Ch. 16

He grabbed some loose socks and paired them together.

"How was your day?" I asked, all smiles as my wolf and I were beyond thrilled to have him home with us.

He scrunched his face a little.

"That bad huh?"

He smirked, "I'm being sulky...today really wasn't that bad but I know I have patrols this evening so I'm not super jazzed about it."

"Well Valerie and I were talking about making a trip out to Everest Grove to visit her sister and Morgan..."

"That sounds like fun, I want you girls to go and have fun but please be safe...as much as I like that you and Valerie have a good friendship I hate knowing you're going to be away from me." He all but pouted.

I rolled my eyes but kissed him until his worried brows eased.

"I'm sure Alpha Braxton will be close by during our trip...plus we're really just going for dinner, I'm sure we'll be back before it gets too late."

"Well go and get ready and I can get this all put away."

"Do you know how perfect you are?" I asked as I hate to put clothes away.

He smirked, "I don't know about all of that, but I'll take the compliment so long as it's coming from you." He said before he grew bolder and pulled me back to him and took advantage of kissing me.

But of course you wouldn't find me pulling away from his kisses.

I wasn't surprised to find my best friend already at the Everest Grove Pack house with Alpha Braxton and Luna Harper...of course there were also a handful of others as well, Most were people I'd met at Trace and Ryder's presentation and others were (I'm assuming) various pack members who may be staying in the pack house.

And one of the new faces stood out, but of course he stood out to me as the handsome guy was adoringly looking at Morgan as my best friend happily dragged him towards Val and I now.

She let go of his hand to pull me into a tight hug.

She was so excited and giggly that it was infectious, of course she hugged Valerie too and then everything kind of went silent as she grabbed her guy's hand once again.

I couldn't help but smile as I could see how nervous he was.

And I smiled at the both of them as I recalled our day in the library, Morgan and I had our secrets to share...but it was the day she'd told me she finally found her mate. I had seen then how happy it made her...she'd been on the verge of tears as she told me.

"Valerie, Zoe...this is my mate...-"

Valerie laughed and shook her head, "hey no need to be so nervous...we're just the sisters in law." She said to the gentleman who, as she stated...looked like he was facing the firing squad right now.

There were a couple of chuckles out of The Alpha and Luna's friends.

I on the other hand couldn't help but blush at the insinuation of basically being called Ryder's wife.

It was a lovely thought for sure...but seeing as he hasn't asked yet, I'm guessing we aren't there yet.

'Mate is cautious...wants our wellbeing first.'

I had to agree with my wolf. Knowing Ryder's character and personality I knew he'd want us to be in a secure place financially first before we move our relationship further than where we already are.

'Mates...nothing more special than Mates.'

Again in a sense she was right...Ryder and I are mates and I do know that nothing is more (relationship -wise) important than Mates.
