"Thank god," he breathes out, crouching beside you to watch as you work. You're both talking like you usually would through your systems, except, you are actually in the same room with voices and names. It's comfortable yet strange. "I've not been hacking for long so I don't know much about it."
"Well," you speak up, your eyes glued to the screen, "you're already pretty talented. When I started, I barely knew how to change an image on a website-"
Before you can finish praising the boy only slightly older than yourself, you notice something odd and feel your eyebrows furrow together. You fall silent and the lack of your voice is quickly noticed.
"What's happening?"
"They're building up more firewalls... Seems they're doing it manually though, so if I can get through them quick enough, they won't have a chance," you set out on your task, your fingers typing away. Even if you wanted to use Jungkook's automatic attack, there's no way it would be fast enough. It left you to use only your brain and typing speed to attack. "Let's hope they don't find my automatic defences."
And with that, you lose grasps of reality, if anybody says a single word to you, you can't respond. You're so focused on the things you type and the speed at which you do it, you barely notice the door open and shut as Yoongi enters with your requested items.
You don't pause however, fighting hard to win a battle you would surely lose had this not been so important. The boy stops, watching from over your shoulder as you type with such a speed your fingers can barely be seen moving. He wants to make a comment, however, out of fear of distracting you, both boys stay quiet and simply watch.
It's understandable why this sort of process can take so long. You once spent an entire week working nonstop because you had to wait until the person on the other side of the screen got tired, hungry or needed the toilet. That was when you found out the benefits of having an office chair with wheels and a downstairs bathroom. It was a great advantage during that battle.
Without you noticing, the two boys silently leave the room in hopes of being able to speak without drawing you away from the screen. However, they could probably yell down your ear and you still wouldn't lose focus. When you begin to work, there is no stopping you unless you yourself give up.
The two shuffle away, closing the door behind them before they find themselves stood in the hallway, their silence speaking more words than any sentence could. Jungkook knew you were good, but seeing you in action really showed him just how good you really are.
"Are you planning on staying by her side all night?" Yoongi finally speaks, raising an eyebrow towards the brown haired boy who shrugs.
"I want to see if she can do it," he sighs, his face falling slightly. "But that type of thing could take days..."
"What? You mean she could be typing like that for days? Is she even able to move away from the keyboard?" The older boy asks, slightly shocked by the new information. Jungkook shakes his head, watching as the leader approaches from the far end of the hallway.
"Usually, you would leave that type of thing to an automatic system, but because of some malware she added to my own system, she has to do is manually anyways..." he pauses, thinking of a way to explain without it sounding too complicated. "But there's someone on her laptop and they're adding firewalls and fighting against her attacks as she goes... It's basically a challenge of who is fastest or who gives up first."
"What's this?" Namjoon asks, walking up behind Jungkook.
"That girl has robotic fingers," Yoongi says, opening the door to show the leader you at the desk hunched over the keyboard with your eyes glued to the screen. You haven't slowed down one bit.
Namjoon's eyebrows furrow together as he watches the screen shift every millisecond. Slowly, they shut the door again and hear the door click, hoping to discuss you further.
"She might have to do that for a couple of days," Yoongi adds, simplifying Jungkook's words.
"There's no way, she'll get a hand cramp or something!" Namjoon yells out in a gasp.
"Oh, it'll slow down over time but only once the other person does." Jungkook adds, giving a short explanation. However, before he can say any more, a loud groan escapes the room followed by a series of... explicit sounds, specifically, moans. Immediately, the three boys enter to find you cowering in your seat as a variety of naked old women pop onto the screen.
"They found my defences! I was tricked by my own creations!" You yell out, curled into a ball in an attempt to hide your innocent eyes from the vulgar sight on the screen.
"They used the logic bomb!?" Jungkook yells out, instantly recognising the variety of pop-ups he had to deal with for the past couple of weeks. You let a small whimper escape you, indicating they did.
"How the Hell did they manage to do that?" Namjoon asks, furrowing his eyebrows in horror at the screen.
"It's triggered by a specific event or series of events. They must have figured out my coding style and took a guess at what I would use." You breathe out, lifting your head and turning away from the screen. "Now the process is going to have to slow down because this ass has forced me into adjusting my style!"
"You can do that...?" Jungkook tilts his head like a curious puppy. You nod quickly, noticing the items Yoongi continues to hold.
"Can I... Can I have my drink please?"
Quickly, Yoongi hands you the can, opening it for you as he approaches. You smile towards him while noticing the pop up's slowly begin to die down, forcing you to turn away, taking a small sip of the drink before being forced to move back to work.
"Thank you!" you call, beginning to gain focus again as you get into a typing rhythm. "I wouldn't stick around for too long, during that time they've probably put a bunch of defences up, not to mention the fact that I have to slow down to code in a new way."
Hi! I don't usually add notes and things to my writing, but I thought that I would this time for the sake of saying some things. Firstly, thanks for reading! I had this story sat in drafts for so long, I constantly forget about it. Updates will be slow, partly because I have the worst memory and forget about it, but also because life tends to catch up with me and I don't get much chance to write this.
I also wanted to say (if you haven't already noticed) that I don't know a thing about hacking. So if you know stuff and read this, I'm so so sorry you have to suffer my attempts at winging it.
Again, thanks for reading my story. It's not much, but I appreciate it with all my heart!
