Zayn's POV

I thought about whether I should tell her about Gavin. After all, I doubt the guy's gonna come after her anymore. I kicked the balls out of that guy's crotch and slapped him hard, he's never gonna dare come close to Constance's body again.

As soon as we entered my room, I decided to tell her.

"Hey um, this is not important, but I met Gavin at the mall today." I told her.

"You what?! You met him?"

"I didn't meet him, I just went to get something and I ran into him and then he chatted with me and I shrugged him off and...yeah that's about it." I lied. I couldn't tell her about me hurting him because I know for a fact that she'll take it against me.

"What did he say? And how did you know that it was Gavin?"

"I said something like 'Do I know you?' because clearly, I didn't. And he was like, 'I'm your first love' or something like that so I figured it out. I wanted to punch him, but I didn't because I knew you were going to get mad." I lied again. It was true, I didn't punch him. I did, however, kick him where the sun doesn't shine. No, scratch that, I don't know if he lets it out to the sunshine.

"And he just let you go?" She said. She asked me like she knew that the guy wasn't going to let her go if she was trapped in the situation.

"Yeah, why? I mean, wouldn't he?"

"So he didn't?" She asked. I didn't know how to get out of the situation. She was too smart.

"He did!"

"I know him, Zayn. There was nothing you can do to escape from him unless you physically hurt him." She said.

"Okay don't get mad when I say this, but I may have lightly slapped him, that's it. Nothing else." If I had a thousand dollars for every time I lied to her in this conversation, I'd be richer than I already was.

"And then what did you do?"

"Nothing! I just walked away and went to where I was going to buy..."

"Buy what?"

"A tie. I needed a tie for homecoming. Are you happy now?" Another thousand dollars. I needed an alibi. If I wanted it to be a surprise, I couldn't tell her where I was earlier today.

"Oh. Okay." She was satisfied with my answer.

"What? So you're just going to believe me?"

"Do I have a reason not to?" She asked. I didn't answer, I didn't want her to ask more questions.

She stood up from the bed and went straight to the bathroom. I figured she wanted to take a bath, and I was right. After a few minutes, she went out wearing just a pair of boxer shorts.

Just as I was about to say something, she laid down on the bed with her back turned on me.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I touched her (well, my) arm, and she immediately let out a sudden jolt.

I realized that whatever it was, it has something to do about me. What have I done wrong? What was I supposed to do? I hugged her until her breathing has steadied and I kissed the back of her shoulder until I was sure that she was already asleep.

Was it because she knew that I was lying to her? I couldn't exactly tell her about the surprise, because that would ruin everything. I thought that she was going to buy my alibi. I mean, I was hoping she would realize that I didn't tell her about getting a tie because I wasn't used to it, but clearly, she thinks it was something else.
