The first time I ever saw your face
I felt like I was floating
And, the earth seemed to stand still
And you made me feel like I was floating
The first time I ever saw your face
I had had a little bit to drink, I'll admit
But I saw your eyes, and the way they hypnotize
And I sobered up quick
The first time I ever saw your face
I could hear my heartbeat. beat. beat
And I didn't know that could happen
That that feeling was real
The first time I ever saw your face
I tried to play it cool
That I could just be your friend
A girl that you could call a sister
But I didn't think
The first time I ever saw your face
I was shocked you wanted to kiss me
The idea of you, the way you look like you
I would never have thought, you'd want to kiss me
The first time I ever saw your face
I was dumbfounded, couldn't stop staring
Your eyes looked like you had seen pain
Like you'd let yourself be broken
But I was broken too
The first time I ever saw your face
I was scared at the idea
Of having your babies, of falling in love
Finally. And finding peace
You scared me. The way you made me feel
Scared me.
The first time I ever saw your face
I hoped you'd be a good guy
That you wouldn't make me cry
And you would make me happy
I was wrong.
The first time I ever saw your face
I wish it was the last time
I wish I didn't pester you
I wish I kept you special
A fond memory that would have never caused me pain
Because if I saw your face now?
I'd wish I never met you.
