She stared absent-mindedly out the window- her mind elsewhere as her hands expertly guided themselves in completing the embroidery. Her expression was one of serenity as her eyes followed the snowflakes floating gently to the ground, each one with its own beauty, each one with its own grace. The snow had piled up upon the ebony windowsill, the cool air entering the room. The draft didn’t bother the queen as she sewed on, the silence settling as an aura of calm. A sudden piercing pain drew her back to reality. She peered down at her fingers, where the needle has pricked her. She raised her injured index finger to eye level- examining the minor wound. A single drop of blood had welled up, forming a perfect circle. The blood suddenly dropped, sliding delicately off the finger and staining the snow beneath. The queen’s head cocked to side as her eyes took in the unlikely color combination, a mixture of admiration and fascination enraptured her. The dark red blood, the soft white snow, and the handsome ebony windowsill. The mixture of colors was unique and beautiful in the most unanticipated way. Finally, the ongoing spell of silence was broken, as she whispered, in a voice almost inaudible,

“I wish… for a child with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony.”

I know that chapter was really short- but it's only a prologue! The rest of the chapters are definitely longer- and are getting gradually longer as they go along. Please give the book a chance, don't judge my whole plot by this (I have a few plot twists up my sleeve).  And if you have any advice, please feel free tell me! This is only my first novel!
