AH, THE YULE BALL! The best excuse for girls to wear flattering dresses and to get their hair done, and for boys to take their first sip of Firewhiskey and to sneak out of Hogwarts. It was also the night where hormonal teenagers would hide out from teachers and snog each other's faces off before someone finds them.

It has been a week since McGonagall's announcement of the upcoming Yule Ball and to say everyone had their spirits up.

Well, everyone but the boys of course.

Girls would be giggling and whispering in the corridors, some of them would be shrieking with laughter as boys passed them.

Charlotte was pretty ecstatic for the ball herself — she gets an excuse to buy stuff from Hogsmead rather than spend it up to her budget for once.

Though, there was no denying that she was pretty nervous about the having-a-date part.

Would anyone ask her for the ball?

Should she just go alone instead of wait for a date?

Lavender and Parvati were gushing around the dorm rooms the whole week, giggling at each other as they pampered each other to attract some dates to the ball. Hermione spent her week stuck in a book in the library along with Charlotte sometimes — she couldn't care less about the ball and focused on studying and S.P.E.W.

On the other hand, the honeydew–eyed girl would usually borrow novels or do her homework while eating in the Great Hall with Ron and Harry who were both busy scouting for dates themselves.

"Why do they have to move in packs?" asked Harry both Charlotte and Ron as they walked past a group of girls staring at Harry. "How're you supposed to get one on their own to ask them?"

"Hey! Boys move in packs too! If Hermione and I weren't around who do you hang around with?" Charlotte retorted.

"Seamus and Dean,"

"Exactly,"

"How about you lasso one?" Ron suggested. "Got any idea who you're going to try?"

Harry blushed and looked away from them. A small smirk formed on Ron and Charlotte's face as they sent each other knowing looks.

Cho Chang, the fifth-year Ravenclaw seeker. She was certainly popular with the boys — though there were rumors of girls as well.

"Oh, you so fancy her," Charlotte dotted, nudging Harry on the side.

"Listen, you're not going to have any trouble. You're a champion. You've just beaten a Hungarian Horntail. I bet they'll be queuing up to go with you." reassured Ron as he lightly patted Harry on the back.
