Chapter 46: Randomly Bad
Adeline

*time skip*

"Kaleb! I'm eating your cake!"

My brother looks up from his phone as I take the container of his dresser, turning away quickly.

"Bitch, put it down." He scowls, throwing his legs over the side of his bed.

"It's for someone else now! Later, love."

"I'm not playing, Adel-"

"I love you too!" Running out of his room and down the hall, I walk back into mine, closing the door quickly.

"What's that?"

"You're talking to me?"

Must be me because there's no one else here.

"No duh." Easton rolls his eyes, crossing his arms.

"None of your business." I grumble, putting my container down on the window.

"What's your fucking problem, Adeline?" He snaps, his eyes going dark. "You haven't talked to me. Four days!"

Bipolar boy.

"You told me to leave you alone. I'm only following directions."

Easton runs a hand through his hair and I look away, starting to feel my stomach churn.

But it was more like butterflies.

Taking the cake out, I check it before putting it in my bag, looking back at Easton. "What?"

"That romper looks nice on you." He chuckles, biting his lip.

"And flattery will get you nowhere."

"What do you want from me, Adeline?" Easton groans, putting a sweater on.

"What I want? Um-"

"Nevermind, I'll give you something."

"Where's Adeline?"

"In her room, go ahead. Just don't hurt her, or else I'll kill you."

This man is slacking.

Hearing Easton walk towards my room, I run into the bathroom and lock the door, pressing my ear against the wall.

"Addy?"

"Adeline?"

"Adeline Fawn isn't here at the moment. Please leave a message at the beep." I murmur, hearing the annoyance in his voice. "Beep..."

"Addy, I'm not playing. Open the door. I just want to talk."

I don't trust that. But I don't have the time.

Opening the door again, I stare at Easton's flustered face.

"What, bro?"

"Why are you wearing sneakers in the house?" He questions, looking down at my shoes.

"I was going somewhere, if you don't mind?"

"Where? Can I come with you?"

"It's personal." I state, brushing past him. "I have to see someone today. It's my only chance."

"Adeline, I-"

Bending over, I grab my hair and tie it, wrapping it into a bun.

Walking past Easton again, I take my bag from the window and put a container of glitter inside along with my old notebook, closing the bag.

"You said for me to leave you alone. You've been fine for the past four days." I tell him, keeping my head down.

Easton tries to explain himself but I look up at him and smile, preparing to speak again. "Do I look okay? Nevermind, I know I do. I can't keep the person waiting."

Four days can change a lot of things.

"Hi."

"I brought you something. Glitter, we used to love it when I was little. You were the one who got me hooked."

"How have you been? It's been a long time."

Sitting down at the grave, I put the container next to the flowers, sighing in content.

"I'm sorry I didn't come sooner. I never knew you were- ya know. Gone." I laugh nervously, talking to the air. "We should talk."

"I'm older now so we can have those girl talks you mentioned. Oh, and I brought cake, we can share. Or I could eat it for you?"

Laughing to myself, I take the leftover pastry out and eat, speak from time to time.

"And now, he thinks it's okay to confuse me. Boys are confusing." I mutter, rocking back and forth. "Avan, you would die to see Easton right now- sorry, wrong choice of words."

"He's cuter now than when we were younger. Crazy, I know. He kissed me, said we should give it a chance. But now I'm confused."

"I'm always confused."

The wind starts blowing randomly and I close my eyes, keeping them from watering. "Was that you, Avani? I'm cold now."

"Kaleb told me he came here a week ago. Maybe that's why he's been acting so calm lately. I enjoy seeing him that way."

"You know, Ava," Giggling, I play with a lose strand of my hair, keeping myself intact.

This is so weird. I would have never thought I'd be here.

Especially so randomly. But I love it.

Rustling can be heard around me as I think to myself, my head shooting up quickly.

A messy head of gray hair that has become slightly familiar to me is seen behind a bush and I get up, standing on my tip-toes to see.

Oh lord, my savior.

"I'm so sorry, Avani. But I have to go."

The most random things happen at the worst times.

"That man scares the life out of me."
