Chapter Eighteen

The next morning, I could feel the car moving under me. I sat up, and looked around disoriented. "What's going on?" I murmured. I rubbed my head, which probably looked like a rat's nest, and rubbed my eyes.

          "Hey sleepy head," Kacie smiled.

"How long have we been on the road?" I asked.

"Not long," Thomas- who was behind the wheel- announced, "We had to get a new battery because we were running the heat."

"Did it cost much?" I asked.

"Nah," Thomas shrugged, "It's not like we didn't have the money for it."

          I smiled, "True."

"We're almost there," Carson told us nervously.

"I'm pumped," I giggled. "What's the game plan?"

"Well we also stopped to get Thomas a new computer," Kacie started.

"And I researched where we are going," Thomas finished. "Mr. Ross put some instructions in that bag."

          "Instructions?" I asked.

"Eh, more like guide lines," Carson adjusted. "He wrote down the building. That was the best information from him. The Genius Thomas over here looked up the best time to go, who would be guarding the safe, and pass codes. We worked everything out."

          "Sweet," I smiled.

"And then Kacie comes in," Thomas chimed. "The guard for tomorrow night speaks Russian, which someone in this car knows how to speak."

"Why would they put a Russian guard in front of a safe in Washington?" I asked.

          "No one knows," Kacie shrugged.

"Cass, you'll break into the safe while Carson stands guard," Thomas continued. "The other bit of information Mr. Ross wrote down, which is important, is the number of money we're to take from each place. Cass, it's so much money."

"I don't know if I can do this," Kacie whimpered.

"Hey," I smiled, "You won't actually be holding the money, so pretend it's not there."

          "Nice Cassie," Carson chuckled.

I shot him a small smile. He raised an eyebrow back, and turned back around in his seat. "How much further?" I asked.

"Oh no," Carson sighed, "Please tell me you're not one of those people who constantly asks if we're there yet!"

          "I asked once," I laughed.

"I can just tell more is coming," Carson remarked. I rolled my eyes.

          "Well are we?" I pressed.
