Need to know information before you continue:
1) This book is based on the "Ultimate Spider-Man" (2012-2017) cartoon series, up to season 4, episode 15 "The Symbiote Saga." This book will include spoilers up to season 4, episode 15, so if you have not watched the show up to that point, read at your own risk.
2) This book alternates in events, such as Ben Reilly (Scarlet Spider) did not supposedly "die" in season 4, episode 11 "The New Sinister Six, Part 2." He did crash Octopus Island into the ocean, but Spider-Man and the Web-Warriors were able to find him in the wreckage and he's been recovering in the Academy.
Warnings:
This book diverges into heavy topics, such as depression, physical torture, psychological torture, heavy trauma, and PTSD. It has graphic depictions of violence and intense emotional scenes. Keep these warnings in mind.
However, I feel it is important to add, that this book isn't all doom and gloom, and despite how events turn and twist, there will be a happy ending. So keep that in mind as well. :)
