•Matthew?•

"I'm here for you Anne. I know exactly how you feel" Rachel took a breath remembering when her father was sick. Anne smiled weakly as the train started to move. Her head still on Gilbert's shoulder.

Rachel looked back at Thomas and put up her index finger as in one more minute. She then looked around and noticed something on Anne's finger . Her eyes widened and looked at the two looking out the window.

"My my" Rachel said quietly . She laughed to herself without them hearing. " Well I better go back to my seat. Thomas is getting impatient. Send my wishes to Matthew and congratulations" Rachel smiled and pointed to Anne's finger. Anne looked down at her hand and face palmed.

"I should've left the ring at green gables. Now Rachel is going to tell everyone" Anne sighed as Gilbert chuckled .

They got off the train and headed towards the doctors office. Once they arrived Gilbert opened the door for Anne and she walked in. She still didn't really comprehend that Matthew was sick. As she walked into the waiting room she found Marilla fast asleep. She went a sat down beside her.

"Marilla. Hey it's Anne" Anne smiled as Marilla eyes opened slowly. Marilla forgotten she was in the doctors waiting room and jumped from not knowing where she was.

"My heavens. How are you here?" Marilla asked looking at the two of them .

"Well when Gilbert and I came back from our walk we came back to an empty house. We found Jerry sleeping and he told us Matthew had something with his heart. I just got so scared. The last heart attack he had , he had to stay in bed for almost a month" Anne wiped a tear as Marilla pulled her in for a hug.

Gilbert placed the basket of food on the chair next to Marilla. "I'll go check on Dr Ward and Mr Cuthbert" Gilbert left to go to the other room.

"I'm scared Marilla" Anne cried . Marilla nodded her head . " I am too. But Matthews strong , he got through the last one and he will get through this" Marilla sniffed and they pulled away from their hug. Anne looked down at her ring .

"Aside from all of this I have some good news" Anne sniffed and put her hand up and Marilla gasped.

"You're engaged?" Marilla looked very happy. It definitely made her forget about the Matthew situation. Anne nodded her head with a huge smile.

"Yes , when he asked to go for a walk we went to the place we first met. He started talking and just asked me. I still can't believe it" Anne laughed as Marilla peaked in the basket.

"My my. Gilbert is a good cook" She smiled as Anne shook her head . "Oh no. He didn't cook anything . Everything in there was already made" They laughed not knowing what was happening in the other room.

"Dr Ward. I'm here for Matthew Cuthbert." Gilbert said with concern. Dr Ward pointed behind Gilbert and he turned around.

"Mr Cuthbert. Anne's outside in the waiting room with Marilla" Gilbert said walking over to the bed he was laying on.

"Can I see her?" Matthew asked. Gilbert nodded his head and went to get Anne and Marilla.

"Anne , Marilla . Matthew would like to see you" Gilbert smiled and walked back into the room. Anne and Marilla both took a deep breath and walked in.

Once Anne saw Matthew she started to tear up. She ran over and hugged him , not so tightly just in case.

"Oh Matthew . I'm so glad you're okay" Anne smiled looking at Matthew. He wasn't smiling. He was frowning . Dr Ward came in to tell the family the news.

"I'm so sorry to tell you this but Matthews heart is in critical condition. As of now he may seem fine but his heart isn't. I suggest you say your goodbyes . I'm very sorry for the news" Anne looked at Dr Ward with no expression. She couldn't believe the words that came out of his mouth. She then turned back to Matthew , tears streaming down her face. She shook her head and hugged Matthew.
