I ran through the hallways, bounding down the stairs. After about 10 seconds of leaving the kitchen,  I could hear his footsteps, luckily I was on another floor.

I continued down the stairs until I reached the back door and cranked it open.  I rushed outside and began to charge towards his backyard.  I noticed a maze of bushes and made a move for that.

The maze was something out of Alice and Wonderland, with walls taller than any man.  I heard the backdoor open and close so I sprinted further into the maze.  It was huge with so many twists and turns.  I was thankful for the soft grass because I had forgotten shoes.  I bounded closer and closer to center of the maze.  As I turned a corner, I spotted him stuck at a crossroads.  I let out a squeak and turned around, he had obviously heard me.

"There you are" he said as I rushed away.   I managed to lose him but when I stopped I noticed I had reached the center of the maze.

"Damn" I cursed.

There were four entrances to the center of the maze and there was a large chance he was about to catch up with me.  As I thought through my options, he appeared at the one right across from me.  The only thing saving me was the fountain placed right in the center of the maze.  I quickly turned around and began to run, but he was quick on my heels.  The pain in my leg began to return as I exited the maze right at a pool.

Suddenly I felt a pain at the back of my head.  I quickly turned around but my back met grass and my face met Caden. Then, smiling, he took an egg and smashed it over my head.  So that was the pain.  I couldn't help but laugh at was happening.  He had me on the ground, under him, but he didn't have my arms pinned so I grabbed a fistful of flower and shoved it in his face.

He quickly retracted off me, trying to wipe the dust off his eyes.  I got up and threw more flour at him as he pelted me with eggs.  As a neared the end of my supply of flour, I had managed to back up all the way to the edge of the pool.  When he threw his last egg, he noticed my situation.

"Little stuck there?" he remarked with a grin.  I have to admit, it was a sight.  This big bad mafia boss covered in flour, smiling.

"Hey let's be rational" I said.  He moved so close that I could see the light flecks of flour coating his eyelashes.

"Fine, truce" He held up his hand, so I could shake it.  I knew exactly what to do.

"Fine" I took his hand and pulled as hard as I could.  I expected him to let go, but he kept an iron grip so I just tumbled into the pool right with him.

The water was so cold but his hand holding mine was burning hot.

We emerged, our faces inches apart.  He lifted his hand and brushed the remaining bit of egg shell from my hair.  He face moved closer as I held my breath.  My mouth parted and his eyes took a glance at my lips.

He was smiling like a kid, and it was so beautiful.  He was so beautiful.  Before I could catch myself I said,

"You should smile more" I immediately regretted it. His faced hardened and his scowl returned.  He got out of the pool and I quickly followed him.  But had to sit down as the pain from my injury returned.

He somehow noticed that I was no longer following him because he quickly turned around and bent over to pick me up.  Despite my protests, he still carried me inside.

I could feel his warm chest and I quickly averted my eyes.  Was he really going to kiss me? He would never.  He's a cold hearted mafia boss, just like my husband.  It's not like I would enjoy it anyway.
