After I got out of bed and dressed, I and Slade got on a bus and drove past the park I was left and a couple of blocks after that then we got off outside a small second-hand shop.
"Where are we going ?" I asked Slade
"I told you just follow me" He smiled
I smiled then I nodded my head and followed him down a small ally way behind some shops then down another ally way then he stopped outside a small shop called magic and trust in books.
"This looks so cute" I smiled up at Slade who was standing beside me
"We used to come here every day for hours while mum went and does everything she needed to do," Slade told me
"Really!" I said in shock not remembering I came here at all
"Yes, now let's go in" He smiled
Slade stepped forward and opened the door, the small bell rang lightly which hung just above the door letting the keeper of the shop that people have entered the shop, I walked into the shop behind Slade who held the door open for me, I walked in and stopped in front of Slade so he closed the door while I let my eyes wander over all the books shelf's there was a lot of them in this small shop. The elderly woman behind the till looked up at us.
"Welcome back, Slade and you brought a girl with you" She smiled up at him
Slade put his hand on my back and guided me over to the woman behind the till we stood in front of the woman and Slade smiled.
"Mrs Griffin, look at her closely" Slade smiled at her
Mrs Griffin leaned closer to me and looked over my face slowly and closely.
"Oh she looks so much like Lily" She leaned back and smiled more
"She is lily, Mrs Griffin we found her," Slade told her
Mrs Griffin's eyes went wide in surprise.
"Oh look how grown-up you are and so beautiful" Mrs Griffin smiled so happily "I'm so happy to see you again when I heard you went missing my heart broke, I apologize I didn't think I would ever see you again but here you are right before my eyes" Mrs Griffin took my hands in her's and smiled more
"I'm sorry Mrs Griffin but I don't remember you or this beautiful shop" I spoke then looked down ashamed
"Oh child, of course, you don't you were only a small child, I remember you sitting on your Slade's knee while he read to you and after he finished the book, all you would say was more, more than you go up and ran around trying to find the next book to read and pout because you couldn't read them or you couldn't reach them, I missed watching you two together" Mrs Griffin smiled happily at her memories
I couldn't help but smile as she told me what she remembered "Thank you for telling me that, I don't remember being with Slade or Keegan" I told her
"Oh yes Keegan, how is he?" She asked Slade
"He's good, working hard at school and happy we found his big sister" Slade smiled
"I'm glad, I hope to see him soon" She smiled
"You will, he'll want to come back with Lily" He nodded
"Well no more standing around, go have a look around but if you need any help please let me know" She smiled kindly
Slade smiled then he guided me over to the shelves.
"Go look around and tell me if you find anything you like, I'll buy it for you," Slade told me
"I can buy it," I told him
"Please let me buy my sister some books" He smiled at me
*How could I argue with that ?* I thought to myself
"Ok, but I won't pick too many" I smiled
"Pick as many as you like but remember we can come back" Slade chuckled at me
"I'll try to remember" I joked
I walked around running my fingers over the spine of every book I could touch as I walked along, reading all the titles of them until I found one with an interesting title, I picked it up and started to read the back to see what it's about then held it in my hands then continued doing what I was doing. I walked along most of the shelves and had a few books in my hands when I got to the child's books and straight away a book caught my eye, I walked over to the book and picked it up and read "funny bones" as I hold the book, I look at the small corner at the back of the shop with a small sofa and a chair with a small table. I could see myself sitting on Slade's knee as he read me this book, he made different voices for each of the skeleton men, the man skeleton, the boy skeleton and the dog skeleton. A smile spread across my face as I walked over to the sofa placed my books on the table and sat down, I started to read funny bones to myself.
"You loved that book so much, it was your favourite book" I heard Slade say from behind me
I looked up at him and smiled "When I saw it I remember us sitting here as you read it to me, you would put on different voices for the different characters"
"I did do that, I was trying to teach you how to read with that book," He told me
Slade walked around the sofa and sat beside me.
"I still love this story" I smiled at him
"Then let's buy it with the rest of your books" Slade smiled
Slade took the book from my hands then picked up the rest of my books and headed to the till while I chased after him, Mrs Griffin picked up funny bones and smiled.
"I know this story off by heart because Slade read it at least five times a day every day," She told me
"I'm sorry Mrs Griffin" I looked down
"Don't be, when you were away, I bought the book and when I was at home I would read it five times every day as I pictured you and your brothers reading it together, it's also Keegan's favourite book as well" She smiled
"It is?" I turned to Slade
"It is, he also learned to read by that book," Slade told me
I couldn't help but smile more while Mrs Griffin put the books into a bag and told us how much they cost but it was a bit low for so many books, Mrs Griffin gave us a family discount even though Slade tried to convince her to let him pay at full price but she insisted on the discount so we paid for the books then left the shop.
"Where are we going now?" I asked
"For lunch" Slade smiled
