Everywhere was black.

Where am I?

Darkness had always been my worst enemy, taking away my sight and leaving me with nothing but sweaty palms and a pounding heart.

The smell of wood filtered its way into my nostrils but something else overpowered it.

This new scent was so strong, I could taste it on my tongue.

It smelt like roses...

Taking in deeper breaths, it was surprising how my whole body welcomed it like an old friend.

I wasn't sure how but I knew that that scent belonged to a female.

My little hands reached up and I could feel a soft fabric like silk in front of me. I stretched my hands out sideways and touched the wooden sides of what I presumed to be a wardrobe.

Why am I here?

This unanswered question made my heartbeat speed up dramatically. I placed my hands on my chest as my breaths became shorter and faster. I could feel my chest getting tighter.

Suddenly, a woman's voice reached my ears.

"I'm sorry..." It seemed like she was in a lot of pain. "It was a mistake... Please, I'll do anything. Just don't hurt her!"

My hands trembled as I pushed the wardrobe door slightly. The light of the room was dim, making it hard to see. My eyes soon adjusted, making out the silhouette of two people. A man standing over a woman who was on her knees.

"You bitch!" My body shook at how aggressive his voice was. "How many times will I warn you?!"

Tears streamed down my face as he flung his hands until it reached her face, erupting a sound like the cracking of a bullwhip. Something flew out of her mouth as she coughed loudly.

He gripped her hair. "You think you're so smart. Huh? You tramp! I'll teach you a lesson you won't ever forget." His knuckles met her jaw, this time harder.

"Where's my daughter?!" The man's voice pierced my ears, forcing my stomach to churn. "She needs to be here. I want her to learn, so she doesn't become a disobedient brat like you!"

"Please..." Her voice was incredibly weak.

Everything in my body yelled at me to go out and help the woman but it felt like something even stronger was holding me back.

He began to kick her in the stomach making me bite the inside of my cheek so hard that I could taste blood in my mouth.

Suddenly a sharp pain hit my chest.

I tried to inhale but the pain got stronger.

I couldn't breathe...

"Where is she?!" He roared, ransacking the room in search of his daughter.

Why do I feel like he's looking for me?

Fear gripped me, squeezing my heart until dots clouded my vision.

What will I do if he finds me?

"Don't hurt my daughter... I am begging you Adam, please..."

She slumped to the floor, losing consciousness and my knees gave out, taking me down with her.

The pain attacked again, this time with more vigour. I placed my hands on my chest, trying to breathe but there was no air.

Everything turned foggy as dizziness started creeping in. My eyes were getting too heavy to keep open.

I wanted them open. I knew that once they closed, my sight would be gone forever.

I would die.

There would be no one to protect the woman against that man. He was a very bad person.

No.... This couldn't be my end.

I couldn't die just like that. No!

I do not want to die...
