

Bailee is 12 years old and likes to talk. A lot. She has tons of friends and doesn't mind meeting new people and getting to know them. She looks nothing like me with her blonde hair and blue eyes. She doesn't wear glasses and is already almost taller than me. She does dance and play soccer. Two things I never had interest in.

I help my mom and sister unpack some of our stuff. Half of our stuff is already here and some will be arriving in a few days. It sucks having to move so far away.

"I think that's most of the stuff," I tell my mom as I head upstairs with my last box.

"Okay sweetie thanks for helping."

"No problem. I'm going to go on a walk through the neighborhood. I'll be back later." I tell my mom as I grab my iPhone and earbuds.

"Be back in an hour for dinner," I hear her say as I close the front door.

I click shuffle on my iPhone and drown into the world of music. I smile as my old favorite song starts to play. I hear the opening cords to the song 'Two Worlds Collide' by Demi Lovato start playing. This song used to be my favorite song years ago and I would listen to it non stop. Don't ask me why but it just had something to it that made it so catchy to me.

As I was walking and admiring all the beautiful houses around in my new neighborhood, I realized that all the houses look real similar to mine.

I made the circle around and decided it was probably time to head back home. My stomach grumbled, reminding me that I haven't eaten in hours.

I made my way back to my new house. I guess I was too caught up in the scenery around me and the music that was playing on my iPhone that I didn't realize the nice mustang pulling out of my next door neighbors' driveway.

"Watch out where you are going chic!" the person who I assume is a guy with the deep voice that came from the car screamed at me while blaring the horn.

"I - I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention. I'm really sorry." I apologized to the guy in the driver's seat of the expensive vehicle.

"Well pay more attention next time. I almost ran over you."

Apparently this guy isn't very nice or he is just having a real bad day.

"Again I'm so sorry." I apologized yet again.

With that he rolls up his window and zooms off without a second glance my way. I didn't get a chance to see what this mystery guy looked liked but whoever he was he seemed to be an asshole. He sounded to be around my age but I wasn't for sure.

I made my way into the house and into the kitchen. My mom had some spaghetti ready for me. My sister was already eating and my mom is in her office already doing some work stuff.

After I eat the delicious meal, I head up the stairs ready to take a warm shower and go to bed.

My mind get drifting towards the rude guy that I ran into today. I hope I don't come in contact with him much. People like him are reasons why I don't feel comfortable making friends.

I climb into bed and answer to a couple of text messages from my friends asking if I got here okay and if I like it. Few minutes later I can barely hold my eyes open any longer and decide to put down the phone and call it a day.

Next thing I know I feel my eyes close and I drift off into a deep sleep.

So this is my first story. I hope you guys will enjoy it. Please don't give up on it and give it a chance. The beginning to a story is always slow but I promise it will get better. This story probably has tons of grammar errors. Just ignore them. I have had this idea for a story for so long now and I've finally decided to try and write. I don't have much experience in writing so please don't judge me. I wouldn't mind tips for becoming a better writer so don't hesitate to message me. Please no hate though. Hope you stay with me and enjoy this story!

Sincerely, Raegan :)
