Epilogue: Why him?

Sara's pov

The ice-cream shop during this time of year wasn't as packed.  I'm eating my chocolate flavored icecream with chocolate syrup, Oreos and mini chocolate drops on top. Absolute bliss.

"Sara, that is too many chocolate for you." Samantha said taking a lick at her vanilla ice creamed covered spoon.

I shrugged. "It's good. Too good. I don't really care if it's too much. I can't ever have enough!"

Ian and Samantha sat together in one stool. They were talking quietly with a tiny smile on both their faces. How precious. I can't believe it has been over a year since they started their relationship. Everything has gone perfectly for them, which brings happiness to my heart.

Hunter and Taylor were both talking loudly about bands. Paramore and whatnot.

I still recognized some bands, but I've changed a bit over the course of the last year.  As mom would have said "Told you it was just a faze!".  Whilst I always wore black, I not wear about any color the rainbow provides.

In one chair was Jake with Keithlin on his lap. He was giving her scoops of his ice cream and Keithlin back at him. I rolled my eyes with a smile. It's cute, though.

"Girl, you are rolling your eyes at nothing. Is the chocolate symptom kicking in already?" Taylor chuckled.

That earned the attention of all of them. Not cool.

"No. I'm just rolling my eyes for pleasure. It's my thing." I said rolling my eyes at her.

As an answer they all rolled their eyes at me. They can roll their eyes and I can't? That's discrimination!

"Samantha, you still going to the movies this weekend?"

Samantha nodded. "I was thinking we could all go in pairs. Jake with Keithlin. Taylor with Hunter. (Taylor was about to give a nasty comment) Don't give me those looks! As friends, obviously.  And I can go with Ian!" Samantha said happily.

I rose an eyebrow. "That's a great plan, but there is just one problem."

"Which is?" Sami inquired.

"I don't have company." I said with a smile. "I'm going solo. It's much better."

They all laughed at me. Samantha pursed her lips in deep concentration, which told me she had ideas running wild in her head. This is bad.

"Girls. We need a talk. Asap!" Samantha said standing up and going outside.

The girls followed, leaving the boys with confused looks.

"What is this all about?" asked Taylor.

Sami grinned and looked at me.

"What? Do I have something on my face?" I whipped at my face.

Samantha shook her head. "Girls, do you remember that bet we made?"

Taylor's and Keithlin's eyes sparkled with mischief. They all stared at me while I gulped.

Dear God, I know I haven't spoken to you in a while.  But if you're hearing this, please help me.

"If I remember well Samantha,--" Said Keithlin. "--after you and I got boyfriends, Sara was supposed to get her own."

Why did I even agree to this?

"I-- Ah--" I stumbled over my words. This was not good.

"Sara! You made the bet. We shook on it!" Taylor said as obviously as possible.

I groaned annoyed. "Oh, come on! I bet that in time you will all forget about this."

They all shook their heads.

Keithlin hummed, "I'm pretty sure you'll find the right guy.  I'm also sure that we will remember this bet for the rest of our lives."

My eyes opened huge. "Oh my gosh! Did Jake propose!?"

Keithlin coughed "Are you crazy? Of course not! What I mean is that this has been a part of our high school story! You will be part of it too, ya know."

"Hear my words: Sara Fernández will get herself a boyfriend even if it kills her." Taylor said.

I rolled my eyes. "Look who's talking. You are happy because it's not your turn yet."

Taylor smiled and nodded eagerly. "Exactly!"

I shrugged. "I think Taylor should go for it.  She has Hunter wrapped around her pinky.  She just needs to say the word and he's hers."

Taylor shook her head. "I told you. Once I feel that the time is right, and that my heart is mended, I'll take it into consideration."

"Boo!" We all booe'd and chuckled as Taylor gave us the finger.

We all chuckle and head inside the icecream shop.

I was spacing in my own thoughts with simple yet unanswerable questions.

When will I actually get a boyfriend?

Will it be Jonathan?

Will I ever interact with him?

No one would have guessed that with many more months to pass, destiny would finally place me in front of a very special guy.
