I stood by the window and looked up at the sky. It was supposed to be the full moon tonight. And tonight was the night I'll be mating with my biggest enemy, Xavier Del Rio. The Alpha of the Eastside wolf pack.

How did I get here? Things weren't supposed to turn out this way. I was supposed to mate with my childhood love Braun just as I promised him, not some ruthless beast like Xavier!

I've only seen him once. Our pack was fighting with his pack because someone in their pack crossed the boundary and entered our territory. I stood in the distance and watched it unfold. Then I saw him.

He was larger and taller than my father who is the current alpha of our pack. He was at least six feet five and powerfully built. His raven hair was long and messy but not unkempt. His muscles rippled as he fought and I blushed despite everything. His eyes were a pair of glowing amber. He had a long scar on the side of his face indicating the harshness he experienced in the battlefields. They say his ruthlessness gained him the title of the Alpha despite his young age. He was not much older than me, maybe by two years.

Our eyes met only for a second. I didn't think it was possible to make any kind of impact that quickly but I was wrong. He saw me.

I was spending time with Braun in the sunflower field like I always do when my father summoned me. I said goodbye to him and hurried back. Father never calls me during this time unless it's something very important.

"Minerva you are here, good," he said. The entire pack was in the room as well which made me nervous.

"You called for me father?" I asked politely.

"I have to discuss something important with you," he said.

What is it? I didn't like his tone. Everyone in the room was quiet. What is going on?

"Minerva, you know how much I love and respect you as my only daughter right?" he said.

"What is it, father? Is there something wrong?" I was worried.

"Well you see, our pack decided to call a truce with Xavier's pack," he said.

"That is great news! Why do you sound worried?" I asked.

"Xavier has only one condition," my father shifted uncomfortably. "You are to be mated with him to solidify our pact," he exhaled and looked at me for my reaction.

"You can't be serious!" I growled. "YOU PROMISED! You said I could choose my own mate! How could you agree to his ridiculous term?"

"Do not raise your voice at me, child. I'm trying my best to protect our pack," he glared at me.

"Father please...do not make me mate with that...beast! You've heard stories about him! He is ruthless and cruel! I belong with Braun. No one else." I pleaded.

"The decision has been made and it is final. You are to be mated with Xavier on the night of the full moon. We will sign the peace treaty and there will be no more fights between our packs. It is the best decision for all of us so do not be selfish. You are the alpha's daughter so act like it," he declared.

I had no choice but to run to my room and cry. Once my father made a decision there was no turning back. I will have to endure any type of torture that will come my way. But one thing for sure, I can never accept Xavier as my mate. He was nothing like Braun. Braun was a gentle soul and Xavier...well...he was rumored to have killed without mercy. How could I be bound for life with someone like that?

So here I am, on the night of the full moon awaiting my demise. I stood behind everyone who gathered around the border that divides the territory. This is where my father will hand me over to the wolf, like some type of sacrificial lamb.
